The great thing about West Yorkshire Spinners sock yarn is that you can get 2 pairs of socks from 1 skein if you do a contrasting cuff, heels and toes. Worth every penny 🥹
The other day I was watching the lovely Andrew @albanachknitter - he lives on the Isle of Arran off the coast of mainland Scotland. In his delightful way he was knitting away on a pair of socks. Lo and behold, he was using the Vanilla Sock pattern by yours truly. I was delighted at this 6 degrees of separation moment.
It is so much fun to make things for knit-worthy people! I've made some socks for my sister-in-law, and she has worn through at least one of the pairs because she wears them so often! So now I want to make her all the socks 😆
Hi Kay. I agree that working on just a couple of things at a time makes WIPs turn into FOs much faster. Especially during the holidays when we want to get all the things made for gift giving. It's the physical manifestation of the fact that multi tasking is a myth. We can convince ourselves that we are able to do many things at once but in reality we can only do one thing, focus on one thing at a time. It's like shining a flashlight in the dark. You can only see what the light is focused on. Have a great day and I can't wait for Vlogmas!!
I love my handmade knitted hats and wear them all the time in the winter. Right now I’m knitting matching hats for my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter in a real pretty blue. Hopefully I can finish my husband’s socks by his birthday so I can give them to him.
The West Yorkshire Spinner socks are the absolute definition of 'Christmas socks'. I've seen the Gingerbread colourway a couple of times in ball form - most recently on the Chronicles of Yarnia podcast - but not yet knit up...
You've got some great looking socks done and your preview of the Grinch socks was so fun-PERFECT yarn for those. I see your Musselburgh and kick myself for not getting at least one knit. Yours fits you SO well. I think what stops me is basically, I stink at knitting hats. They're either too big, too small, too short....you name it. I look wretched in hats but I know the Musselburgh would make great gifts. Next year! Holiday gift knitting is in full swing and I'm lovin' it. Looking so forward to Vlogmas-I can't believe it's that time already. Good grief I'm still wondering where October went!!!
Excited for vlogmas this year! It has been so inspiring to see the direction your channel has taken with the closing of the shop, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
Good for you Kay!! Knit all the JOY!!!💖 No regular episodes needed from this knitter...take some time for you and your family! You give so much already!!🥰
Love the mean in green color way!! Looking forward to Vlogmas!! I'm not a total fan of the Gingerbread colorway from WYS. It a little too orange for me. But i will knit them up once I pick a coordinating color to break it up.
I too love WYS yarn, it wears well and washes easily. Not so keen on yarn with sparkle though as it annoys my hands to knit it. You look cute in your hat. 🇬🇧
Loved seeing the Three by the Sea caked up. When mine arrived, I was thrilled with the full skein and the mini. I bet a Fiber Seed Musselburgh feels wonderful. Lindsay’s yarn is a dream to knit. Looking forward to vlogmas and seeing your projects. Thx for sharing.
West Yorkshire Spinners sock yarn is a very good “workhorse” yarn , meaning very hard wearing and affordable. The Nutcracker colour of this year’s Christmas sock is really lovely but I think Gingerbread is my favourite! I’m just about to cast on another Musselburgh hat as they are a lovely easy knit with everything else going on!
I hear you about the necessity of hats in fall, winter and spring here. Montana mountains can be very cold. I have been busy knitting hats and socks for my gift list. Once that is finished I need to add to my own hat collection.
Holiday fun socks Look like candy stripes and the 🎄 stitchmaker Gingerbread yarn sounds like a plan Socks 🧦 and more socks Jippiieee vlogmis... Can't wait
I love your plan for your advents this year. I plan to open mine daily (I also have 3), then wait till later in December to decide what I'll do with them. I'm leaning towards a shawl for one of them, maybe combined with a strand of mohair. Looking forward to your vlogmas.
I remember the year you woke up SO excited because it had snowed and you did a video walking in the squeaky snow early in the am - think you had just moved from AZ. That first snow (I am in Oregon) is always so sweet. Love your podcasts and Vlogmas.
Love Eric's socks.. especially the mint ones. Can't wait for vlogmas. Love making Musselburg hats...my husband's favorite. Gorgeous Grinch yarn! That Christmas yarn is gorgeous 😍
Your podcasts are wonderful. I love the Mean and Green yarn. It will be fun to watch them grow. Memory blanket is amazing. I 'm knitting Christmas socks too. So much fun with the self-stripping yarn. Looking forward to Vlogmas!
This year, I was more mindful when ordering my yarn advents. Two with 24 minis plus a full skein. One 12 day advent, which will be for the 12 days of Christmas (Dec 25th to Jan 6 Epiphany). I always get Rebecca of Chemknits Creations Chanukah advent and watch the TH-cam videos each night.
Isn’t Three By The Sea awesome. They’re one of my favorite shops. I got the Mean & Green sock set too along with the needle point protectors. And yes, I also put an order in from their shop update. I got some really fantastic yarn and project bag. Your sparkle socks are beautiful. Looking forward to Vlogmas!
Excited for vlogmas,,!!! Keeping it simple sounds good,,,, Love west yorkshire spinners too,,,,and my fav is gingerbread ,,,,and fairy lights,,,could do them both again,,,!! Trying to stick to a few socks,,,,my cozy knitter advent skein and a Christmas sock ,,,, Love the hat!!! Thanks Kay,,, Elaine🏡🎄 I got inspired and started a DK cozy memories,,,!!thank YOU,,,,⛄🏡🎄
Love how your hat makes your eyes standout. Lovely colour on you. Yes I think the grinch socks are going to turn out great love the bright colours. Yeah vlogmas is almost here can’t wait but it usually takes up until the end of February to see them all.😂 but that’s okay it keeps me entertained. There’s so many great vlogs out and I enjoy lots of different crafts. It’s an exciting time of year.🥰
I'm simplifying advent season too. No advents per se but the only advent type project I am working on is this year's Cozy Knitter advent stripe socks and that's it. It feels so freeing to just minimise advents this year (and probably only this year 😂).
I found your channel only last year. So, when I started buying the Christmas yarn this September/October, I went back and watched EVERY year/episode of your Vlogmas ... a few in the evenings and sometimes in the mornings! It took several days after I had watched them all to snap out of the enchantment.😊😂
I just cast on Find the Joy socks tonight, I have been so excited to get them started - finished a hat and the DRK thanksgiving socks and hurried so I could cast these on! LOL I can't wait to see your grinch socks, those yarns are soooooooooooooooo yummy
I just started the leg on my 2nd Find the Joy Sock, while I watched this. How lovely is that? I am super looking forward to seeing the grinchy yarn worked up, and for Vlogmas! ❤️💚✨
I love the yarns you show! But I'm kind of new at sock knitting, and I was wondering, when you see a skein of multi colored yarn (like the West Yorkshire Spinners yarn), how can you tell what it's going to look when you knit it? Some of the sellers don't post photos of swatches. I've had some surprises -- so far they haven't been horrible. 🙂
If its self striping it will usually say. I know there are ways to tell if you lay a skein of yarn out how it will look. But, I'll be honest. I have no clue. 😂 I am not one who ever tries to figure out how things will look when they are knit up, I just like to let the yarn do its thing. That is half of the fun for me. 😊
WYS self striping yarns make great squares on a mitre square blanket, I love how it changes the look of the stripes. Looking forward to vlogmas, but can't believe we are here already.
Thank you for the project link for dk cozy memories! I looked on your project tab for an hour and had to give up bc my eyes hurt 😂🙄🫣. Can't wait to see vlogmas!
Started knitting on 9” circulars because you shared it’s your current method (not favorite, current) and I think I love it! Thanks for sharing everything! Can’t wait for Vlogmas!! 💜💜
Looking forward to vlogmas too! And I printed out your sock pattern and trying to decide yarn as well!! Love your hat too!!! I also love sweatshirts too! They are my favorite!!!
I love both of Eric’s socks, the peppermint mocha is great. The grinch ones will be awesome to! It will be nice to see your Cosy Memories with more squares added. I love you hat on you, I have the pattern and started hat, but thought it was going to be to big so ripped it out! Please chat a bit more about yours, is it made with sock yarn? Looking forward to Vlogmas it’s so relaxing and inspiring.
Thanks Kayla. Your christmas yarn blanket is looking great and I might start knitting one. I have never knitted a blanket or shawl before as I like crochet more but I am thinking about it. I am trying to finish a pair of vanilla socks so I can start on another pair for a friend's birthday that is in January. I will see how I go. I am looking forward to seeing all your advents and your daily vlog to the lead up to Christmas . Thankyou.
I can’t believe we are already talking Vlogmas! It really just seems to be coming up so suddenly. Looking so forward to it…always enjoy watching your videos!❤
I love WYS sock yarn they make for warm hardwearing socks. I actually didn’t order any yarn advent calendars this year (I have a candle one and a chocolate one ). I got a fun DK sock set on a recent yarn dyeing retreat and plan to knit on those over December when I’m watching vlogmas

Wow you've done so much in your back yard. Looks amazing.
I've got a thermomix to and love it!
Love the new sock pattern. Can’t wait to start soon. Thanks.
I have knit a pair of socks with the same Yorkshire Spinners Christmas yarn. I love them!

Love West Yorkshire Spinners yarn!

I got the shipping notification for mine earlier! I can’t wait for it to get here. 😍
I hear you about the necessity of hats in fall, winter and spring here. Montana mountains can be very cold. I have been busy knitting hats and socks for my gift list. Once that is finished I need to add to my own hat collection.
