I thought this whole song was actually about how everyone always craves to look perfect and seem perfect- hence stealing everyone's style off of the internet. (Like the line, "I'm jealous I want to join in," and why the persona is dedicated to the camera to have good connections). That's why we greedily consume material items but try to do it discretely. Like the line "from the beginning I've been coaxed into everything"- kinda shows how brainwashed we get when we want to be better than everyone. And the line: "Try not to flatter anyone, just dream". If you are jealous of someone, and strive to be them, it would hurt your pride to outright compliment them. I feel like this song is about how human connection is so blurred by a fast-paced, material society. But you know maybe I just described myself xDD

My theory is that the guy/MC is the supermodel's photographer who recently moved to Tokyo, since he mentions becoming dedicated "to the camera" and is even seen fiddling with a camera at the part with the cat (note: I think the teddy bear he possesses is his "momento" or attachment to his hometown). Slowly he began to crave the model's attention, jealousy and greed consuming him and turning him into a monster that wanted to "consume" her heart, something he tried to drown out with alcohol. It's likely that he fell for her because she made him feel welcomed and included, and not an outsider. Since the woman is a supermodel, she has to do shootings with male models, and every time the MC has to take their pictures together, further making him jealous. It's likely that the supermodel even dates these male models, discarding them as she pleases (or the men could be dumping her all the time, making them say "thank you for the meal".). The MC can't help but wonder what she sees in them, if they're lame or if they are cool. He keeps vying for her attention yet she pays him little mind, since she doesn't see him in a romantic light, a fact that makes him drown deeper into alcoholism as he groggily goes through the motions of daily life, feeling as if he'll soon disappear. It doesn't help that the model would sometimes casually flirt with him (thinking little of it), "knocking upon his heart". It seems like later on he gets fired or perhaps the woman is no longer interested in flirting with him at all, leaving him unable to enjoy her old smiling face. Or perhaps she went through a break up that she actually took to heart, leaving her unable to smile and having our MC vow to protect her. As for who the blonde girl is, I'm not fully sure. She could be another model that frequently does shootings with the other model, and perhaps she knows the feelings of our MC. It's also interesting to note, as someone else pointed out, that the see no evil and speak no evil statues are dancing to the music while the hear no evil statue is just wondering what's going on. It could just be because he cannot hear, but it could also be because the MC fears hearing the supermodel rejecting him but still refuses to give up, not taking her dismissals as an answer
MERASMUS HAS COME TO POINT OUT INTERESTING FACTS At 1:39 to 1:42 we can notice that in the pictures, he changed to his regular surface emotions and isn’t noticed by the blonde girl from the first one, second picture he shows his true self and feelings as the model herself doesn’t realise but the blonde girl definitely has, seeming as if she was the one to spot his true and deepest intentions towards the model. I thought this whole song was actually about how everyone always craves to look perfect and seem perfect- hence stealing everyone's style off of the internet. (Like the line, "I'm jealous I want to join in," and why the persona is dedicated to the camera to have good connections).
That's why we greedily consume material items but try to do it discretely. Like the line "from the beginning I've been coaxed into everything"- kinda shows how brainwashed we get when we want to be better than everyone.
And the line: "Try not to flatter anyone, just dream". If you are jealous of someone, and strive to be them, it would hurt your pride to outright compliment them.
I feel like this song is about how human connection is so blurred by a fast-paced, material society. But you know maybe I just described myself xDD

My theory is that the guy/MC is the supermodel's photographer who recently moved to Tokyo, since he mentions becoming dedicated "to the camera" and is even seen fiddling with a camera at the part with the cat (note: I think the teddy bear he possesses is his "momento" or attachment to his hometown). Slowly he began to crave the model's attention, jealousy and greed consuming him and turning him into a monster that wanted to "consume" her heart, something he tried to drown out with alcohol. It's likely that he fell for her because she made him feel welcomed and included, and not an outsider. Since the woman is a supermodel, she has to do shootings with male models, and every time the MC has to take their pictures together, further making him jealous. It's likely that the supermodel even dates these male models, discarding them as she pleases (or the men could be dumping her all the time, making them say "thank you for the meal".). The MC can't help but wonder what she sees in them, if they're lame or if they are cool. He keeps vying for her attention yet she pays him little mind, since she doesn't see him in a romantic light, a fact that makes him drown deeper into alcoholism as he groggily goes through the motions of daily life, feeling as if he'll soon disappear. It doesn't help that the model would sometimes casually flirt with him (thinking little of it), "knocking upon his heart". It seems like later on he gets fired or perhaps the woman is no longer interested in flirting with him at all, leaving him unable to enjoy her old smiling face. Or perhaps she went through a break up that she actually took to heart, leaving her unable to smile and having our MC vow to protect her. As for who the blonde girl is, I'm not fully sure. She could be another model that frequently does shootings with the other model, and perhaps she knows the feelings of our MC. It's also interesting to note, as someone else pointed out, that the see no evil and speak no evil statues are dancing to the music while the hear no evil statue is just wondering what's going on. It could just be because he cannot hear, but it could also be because the MC fears hearing the supermodel rejecting him but still refuses to give up, not taking her dismissals as an answer
