  • This is how we built the scale platform for our livestock / cattle scale for weighing our steers.
Here's the scale we purchased on Amazon.

I do recommend it. We used it again today to weigh our steers.

How wide and long is the wood after you cut it

We made it about 3 ft by 6 ft to weigh steers, but you would want to consider the working shoot dimensions when building it.

When cows trampled the cable how did your display act ? Just bought and built ours and display will not act right seems like when you mess with cord on back of display the number drop or act crazy.

It would have an error on the screen, but I don't remember specifics. I did encounter a situation recently where it was erroring and all it needed was recalibrating. I would recommend trying that first.

    Hello. One question please.
    How it works after time

It has worked great except one thing. I've had a mouse that has chewed the cables a couple times. I had to cut off the chewed spot and reattach the cables then all worked great again. If you have an opportunity to run the cables through conduit, I would recommend doing that.

How has this scale held up to the first summer of use?

It has done well. We allowed the cable that connects to the weigh display to be trampled by the cows, so we had to buy a new cable. We now have a method of ensuring it is hung up out of the way. But so far so good.

If it id like the one I had, I didn't trust it. I could see obviously larger cows weigh less the smaller ones. It would also depend where they were standing. The weight would change and I didn't trust it. I'm in the process of biting the bullet and purchasing a Gallagher setup. Seems the main 2 are TruTest or Gallagher. You will pay for this though. I need to be able to trust it or whats the point.
