  • Orbea released a new frame for the TERRA gravel bike in 2022. The engineers took the old TERRA and redesigned it completely, seeking performance for gravel racing and riding with this frame. In this review Mark Livesey takes you through what that means and how the bike feels to him. Having ridden the previous frame as well, Mark compares the two and takes the bike through its paces in the stunning scenery of Mallorca, Chilean Patagonia and Scotland.

    Thanks for sharing this. I just got a new M30 team such a fun rig. We need more content of what can do with this rig.

      I've just done a few shorter gravel races on the bike, it's certainly capable over the 3 to 4 hour races. I raced a very tough race in Sweden 80km with some very tough sections of gravel and the bike coped extremely well. I notice the tighter geometry on the flat smooth gravel and sections of tarmac = FAST. I didn't have any issues with the lower bottom bracket and pedal strikes either.

    What a excellent review and even better video editing with incredible views.
    I'm buying a new gravel bike and this orbea is one in my short list along with canyon grizl SLX 8 and giant revolt advanced pro 0
    Have you ever ridden or try any of those ones?

    • @thebricksession
      @thebricksession  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Cesar, I have not ridden the Canyon or the giant so I could not comment on those bikes. I have had Orbea bikes for the last 10 years. I actually rode my Aero road bike across Costa Rica ( video here th-cam.com/video/bsqW5KJtjXc/w-d-xo.html ) with some 33m cross country tyres and it coped with that tough environment extremely well. Generally the Orbea bikes are bomb proof and the new Gravel Terra is no exception. As you can see from the film I have actually put the bike through its paces and it's performed perfectly. If you're looking for a performance gravel bike, and a bike that can cope with most cycling environments.

      If you end up with the revolt change to a round post immediately, don't use their D fuse seat post. They're extremely prone to cracking around the seat tube with the d-fuse.

      Despite Giant Revolt Advance 0 and pro 0 excellent reviews, I still seeing better value from Canyon Grizl or Orbea Terra because I won't need to replace any components like post and handlebar

      @@thebricksession another question, could I replace the stem on the Terra ? For example a redshift rockstop stem

      @@cesar0610 I'm gonna chime in here to, I actually upgraded to a Terra from my a Revolt. 😂
      The Terra's internal cable routing guide spacer would be a bit in the way of a rockstop stem so you'd likely have to trim it. (it's plastic so no problem)
      I love my Terra, and the hidden cables just looks so good. I added 500mm Vibrocore bars, swapped to a 50mm Giant Contact stem, and added a OneUp dropper post and now its an absolute beast on the trails, a d still super happy on the road.

    Amazing review of the Orbed Terra--there's not many out there. I have one through MyO and I love it. Not sure how you got as much stuff in your Lockr. I had to get a saddle bag because the tube was such a tight fit. Great editing and production chops.

    • @thebricksession
      @thebricksession  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I cleared the locker and basically tied string to anything i put in the tube, so I could retrieve it easily. I pushed down with a tool, a bit like loading a medieval cannon! I made sure that everything there was retrievable before I started to ride. Works pretty well.

    Very interesting and awesome review,I’m considering this bike as my next gravel racer,but could you tell me how tall you are as I’m 178cm and not sure on a medium or small size in this brand ?? Many thanks 🙏

    • @thebricksession
      @thebricksession  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ian, you're the same height as me (5ft.9) and I ride the medium and it doesn't feel too big at all, especially with the tighter road geometry. I have ridden the small frame also, and it did feel just a little too short with my toro/body position. That said this was with a 90mm head stem. You could always extend to 100 or 110mm. You're sort of in between sizes, either bike would work well. But if it was me i'd go for the medium.

    Have you noticed any freeplay in the headset? I have some in mine, this could be due to too many headset spacers ?

    • @thebricksession
      @thebricksession  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've not experienced any play in the headset. I'd make sure the final spacer is higher than head-stem so the bolt has something to work against when you torque the head-stem bolt up.

    Is the lockr glovebox waterptoof, or does the frame get flooded?!

    • @thebricksession
      @thebricksession  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've not experienced any water getting into the frame, even when I jet wash the bike. I wash my bike after every ride and the contents of the locker is always dry. I also believe they have small drainage points at the bottom of the bike if water gets into the frame.
