As an educator this is all too real! Parent: "Could you give us the reason little Janey only got a B+ and not an A?" (An actual question I've received, minus the name). My response: "Because she got the questions wrong". Parent: "Well she was so close to an A and she really knows the answers now so could you just give her the couple extra points?" There have been countless examples of this type of hand holding I'm my 10 years of experience and j just can't wait to see what it's going to be like 20 years from now. Colleagues have told me their stories too of course; parents writing papers for their kids, homework turned in with the parents handwriting. And this is middle school and high school folks! I know millennials get best on but these post-millennials will drive the geezers absolutely insane!
Maekar I Targaryen what state? Just wondering because I would like to know if this is nation wide. Teach in Houston area and it’s ridiculous how these parents and students now run the educational system.

Made me think of a do not disturb door bell. It can have a little LED above the doorbell that says "WELCOME" or "DO NOT DISTURB." When you aren't expecting company, you switch it to DnD and then it only rings loudly outside the door. Face it, if it says do not disturb and they still ring the bell, they deserve the loud doorbell in their face.
It's hilarious but .... sad. Parents like this exist and are so absurd to watch and deal with, even though the car seat is far fetched. Smothering parents = a train wreck!
This video actually makes me glad I was neglected benignly growing up. I think that's the best way to make someone independent and resourceful. ~ random Gen Y kid
I actually had a sales manager tell me that once. A group of teens were going to door to door selling magazine subscriptions (this was in the '90s). I looked through their catalog, and didn't want any. I can't remember if I got a second knock on the door like this, or if their manager was in the background, but after I turned them down, the manager came forward and said, "These are good kids. They're just trying to make some money. These are not bad magazines, at very good prices," and then he asked if I could look at the catalog again, to see if I liked something. I fell for the pitch, and chose a magazine I'd subscribed to before, but it had kind of fallen out of favor with me. What they had *was* at good prices, and so I figured I'd give the "kids" a little business (I have no idea how much of the proceeds they actually got). Later on, I heard about how there were scammers going door to door selling magazine subscriptions, but in these cases, they'd just take the money and run. In my case, they actually signed me up, and I enjoyed the magazines I got. So, it happened to have a happy ending, as far as I was concerned. :)
urgh, i'm just like the son. Every time I try to live independently I eventually breakdown crying and come crawling back to mum. Its like the inevitable humiliation doesn't register until its too late, even if I constantly remind myself. I'll just keep neglecting my responsibilities until I make an unholy mess of my life again...
No, because I believe in not having the government or some stupid "save the earth" person dictating how I should shop. Much less dictate how I should answer the door to my own house.
You know what will kill Ban the Bag initiatives? Not debate about the undoubted harm they can cause environmentally, but self-service checkouts in shops. Have you ever, ever, been able to make one of those damn things accept that 'the unknown item in the baggage area' is your bag, even when you've pressed the button for 'I am using my own bag' and placed it in the zone for weighing?
MinesAGuinness I really doubt that will kill it, I barely see people with their own bags anyway. Also you don't have to put your bag in the area, you just don't have to bag your items and when you're finished bag them afterwards. I know this is a 2 year old comment, I just thought this comment was silly.
Pelican Cancer is important .. Please help rid us of these fowl creatures that poop in our drinking water by using as many plastic bags as you can. Thank You! lol ~a~
different places have different problems plastic bags do block up drainage systems and that is one reason why pple don't have any water to drink. plastic bags will clog up internal organs of fish therefore humans will east plastic in 'developing' countries. it is a serious problem for everyone. This kid’s a good GUY. And ya know-just sign the damn thing.

That was....a little too real
A great parenting instructional video. So much said in so little time.
Incredibly realistic. Ice Cream, Ice Cream, Ice Cream!
Alex has a whole room full of participation trophies I'm sure.
Ah, millineals.
You know where she made her mistake. She opened the door a second time.
Her mistake was to open the door the first time.
But pelican cancer...

And every time after that, as it happened.
Wait what's wrong with this skit? This is normal. Except my mommy tucks me in for a nap while driving me to grad school.
*"PISTACHIO"*
And packs your lunch.
The Volvo is a nice detail at the end. Completes the picture of this family perfectly. Especially that model.
Plastic bags are great for poop scooping after pets.. So they are re-cycled in a way....
This explains a lot about Portland issues today. Thank You Comedy.

These could well be the same people who invented the How many more 'sleeps' till something exciting happens thing.
Hilarious, one of my favorite skits. Hilarious when the grandparents show up. The millenial baby seat...
I live in the Pac NW... I gotta get out of here.
the guy who plays the son is sooo adorable!! dayum!
This skit is disturbing. 😂
Haven't seen a pelican all week and now I know why. Too bad my city won't ban plastic bags.
Pelicans are really sensitive to pollution. My city found 27 dead pelicans in a pond -.-
Pelican cancer XD
I lasted two days as a canvaser, because I could not stand to be that guy. (And the first day was training, so really, one day.)
yup, canvassing is tough!
Did you go to ice cream?
i worked one day also, people treated me like dirt, and I was better dressed and cleaner than day.
Did you take your mummy?
So your parents and grandparents were there?
Gawd, Portlandia never ceases to amuse and stimulate thought.
Pretty cool how the meme actually led to the city's demise...
Shouldn't his car seat be facing backward?
thesavagechef no, that's for children physically 2 years or younger, not mentally 2 years or younger
Chairman Meow can you please just tell thesavagechef he's right and he's doing a good job? Let's just do over this comment again...
I think we should go to ice cream 😢
Pistachio!
Wow this is so relevant, they were just taking about helicopter parenting on the news a few weeks ago after the university admissions scandal
It's hilarious but .... sad. Parents like this exist and are so absurd to watch and deal with, even though the car seat is far fetched. Smothering parents = a train wreck!
This skit combined with the video quality ensured that I will forever be too angry to die.
Not the pelicans. Never the pelicans. 🐦
Brilliant.
this is my favorite portlandia skit hands down
No it's not.
AWWWWWW THE VOLVO FINISHED IT SO HARD
Can we just end this cruel game and let the boy move in with you?!?!?! He’s a clean boy!! Wash your own damn sheets!!!!

Well maybe not neglected, but a latchkey kid would do.
So THAT's the parental love & support I never received! no wonder I'm so f'd up! lol ;)
2020 and his petition is finally reality! Plastic bags have been banned in Portland, only paper now, and if you want one it will cost you $.05 each
This actually happened in Oregon. Plastic bags are not allowed in big stores

Anyone else craving pistachio ice cream..? I've got no idea why...
Fred Armisen is a national treasure
@PearMartini1 yes I agree. The EGAT (everyone gets a trophy) way of parenting is ruining this country. A land on underachievers...
She is a good actress, liked her in the street naming skit as well.

Ban paper bags. Save the trees!

This super depresses me because it's so dang true.

Yes. Kind of hard to re-use bags after cleaning a litter box!
It's already a reality in San Francisco County.
