      you know what is crazy? a few years ago before becoming a travelling nomad before selling all my stuff I had a few instruments at home, I could not have the discipline for learning by myself but what I would love to do would be to receive musician friends at home and tweak the amplifiers while they played in search for different sounds, for whatever reason that fascinated me 🤣🤣

This is not allan’s playing in the video, but man…. you should listen to looking glass (album version) and tell me that he’s not playing with all feel/emotion.. he just expresses it differently. People keep saying the title of this post is meant to be a joke. Can someone please explain to me the humor in it? I haven't followed Govan's technique closely so if it's about that, I didn't get it.
    Allan is brilliant here as usual - a minute and four seconds of bliss!

    I don't understand the titel: Holdsworth plays Guthrie Govan?

  • @EdBender
    @EdBender ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can totally understand why some people dislike this. As a guitarrist and musician, I can appreciate the incredible technique and inventiveness, but as a listener, I do recognize that it sounds very much unmelodic, building tension in strange directions, seldon resolving, sometimes to dissipate in a somewhat anti-climatic dissonance... It's not the kind of sound I listen to when I want to relax, definitely. But Allan was a genious like few. His practicality in adopting the headless guitar is a sign of a that: a man for whom the music alone mattered, and anything extraneous to it should be reduced to its minimum. RIP great AH.

    What’s with headless guitars? Do they sound different or something? Not even sure what they’re called. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having the “head” of your guitar versus not having one?

  • @Jaageful

    I have to say...this is actually not that impressive from Allan. I was expecting more from him. He can't keep technique together and make transition mistakes between lines. I'm really disappointed. He really can do better.
