Me and my best friend struggle finding hats, for opposite reasons. I have a big head. She has a small head. She needs kid sized hats and I'm pretty much stuck with hats meant for men. Most women's hats stop at 22 1/4 inches/57 cm. I need at least 23 inches or 59cm. I have managed to go through an entire hat store on vacation and still leave empty handed. Most elevators in hotels are large enough to carry ten people, and have a weight limit of something like 1.8 tons.
If you can't fit in a space that's big enough for ten average people, and has the lifting capacity to carry two fully grown Rhinos, then maybe you should consider using the stairs.

I don't understand how people actually believe what you do if you over indulge in healthy food and are still eating a shit ton of calories you will get fat.
But what gets me even more is these ignorant people that say people have a thing called set weight. Where your body wants to be a certain weight and that it's genetics that make you fat. That you could workout everyday eat healthy not eat to many calories and all around have a good healthy lifestyle and you will still get to that "set point weight" even if it's 450lbs.

I’m a 54 year old woman who suffered a significant injury 3 years ago. It was an injury that-despite a good surgeon, a successful surgery and a successful regimen of
PT-changed my day to day existence as I went from being an individual who was taking enough steps through the daily walking of my dog with friends and doing the basic chores needed (as determined by me, lol) to keep our home reasonably clean and functional to equal a total distance of
10+ miles per day…to becoming someone who struggles with any of that now. I still clock in enough steps to stay “fit” but each one gets harder to take as the day progresses. I’m not calling attention to how very much I’ve “suffered”and been a victim…I’m sharing something that happened to me that changed my life. With the reduction of mobility and activity I’ve also reduced my caloric intake. I don’t need to gain a bunch of “hard to lose” (can anyone say “menopause” 😂) weight on top of dealing with mobility issues and chronic pain. My organs certainly don’t need the added strain!
I grew up with most of the women in my life being somewhat overweight to very much so. I loved these women and I still do. I think they’re beautiful. But the few who are with me still and haven’t lost that weight don’t feel very healthy. As the years pass the body slows. So a morbidly obese person of 25-26 years may still have a blood pressure reading within the “normal” range. Same with cholesterol and other heart related issues as well as type two diabetes. But time passes and these conditions will make themselves known. 😢
I thought the body positivity movement was intended to help folks who are addicted to food and have poor eating habits to realize that they’re worth the EFFORT it takes to become healthier in general and that NOT being morbidly obese was the single biggest thing to focus on that could almost guarantee better health. Not instantly. But within a six month timeframe? With consistency? That by just going on a daily brisk walk? The end results are astonishing!! I thought the “movement’s” mission was to help folks realize that they mattered, that they’re worth the time and the love it takes to give yourself such a gift. Guess I got it all wrong. I’m 5’5” and, at one point in my life I weighed 219 pounds. I wasn’t “super morbidly” obese but I didn’t feel good, I didn’t look good, I had little energy, I didn’t like myself…but I had two young daughters who looked to me. That did motivate me. So…we adopted a young dog from the Humane Society (another thing near and dear to my heart!!) and we took him on walks. A dogs weight is very much involved in their general health after all!! And it was fun. Work, yes. But it was fun work. The whole family benefited.
Within six months I had dropped over 40 pounds. More importantly I felt good. And I continued to lose the weight. So I know how it feels. I know it’s not easy, but most things worth doing aren’t easy. I also know it can be done.
Thanks for a great video. You look fabulous!! Hope you had loads of good times with your family!! Please take care and I look forward to the next one!🙏🏼🫶🏼🙂

You hit on two very important points. Food can be an addiction, usually used to cope with emotions which then spirals out of control. Two, it takes effort to lose weight, at least more effort than you were putting in before, and if you don’t think you’re worth that effort, it won’t get done, much as my husband gets home tired as jokes that ai should work out for him. Body positivity was meant to be for people who had things they couldn’t change, scars, illness, height, anything that is a trait that you have no control over. It was never meant to be about weight in this sense, although I fully believe until you can learn to love and be kind to yourself, you’ll never get there.

When I got diagnosed with low iron anemia, it was the day after my PCP did a routine blood draw. My test results came back so low, that she was repeatedly calling me (I couldn't answer because I was at work), and then she was calling my emergency contacts (my parents). When I got the messages I called her back. She had left me her personal cell phone number with orders to call it. She told me my Iron was very low and that I needed to get to the hospital. I told her I would go after work. She was ADAMANT that I go NOW! When my fiancé (now husband) and I got to the hospital, the ER was waiting. They re-ran the blood tests and were surprised I was still conscious. I spent a week there getting transfusions.

Yes, I am overweight. However, I am also working to lose that weight. Fifteen years ago after becoming disabled a questionable doctor prescribed a medication that caused me to not only gain nearly 80 pounds, but gave me congestive heart failure. Not all overweight people are overweight due to their own behaviour. Being not only overweight, but disabled and often unable to even get out of bed makes it difficult to lose weight. Notice, I said difficult, not impossible. I've lost about half of the weight I need to lose, I'll keep trying. You can if you are still eating more than what the workout burns. Many people are not comfortable pushing themselves, myself included, so their workout might not be what they need. It is only in the last year and a half of hitting the gym that I have learned how to gauge where my limits really are and when I need to throw in the towel. Also, your body can cardio adapt, so if you are doing the same thing every day, your body will cut off other behaviors, like fidgeting, and because you are more oxygen efficient, your body burns fewer calories than before for the same thing.

I haven't seen her in ten years) and about ten years ago, she was starting to lose weight and had lost like fifty pounds. Somewhere along the way, she just stopped and I don't know why. I do know the FAs started getting into her head, even back then. She was fine the way she was. It was society's problem.
She also had the audacity to compare our disabilities. I have a very jacked up spine and can barely walk due to a congenital spinal defect (I'm 40. The problems really kicked in at age 38). She has bad knees and COPD and is on oxygen nearly all day, and can "barely walk."
She got pissed at me when I said her disability can be made a lot better with weight loss.
I don't know what to do. I'm pretty sure one day her 22 year old son is going to go by for a visit and find her gone. We aren't spring chickens anymore.
She will hang up on me if I bring it up and I live across the country so it's not like I can just stop by and force a talk about it.

I'm Swedish but I live in Japan and for the most part, doctors here don't really tell you anything. I'm currently pregnant with my first child and was given a form to fill out (one of many) where they asked me if I wanted to be informed if there were any problems (healthwise) with me and/or the baby or if I'd prefer to have them keep me in the dark. The same form stated that even if I wanted the information, there is a possibility that I might not get it and that it's at the sole discretion of my treating physician.
In other words; me or my baby could be dying and my doctor could choose to not tell me anything at all about it if he determines that that is the best action. My midwife was amazed at how well-read I am about both my pregnancy and pregnancies in general, as well as childbirth (especially for a first-time mother) and this is the exact reason why (well, the main reason anyway).
I know that Japan might be a bit on the extreme side in this regard (I don't think this would fly in my own country), but I don't for a second doubt that even Western doctors leave a lot of information out (especially these days when everything is -ist or -phobic). It's on you to take your own health into your own hands and stop outsourcing it to someone who probably doesn't care either way. If you're morbidly obese and your doctor tells you that you're healthy and fit as a fiddle, that should be a major red flag.
In regard to travel-Karen; I'm not plus size but I have to agree with her that airplane-seats need to be bigger. Anyone above the size of a toddler could probably agree with that. Everything else though is a her-problem, not an all-of-us-problem.

I think a lot of people just don’t understand nutrition.
People are overweight and under nourished because they have never learnt that sugar ( refined carbs) and fat, and too much salt make you fat. Real food doesn’t.
Sodas, like Coca Cola, Fanta etc, are full of high fructose corn syrup … very refined carbs which turn to fat if you don’t use the calories.
    It’s a shame.
    But thanks!
I think I know what my new job will be! A nutrionist$

    • @TheBaumcm
      @TheBaumcm 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Neither sugar, fat or salt make you fat alone. Salt is required for a proper balance as is potassium to help run the sodium potassium pump in the cells (why salt makes you retain water not fat). Your brain runs on the simplest sugar there is, glucose, as do all of your muscles, including heart, ones responsible for peristalsis in the digestive system, and eyes. Fat is essential for absorption, storage and use of certain fat soluble vitamins, like D and A for calcium deposit in bones. You can have as much refined sugar as you like, provided your body tolerates it. The problem is that it comes with no added nutrient value so if someone were to only consume sugar, they would become vitamin deficient pretty quickly. That is why a diversified menu is ideal. I have eaten dessert every day for the last two years, sometimes twice. I also work out and select it in relation to my macronutrient distribution to ensure I also get enough protein. I lost 45 pounds eating dessert and pizza but not the cardboard versions, just smaller portions or better proportions of macros.

Yeah I've had a heart murmur for years. I thought it went away until I read my after visit summary recently.

Always just ask for a full blood and hormone panel and then go home and research

When people blame their issues on others or things that have nothing to do with the issue nothing is going to change. You have given away all your power and control . That’s weird and really stupid. If you’re going to do that just live with it and shut up.

I think more expensive hotels give bigger/ thicker towels. Not every hotel like that, most is going to have standard towels. She’s so entitled.

So many people think the fish filet combo is a healthy choice because it's fish. But actually you're just eating high calorie trash that doesn't even taste good. Like girl, just do yourself a favor and buy some fish filets from kroger or whatever, google a recipe and cook it at home. It will taste *way* better and actually be good for you. Look at those calorie counts. Fish filet has hella calories in it, I'm not kidding. Also most people have good blood panels in their 20s, you're not special just because you're 26, fat, and have normal bloodwork. Bloodwork is reflective of years old data, which means it's not your health NOW, it's your health the year prior minimum.

It was not until I was 40 that my blood pressure started to shift and I was only about 50 pounds over. It was the throwing my back out when shifting in my seat that did it for me though😂. That and knee pain from previous surgeries. I just don’t like that they are telling me that I am fatphobic because I want to have a better quality of life. It’s physics, not fatphobia.

Also, food honesty is essential. It is wild, once you start looking at your calories for the day like a budget, how something with a really high value but lower nutrition becomes really unappealing because it isn’t as satisfying as the cost. Like, yeah that fish tastes good but I’m gonna feel terrible later because of all the fat and there is nowhere enough protein.

@@TheBaumcm Agreed. I can't imagine how much pain they're actually in and they're attributing it to "preexisting conditions". I was miserable at 200lb, I can honestly not imagine how much that intensifies at a 100 pounds more. Down 60 pounds give or take now and I have some decent muscle on me. It's like the pain just magically disappeared most days. Unlike some people I actually do have preexisting conditions, but I honestly do think the extra weight doesn't help anyone.
I was dislocating my knees, my hips. My leg bones were especially popping out of place. Subluxed my arm and elbow, and those actually still don't feel the same (have numb patches in them). Being out of shape and overweight is a living nightmare. If I'm fatphobic for not being about that life? Fine I'm fatphobic. I'm afraid of being useless to help myself.

Saying that wanting to lose weight is "fatphobic" is like saying that wabting to quit smoking is "tobaccophobic".

So, if there’s such a thing as fatphobic, then I’m going to go ahead and accuse them of being skinny phobic. I personally dont appreciate them criticizing my body and calling me names. Inclusivity should include XXS and XS but I can rarely find it, if ever. Stop your complaining and get some medical help.

I have size 11/12 feet. I can't always find cute shoes in my size, and even if I do, they're not cute in a size 11. And I can't change that with diet and exercise. Everyone else shouldn't be allowed to wear cute shoes if I can't. I am so fed up with this footphobia.
