Small Correction, EveryDay, A Thai Navy Underwater Demolition Assault Unit troop perished. They are colloquially referred to as seals, but are not trained to the same extent or ability as US Navy SEALs. Still a tragedy, and I pray for those boys, and the man whom I'm sure is sitting in Heaven.

      SilverDogMat,
Former U.S. Navy Seal Cade Courtley has stated that if they dive out, they will die, and I agree. It is taking PROFESSIONAL divers with hundreds of dive hours over 90 minutes underwater in dangerous conditions (and now deadly) in tight spaces with almost no visibility to reach them. And kids, some of whom can't swim and all suffering malnutrition and oxygen deprivation, are supposed to dive out? Not happening. The sad reality is that they either need to drill down to them or wait for the water levels to recede.

Except Trump didn't win a majority vote so even with 2 parties thanks to gerrymandering a man won that the majority of Americans didn't vote for. Id rather have multiple party system to get shit done and not to particularly vote people in. Adding a legit centrist party would hopefully put a stop to things being passed based to party lines. I would hope with a middle party the good liberal policies as well as the good conservative policies would make it through more often.

With regards to the trillion trees story.
Trees absorb CO2, store it as carbon and release oxygen back to the atmosphere.
You mentioned that 15 million trees are cut down every year.
I just want to point out that cutting down trees is actually the best way to store the carbon indefinitely. If the tree dies naturally, the carbon will be released back neutralising the benefit the tree had.
So long as the tree is cut down and not burnt. I.e. used in construction, furniture, tools etc. It actually fortifies the benefits from planting trees in the first place indefinitely.
One other note is the destruction of habitats within trees.
Plant and cut down trees - good.
Cutting down rainforests and natural habitats - bad.

    • @kyleking3839

My generation had Jackass and CKY, but the thing about them is that they only did the dangerous/stupid stuff to themselves, all of the stuff they did to other people was ultimately harmless. Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville have actually spoken about that at length regarding the TH-cam prank invasion. If it was dangerous or stupid, they did it to themselves, they never dragged anyone else with them.

I think the Canadian Prime Minister has a good point. As a female who’s experience unwanted touching early in my life I tent to be uncomfortable with any unexpected touch, or just a touch from a man because of it. It can be a polite tap on the shoulder but it’s still very uncomfortable for me. It could of been that he wrapped an arm around her shoulder or something along that line in what he thought as friendly but could of come off as creepy or uncomfortable for the reporter.

I’m not sure if this woman had a conversation with him after that “uncomfortable” exchange, but it would help a lot more than waiting until the “abuser” gets more power, more scope and more fans. You shouldn’t be able to have such a “life changing” exchange and not both be on the same page.

Justin Trudeau is totally right, it's the same as people who think they are right because they are offended. I, as a woman, may find something uncomfortable that a man does not. At the same time I may find something fine that men (and women) find uncomfortable. If it's an assualt then it's an assault, but personally I don't believe that every uncomfortable interaction is assault.

But the allegations made against Trudeau are from 20 years ago!! Let me repeat, 20 years ago! I think we’ve all made mistakes, even less than a year ago. Not to mention, the reporter who is claimed this assault has said herself that he touched her *back* inappropriately and that in fact she takes back the allegation. Recalling the incident “uncomfortable” and not in any form a “sexual assault”!!!

I think Trudeau was treated differently, however, I don't think it's unjustified. It was a single account from many years ago, and he addressed it quickly. Not only did he address it, he then offered a lengthy response. The people who accused him of wrongdoing don't seem to be pushing very hard, and Trudeau didn't deny the feelings that the person may have felt and may still feel. Trudeau said regardless of how he feels, that doesn't mean her feelings are unjust, and he went out and tried to make sure that his message was more clearly understood.

In regards to Trudeau, as I'm Canadian.
Frankly, I think this was 20 years ago. Even if the interaction was more than just a tug on the arm, or maybe a bit too much of an advance, it's been 20 years, people grow, people learn from their mistakes. It runs the line to me that, "oh, now that he's the PM I'm going to call rape!"
Not to discredit any rape victim, but he was well in the limelight before, he apologized is what he did was taken in an offensive manner, and now we're slowing down parliament just to discuss it again. This isn't like Doug Ford and the late Rob Ford literally selling drugs in their city, this just feels like we're eating up time, when Trudeau should be discussing finding new trade partners in preparation to retaliate against Trump increasing tariffs on our goods, you know, actual politics.
I like that he acknowledged that she could've taken it differently than he intended, and I think that's an important distinction, especially with this context with her as a reporter. Especially at a music festival where people are having a great time and maybe a bit over-excited. We're at this point in society where we make jokes about signing legal documents before having sex, and I am all for consent, but this really sounds like he touched her arm in a funny way, and we can maybe agree it was an awkward exchange but... There is a lot worse things in the world... Why is this still in the news?

For me the point is this, he did something he shouldn't have, and he apologized - fine.
Years later that gets dug up, and someone says " you did something bad"
      He say, "no I didn't!"
Then goes on to say how well he remembers that day and says that he cannot remember anything bad happening,
someone points out that something bad did happen and he says, "well I don't remember that, but if I apologized it was because the other person was hurt,"
If that was a tweet, it'd have had #sorrynotsorry written at the end of it.

I still believe the simplest answer is probably the right answer and that he actually did something wrong, but it was also almost 20 years ago so I don't really care.

    • @BurnettGaming
      @BurnettGaming 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Well someone working might be less receptive to advances than someone out doing something on their day off or whatever. When you're at work and your job is to interact with candidates and political figures, you don't get to back away as easily if they're making advances on you, whereas a random citizen can. It's an accidental abuse of power that he admitted to doing. He apologized because he realized that because she was required to be there, instead of electing to be there, he had inadvertently used his power over her. Once he realized she was part of the media and had to be there he wanted to correct his behavior and apologize. The person he was forward with even said that she didn't consider it sexual harassment or anything like that.

I'm a boring adult businessman who went through the motions of checking Logan Paul out after DeFranco called him an irresponsible monster. It turned out that DeFranco was full of shit, and Logan Paul is amazingly talented, amazingly energetic, and he censors the program for young children. On the "suicide video" 85% of the episode was an anti-suicide plea to the audience, directions for suicide prevention programs, and horror at what he saw. DeFranco carefully omitted all that, eh? You may not like watching the sometimes adolescent hijinks, but you should watch an episode or two and you WILL be surprised at how full of shit DeFranco is. I recommend starting off with any of the 3 or so Japan videos. Spend two minutes to locate the suicide one, even. You WILL be surprised at what little old lady/muckraker Philip pulled over your eyes.

We absolutely know, scientifically, that eye witness testimony is unreliable - even when the testimony comes from the victims of crimes. Without some sort of recording of the interaction, it's impossible to know what really happened between the anonymous reporter and Trudeau, but his statement is correct that people routinely walk away from interactions with disparate understandings/memories/experiences of how those interactions went down. He is a Canadian and apologizing is part of the culture - a sign of commiseration not an admission of guilt.

    • @PeachysMom
      @PeachysMom 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Exactly. Anyone who thinks that witnessing something means you know what actually happened, should check out the “brainstorm/green needle” audio illusion.
What you hear utterly depends on what you expect to hear, it’s completely dependent on your preconception.
That can be generalized to apply to anything a person can hear or see... what the witness reports might be completely subjective, while the witness knows it’s true.

_"There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith. Ain't that a bitch."_

I think it’s true, two people can definitely experience things differently. Especially when in your teens/20’s aka whilst they’re young. One can think they’re having a great time laughing, flirting, kissing, touching etc. The other could be feeling uncomfortable/pressured with what the other is doing. Some people freeze and struggle to say “no” in the moment. If he’d forced/pressured the woman into doing stuff it’s obviously still unacceptable no matter what age they were. This is the first time I’ve heard of it so I don’t know what she said happened. But I mean they could have been kissing, flirting and he grabbed her bum or something. I don’t know. Again I’m not saying it makes it right, I’m just saying 2 people can experience a situation differently, especially if she didn’t say no at the time.

Jade Welch "He said, She said" can be a very slippery slope. We learned this with sexual assault allegations all over in the states. Even if it isn't true and she's lying, the reasonable doubt is there now and will follow him forever. How can men and women interact anymore but at a safe distance across the room? What if he DID grope her? Does him "recollecting" the situation differently mean her truth may be counted??
      Dangerous territory this has become.

"she" didn't say anything. Some anonymous source dug this up, the woman wanted nothing to do with this news breaking out, and after being harassed by the media released a statement saying she would not pursue it at all, and really doesn't fucking care. He touched her ass at a music festival when he was 28 years old, didn't pursue her further, and promptly apologized the following day. He was not in a position of power or authority, he was just a 28 year old dude who's father happened to be a former PM. This news being brought to light was clearly an attempt at political sabotage, and was done in a completely disrespectful manner to the women involved. Shameful reporting.

Jade Welch I agree with you about perception of 2 peoples experiences they can have, but want to add to what you have already said and that is the ability to create false memories. This is a real problem that is has to be factored in situation like these, when there are decades between the event and allegations that come to light! It has been 18 years for this to manifest in ones mind and may have a warped reality as to what really happened. The person at first doesn’t feel much about incident. Now given 18 years to stew about it, twist the memory of the situation and bend it in the reality of what happened has taken on an ugly monster of a memory it never was! Or maybe it’s all true, I don’t know!

Regarding sexual assault/harassment: Perceptions definitely matter. Here's a comparison using the Demi Lovato incident -
She got a prostitute to grab her bodyguard and close friend's genitals without consent. He was shocked and taken aback but it soon became a funny story for him after he realised she was sent by Demi. We cannot call it assault or even harassment if he didn't feel harassed. (let's say this is 100% what happened for the sake of the example)
Now imagine the bodyguard was a new employee, young and from a conservative background, hoping his first sexual interaction would be with his fiancée. Demi sends the prostitute unaware of his perspectives, but he feels violated, humiliated and assaulted. Then, because of this and Demi's ignorance, that's not just harassment, it's assault.
Trudeau is right, perception definitely matters.
Edit/PS: Perceptions of the victim, the accused and general society norms all matter to varying degrees. I'm not using that example to say that the victim's word should be final.

While perceptions matters, its not everything. If I am sitting down in a chair, and while getting up the chair accidentally touches a woman, and she sees this as a sexual advance sure she can believe that, but to the rest of the sane world its not.

Just because it was a funny story to them doesn't mean that it wasn't still sexual assault. It just means that it wasn't something he considered worth reporting. A stranger going into your room uninvited and touching your genitals is still sexual assault whether or not you laugh about it later.

When I was in the fourth grade, a kid in my elementary school class told the teacher that I flipped (the teacher) off under my desk. In actuality, I was cracking my fingers, and from the perspective of the other student without getting the rest of the story, I had flipped the teacher off when I hadn't. Without hearing any more of the story, and taking the word of one good student vs. a my word, the word of someone that was kind and respectful but didn't get good grades on tests, the teacher without as much as a second thought sent me to the principal's office. I told my story to the principle, who luckily for my sake was very fond of me, and so she sent me back to class without any form of punishment. When I got back, the teacher with a voice that should never be used against a child said "What are YOU doing back in my classroom?" I voiced the fact of what happened, and the principals decision, and she allowed me back in class, though she obviously did not believe a word of what I said. This whole situation happened to someone, that being me, a person who did not say a single curse word up to that point, nor did I say a single curse word until my junior year of high school because I had no reason to make those words part of my lexicon until that point, nor did I wish to.
Perspective on something that happens is important, and I've gotten in trouble many times for things in school that I did not do because a student did not like me and decided to tell a lie to throw me under the bus. People lie to harm people they do not like, and many get away with it. I cannot name a single instance where any of the students got into trouble for lying about me to a teacher. And of course perspective is an issue as well. If someone bumps into someone else, it can be considered to the other party as unwanted contact, and thus you can be harmed by it even if there was no ill intent behind an accident.

As much as I dislike my Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, no one deserves to be burned at a stake for simple allegations. It's far to easy for a woman to make a completely unsubstantiated claim about a situation that could be classified as a friendly interaction. I do however believe that Justin Trudeau is being treated far differently in this situation comparatively to others. While the allegations are quite unsubstantial, had it been anyone else such as Patrick Brown, yet again, he would have been burned alive by the media and the people. So while I respect the tameness and peaceful approach the media and population is taking to this situation, I just wish it could be applied to everyone. Unsubstantiated allegations aren't enough to crucify somebody, and should never be enough to crucify somebody. Due process is needed.

Angel George I genuinely don't understand how people say "rhetoric from the left" as if Trump isn't literally on stage in this video spewing divisive rhetoric himself. There are a reported 2300+ detained kids that do not know where their parents are, we have started trade wars with some of our closest allies and biggest trade partners, this is arguably one of the most corrupt cabinets in recent history, still no new healthcare plan that he said would be easy, a tax break where 83% of the money saved goes to corporations and the 1%, and our relationship with our allies has gotten worse. Plus the economy was already doing well when Trump took over and had been coasting for 2 years with all predictions saying it would continue to get better. For the life of me, I can't understand how unemployment can drop several percent under Obama, while he gets zero credit for it, and then drop another 1 percent or so under Trump and he gets all of the credit. I too don't vote strictly left or right (and did not vote for Hillary and still wouldn't if she ran again), I listen to the candidates themselves and determine who I feel has the most realistic chance at improving the country and go from there. Before anyone says the same old "you must watch MSM and they just lie to you and you're a sheep" I actually watched several of his rallies and most of the interviews he did and has done since, even on Fox News, and I just don't see where the confidence is coming from. Everything about him screams conman and he's flip flopped on multiple topics, with video evidence, so often that it honestly feels like he's just winging it.

I live in a province in Canada that is known for its softwood logging industry. This is an industry as old as paper. An every year within the province millions trees get cut down. How is it that the industry does not collapse? The companies that cut down the trees have another division besides the cutting, called re-forestation, where they plant new trees in the areas they just harvested. This is not unique to where I live, most places in USA an Canada practice this type of responsible tree farming. The areas that need to watched are the rain forest of South America. American companies are going in a clear cutting the forests without replanting, because the governments are on the take an not forcing them to re-plant, an this is killing the planet. It's great this kid is doing something positive, it's just not as big a deal as you make it.

Is that 15 million (or was it billion? I forget) trees cut figure a total, or the net loss? Because most logging industries (Aside from the rainforest, sadly) replants their trees, and because of the logging industry, the amount of trees have grown, because that's how you make a sustainable industry. The part of the logging industry that's bad is the one that, ironically, is happening in the most important forests, the rainforests. Which it's kind of hard for us westerners to do something about.

I think Obama was doing a lot more talk show and TV appearances. Trump really doesn't have that option though because he can only really visit FOX news. So instead he does rallies. This is just a guess I have no research to back this up.

It’s very true that we all have different views about our interactions. If I go to an interview I might think I did great but the person interviewing me may think I didn’t. I think Trudeau thought he was within her comfort zone and he also probably might have touched her unintentionally. It was a concert and maybe they were grouped in a crowd. He has apologized for whatever he did. Obviously, it was a misunderstanding because she excepted his apology, said that this is closed to her and she is not perusing anything further. This says more of not only him as a person but her as well that she felt he was sincere. She probably might not have even understood his intent. Who knows!
What I don’t like about this is the very people that would slut-shame rape survivors, that come forth years later, are now against Justin only because they don’t like his politics or him on a personal level. It’s all completely absurd. I doubt Trump even has the selflessness to even think he did anything untoward against anyone much less apologize... especially to a mother who’s baby was taken from her....or a rape victim...or someone he raped...or a handicapped person he made fun of...or the FN world for being such a monster...

I hope they get the kids out safe.
I just watched Trudeau thread the needle. In a nutshell he said "I'm sorry you're upset but I did nothing wrong but apologize if it was taken the wrong way."
Pruitt-"Bye Felecia." (I was just trying to undermine the protection of the environment that we all use and people were being mean to me.) And as a boss, do everything I demand at your own expense while you get me what I want. And they replaced him with a coal lobbyist. These bastards are incorrigible.
These "Democrats" are going to get enough of trying to appeal to Republicans alienating their own base. You don't see Republicans trying to appeal to Democrats. Grow a spine and stand by your values.

As an Oklahoman, I just wanna know... can we have a full audit and review the AG's office for the duration of Pruitt's tenure?
Also... Tester is far better on veterans issues and for veterans than Trump is. I say that as a disabled veteran whose health care (such as it is) is handled entirely by the VA. I'd rather have Tester running the VA than the people who have been, if I'm being perfectly honest--we probably wouldn't have veterans committing suicide by *lighting themselves on fire in VA hospital parking lots* if he was.

Bad people get the most coverage.

20 years ago, he was 26 years old when the "allegation" happens. I'm pretty sure i was an idiot during my 20s. It was around 1998, nobody cared about PC during that time. If people wanna drag things that happens 20 years ago to the present, i can see the current tinder culture to become a big problem for the participants when the anti-tinder culture eventually comes around. Culture standards and expectations change over time, using current culture to judge things that were okay, maybe even expected in the past, is absurd.
Do people actually expects people in power to be saints? They fought for their power and positions and also expected to have no blemishes. I'm honestly speechless by the stupidity in these expectations. Where do these unreasonable expectations come from?
