Pat Metheny & A.M.Jopek "Are you going with me" (audio and video restored)

Este es, en mi opinión, el solo más impresionante de toda la carrera de Metheny. Quizá no sea el más bonito o emotivo, pero sí el más parecido a la fluidez y perfección que alcanzan sus solos en los discos, los cuales quizá fueron parcial o totalmente compuestos. En este directo, Metheny estuvo realmente concentrado e inspirado. Parece evidente que no es un solo compuesto, ya que dura más de cinco minutos y se le ve muy desatado. En la historia del jazz hubo músicos que improvisaban muy bien, como Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Stephanne Grapelli, Toots Thielemans, etc. pero de los actuales, todavía no he conocido ningún músico que improvise de esta forma tan melódica, coherente, fácil de entender y con este nivel de detalle que ofrece en cada uno de sus solos. Los solos de Metheny poseen una direccionalidad melódica extraordinaria. Otros improvisadores ofrecerán cosas distintas e interesantes, pero ninguno las cuatro cosas que antes he mencionado a ese nivel. No en vano, admitió ser muy crítico consigo mismo y con su música. En una entrevista afirmó: "Cada noche cuando llego a casa, hago una revisión crítica de cómo ha sido la jornada". Imagino que no solo hace una revisión musical sino también humana.
He "restaurado" este vídeo que corría por la red con mala calidad de vídeo y sobre todo, mal sonido. He masterizado la canción con un ecualizador y un compresor virtual Steinberg-Neve. También he corregido un salto de tiempo que se producía justo al empezar su solo (tal vez por un fallo en la transmisión televisiva). He ampliado el formato de 3:4 (TV) a 16:9 (panorámico) con un recurso psicovisual y corregido el contraste y viveza de los colores de la imagen. Como en mi opinión, es el vídeo del mejor solo de Pat Metheny en directo, ¡merecía todo este trabajo! Hacía años que pensaba hacerlo. Imaginad que Metheny no toca la guitarra sino que habla con palabras, frases, expresiones y pensamientos. ¡Disfrutad del vídeo! :)

I’m listening Pat for ages but this version don’t get the crescendo as the original, A.M Jopek voice is superb but Pat went to quick and to complicated right away on his part. He ended ok though.

Its just superb! He’s solos are almost like prayers, the freedom of his playing it’s amazing. I love the original version from off ramp but this arrangement is also sublime. So cool.

I've been listening to this since the original came out and this performance takes it hands down. A.M Jopek is such a nice addition, but Pat's solo is from another world! By the six minute mark I was on a journey with such a mix of emotions and tears of joy in my eyes. Music just doesn't get better than this.
