    Victrix kits are amazing, so many models for the price. Buying one reasonably priced bag gives you an entire army

    Im a big fan of victrix plastics, even though i dont do historicals. I used their gaul kit about a decade ago for my men of angmar for the War of the Ring mass battle game by GW. So many good options on these sprues. They kinda set a gold standard for how to do variant options through modularity. These figs really show individuality when gathered together.

    These look incredibly useful for my Bronze Age fantasy conversions. I wouldn’t have expected this kit to be so versatile if not for your review. Will have to pick them up next time I’m at Brookhurst.

    There's no point in even playing Gauls if they aren't mostly naked. Even Asterix ought to lose everything but the helmet. :)
    The Germans look pretty good. Very sensible sprue layout. Mold lines are a bit much but seem fixable. Certainly a good match with the WA Irish as you said.

      It's a shame it was only the ones in Britannia that used woad. At least the mainland ones used lime to make spiky white hair.

    I'm working on a Victrix Viking kit I had delivered 2 days ago...I think they're pretty outstanding. My first set of victrix!

    I love Victrix, I just wish the instructions weren't such a pain to follow. I swear I have to triple check everything constantly because I can't remember the part numbers. Also God forbid I clip off a few different things and get distracted for a few minutes, there is no way to tell what's what once it's off the sprue.
    Other than that, brilliant models for unbeatable prices.

      The key is to look where the arms are cut. Even then I've been known to just chop a stump down a bit to use a better looking weapon.

      A better way is to build the exact same figure of each sprue. What I mean is you have 4 spuces that are identical. You build figure A1 and all of its options on Spruce one and then you can quickly see on spruce 2 where figure A1 and all its bits are. Given that there are around six figures on a Victrix spruce the next figure you do is not A2 but A6 so as to space out where stuff is. Makes life that little bit easier.

    Love the heads, my immediate thought was using them for space wolves. The musician's I wanna use on a guard model and i don't know why

      It is. Outside of the command gear their isn't much in the way of period- specific gear that would place them squarely set in one time period.
      If I can ever clear my workspace free of 3D prints, multipart resin kits and the ever present stacks of plastic sprues, I'm looking forward to tinkering around with these myself- I have a habit of intentionally not building all the Victrix sprues just for the sake of goofing around with them later!

    The Looted Lorica look good.
    Sad that they have no nudes, I guess that is limited to the naked Gauls, even if it looks like they reused a body from that sprue and gave it underwear.

  • @GloriousGrunt

    Also I'm tossing up 32mm bases for all my victrix stuff as they seem to fit better, do you think that will work for most skirmish games?

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For small scale skirmishes, I don't think it'll make a huge difference, especially if they're in a tight formation. There's only so much space and so many bodies for them to pile in, and unless they're vastly outnumbered by small based figures I don't see it being an issue.
      I have a few of my Dacians on 32mm bases as well- some of them have such dramatic poses that even their integral bases are huge!

    • @GloriousGrunt
      @GloriousGrunt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ObscuritiesinMiniature I went for 32mm based (no pun intended) on your advice, it works perfectly, the spears on the Carthaginians etc no longer clash and nothing tips over when moving it around anymore :)

  • @Volgan16666
    @Volgan16666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like Victrix but I try to avoid using their spear arms. When you snap a spear its just not a job to stick it back on - too easy to snap it again. BTW the germanic figure being a head taller than his Roman counterpart (at 10:50 or so) would be historically accurate. Apparently the Germanics were big tall blonde fellows compared to the shorties of Rome.
