More than a few of these ProCPR videos have helped my high schoolers give appropriate first aid to their peers and family members. I was able to build an entire two week course on basic first aid using these videos as a strong foundation so I just wanted to reach out and thank everyone who produces these. You have been a huge blessing to our students and big help to me, as well as inspiring and equipping young people to go into the medical professions. A big BIG thank you to one and all!

Thank you for the important explanation of shock and what to look out for. I am at work and cut my fingers by accident 30 minutes ago, one down to the bone. I went to my car to take care of it because my fingers started pouring blood and I became nervous. Then I felt light headed and cold, then I started to see tunnel vision. So I sat leaned back in my car and I was able to fight passing out but felt like I was going to die.. I started to feel better but my ear started ringing like there was white noise in the background. After a few minutes I was fine, now I am back to work. Thanks again now I know what I was going through.

I've been in shock before. I was running at my school athletics day and my legs felt really heavy and slow before the race started. While I was running I felt funny and then I collapsed. I woke up on the school oval with no clue of what happened and started hyperventilating. My collapse was caused by all the blood pooling in my legs because the day before I was on my feet for 12 hours doing a catering function for my chefs course.

I work at SNF, yesterday was the hardest day of my life as a bedside nurse. My patient was having s/s of shock and when I notify the family that we are going to send the pt to ER. The legal POA said they are on the way to see pt and not to send without family checking the pt first. Well, long story short after that phone call as I was relaying the family’s message to my provider, pt became unresponsive. We called the code did cpr n 911 EMTs came after 15 minutes and luckily we got a pulse but pt was still unresponsive. I felt like POS because I’ve 16 patients in a rehab unit and couldn’t stay with the pt in that critical 3 minutes because legally I’ve to wait for family’s permission before sending her to ER. When the family came at the scene I was feeling guilty for listening to them😞☹️ I couldn’t sleep last night and today being my day off I don’t feel like Getting OOB🥹 I’m still thinking about my patient🙏🏽

I went into shock one time when I was careless and hadn't eaten anything before a plasma donation. I started to feel weird and then clamy and told the phlembologist and they stopped the machine but by then I had already lost a bit of blood and I started profusely sweating. I could feel me like going unconscious which is such a weird feeling btw and I guess I momentarily passed out he the worker was like are you okay and I said yeah and he was like uh well you just passed out haha. I think he got me a Gatorade I was able to sip on and started to feel better and I was able to finish. I just lost blood too fast and my body was like nope. I would assume me staying calm helped my body do its thing but yeah I will never make that mistake again.

Then it stopped after like 30 secs to a minute. And my wrist didnt even break either. I tested it in evrryway possible, it was completely fine. What happened i need an answer.

I was told after my near fatal car wreck that I was in such severe shock the doctor and nurses had to restrain me bc I was fighting them and whirling my my crushed elbow around like a windmill with the bone sticking out and bleeding from so many Dee gashes from flying through windshield.. what is that called when you fight off medical care and you cry and scream for your mother but when she enters the room they said i didn’t know who she was I would just keep screaming and fighting them? What happened to me.. I was 17 and all my family told me was that God was the only thing that kept me alive… the dr told them to not expect me to make it while being flown to a trauma hospital bc my blood pressure kept dropping and I’d lost so much blood and head trauma

    Hey ProCPR,
I thought warming up the patient is not a good idea because of the vasodilatation response in the skin.
    Great video though.

A cold patient is not merely uncomfortable. It impairs haemostasis for instance, and can increase the risk of potentially fatal arrythmia and fibrillation in the heart. Mild warming (a blanket only keeps the body at its own temperature) has very little effect on vasotension in a shock patient. The centralisation is not going to be as significally impaired as the patient would otherwise be by continued exposure.
