The whole “Dumbledore is gay” thing really wasn’t necessary. The whole HP series covered that. The story emphasized over and over again the idea that people who are different than you aren’t necessarily bad and we need to be more open minded. Just because you are born a certain way, it’s about your character and merit and how you treat others that really matters.
I noticed that the second actor who played Dumbledore acted like gay. Maybe it was the thing that made JK think Dumbledore is really homosexual. The first actor is kind of more insightful and trusts Harry.

Agreed. As someone who is gay, I was honestly irritated by her saying Dumbledore was “gay the whole time”. Either you are going to include proper representation in your books, or you’re not. I honestly don’t hold it against her for not making the books more diverse - they were written and published in the 90s, when marginalized communities were not as vocal about the necessity of representation as they are today. Additionally, at the time her first book was published, she was a middle class white woman living in Britain - Britain is notoriously a very racist country, and segregation based on class was and still is a very real thing. People of color probably weren’t even a thing that crossed her mind when writing the books, as they simply did not exist in her “world”. Anyway, tl;dr: Her saying Dumbledore was gay was her poor attempt at trying to make her books seem more diverse, in order to win the Gay Vote...but it ended up backfiring because all of us could clearly see this was pandering.
Rowling also used to draw her as a white girl before the movies were even made. Her own drawings I mean.
