One of the best 80s songs
Originally Joy Division, formed out of the punk revolution, early and rabid adopters of synths to their bass/guitar/drums. Renamed on the passing of their singer to suicide. One of the single most influential bands, period. This live show is world apart from, a concert/dance club remix of the studio version.
New Order were an amazing live band, and their songs were iconic in the UK

I saw New Order at a private gig in 1985. There was about 50 people there. Had a ball.
i was there! there was a lot of mud lol. Yes they went from 1976 goth band and then after the lead singer killed himself, the guitarist Bernard took over and they went dancey, As Bernard said once when asked "do you think you're a good singer" he laughed and said "i think i'm a good guitarist" I saw them in Wembley last year and they did there own support act as Joy Division. poignant

The only original member not on stage is Gillian Gilbert, who gave up her position in the band to raise her children. She appears only now and then with the band. Her husband is the drummer who offered to give up his position but Gilbert said that she was more replicable than her husband. Its always a pleasure when she is on stage with the band.
In the 80's New Order was the band who blended perfectly techno and Rock and Roll.... Got the fortune to see em on their last tour in Denver Colorado back in 2014
They're touring with PSB in the US this autumn.

New Order in live concert is not a good idea, great band I love them, but there a bit hit and miss live. Always try go for an official vid clip. One I could recommend The perfect kiss offical video. its in a studio and you can see how they make this music and who plays what and how the go about making their music. Plus lots of cow bell and croaking frog affects.
My favourite song of all time I lived through the 70's and 80's but it's not a POP song

That's a pretty good live version - clearly, based on the Paul Oakenfold Remix (released in 1994).
This is one of my favorite songs ever. New Order sucks live, and without their oriiginal bass player, this sounds more like a joke. Go for the official version, released in 1987. That's proper music.
Until they started singing there was none of the original song at all, completely different intro and feel.
Reading 98 is a better live version, this is a bit shambolic, but still New Order
New Order is the poor man's Depeche Mode but with that said I love them to death. Awesome band.
