I like how the solar panel behaves when it is destroyed, and I don't mean the destruction, but the fact that the floating part shows the activity indicator in red, but the part still attached shows it in yellow, as if the block was actually half destroyed and the attached part was repairable.

The cable could also be a tether, which would attach to a special terminal on a grid and constantly feed the engineer electricity, oxygen and hydrogen. Me and my friend had a discussion over a year ago where we wondered if we could make a tether mod, as it would allow building/designing stuff (in survival) without constantly having to go to the medbay to recharge, but it would be limited by the length of the tether. Tethers are the way we managed the very first spacewalks

@@Zer0sLegionI mean, in Minecraft food isnt as much of a big deal either, it doesn't take much time sooo...why not add it? It gives a bit of flavour and "realism" but isn't overly oppressive as a mechanic

i think that cable might be a tether for spacwalking to make repairs on orbiting stations easier and that round thing is the reel incase you drift to far and need to come back could be wrong though
Assuming SE2 adheres to the placing and welding of frame blocks, I could see survival undo/redo working only on unwelded blocks, so you can still plan stuff out and have the ease of building, while not taking away from the survival aspect by anything more than avoiding the need to constantly pull out your grinder to undo mistakes. Alternatively, there could be a 'virtual build' mode for projectors, where you can place full hologram blocks with the entire suite of creative tools, including the partial blueprinting and undo/redo, with no restrictions beyond perhaps size. It makes perfect diegetic sense.
I absolutely want the second option. Having the undo/redo thing only work in creative and "blueprint designer mode" makes a lot of sense. I can live without it in regular building lol. It'll be interesting to see how they implement these things!

Did you notice that the cable makes a perfect "zero", I think it's not a coincidence but they did it on purpose for the "one" who discovered the secret behind the alien relic.
They've basically recreated the default world of Space Engineers 1 circa 2014... maybe earlier. It was an asteroid with a shelf on it containing the blue fighter and a red ship docked to the platform. Even the upside down landing gear is from that map.
4:51 Pretty sure those could be connection points for small conveyors since you probably could use small conveyor pipes with large grid blocks now because of the unified system
Its me again, i still really hope the cable is a tether also i have a theory At 2:08 that station could be like the tutorial like learning to survive in current space engineers or a red (or blue) ship Cinda thing.
Calling it now, the cable is going to be a tether. I say that because we already had a tether system from another Keen project, years ago. The rope tool from Medieval Engineers.
Others might have already said this, but i think the cable might be like an interface to terminals? So like you connect it to a turret to edit settings of the turret like the blue terminals we have now. Still, that's just speculation.

I think the cable is going to be for when you run out of hydrogen in your suit and just floating. You can whip your cable out and connect it to a ship or asteroid so you dont fly away. I also hope there will be a crafting system where you can put together a survival kit using your suit that has a mini assembler that can make the parts for a survival kit.

The 'cable' may be a power cable for tools or a pneumatic tube for tools? Whether or not it actually gets shown in use or just stays looped up on the Engineer's belt, time will tell.
That big block behind the refinery looks, to me, kinda like a really big refinery (also I still feel like the cable is just how you plug the suit in to charge it)
Kinda hoping the cable is used for a vanilla version of the Build Vision mod. Maybe intractable/controllable blocks will have a sort of jack that you can link up to using the cable, then you can control and change the block via your arm-tablet or something.
