I do believe that they finally have the right person for her murder. I feel so bad for her husband, losing his wife and then his freedom when he didn’t have anything to do with it. I've always found it wild that Pam was not only the last person to see betsy alive, but also her beneficiary of her life insurance, and the police were still like nah it's got to be the husband.
Especially since he was with several friends that stood up for his alibi and there was footage of him buying drinks from the convenience store. If they would have tested her as soon as he found her for time of death, they would have known that it was impossible for him to have killed her. They really botched this and I'm glad he got compensated.
This case has always stuck with me. I remember hearing about it before he was released! I don't even have words for the level of whack job this woman is.

And since the police were so shitty where they were ...they arrested the girlfriend ( AFTER Mervyn ruptured her kidney...and they totally disregarded the kidnapping. Mary Collins ( Who had 22Q Deletion Syndrome) refused a graphic act and then was murdered for doing so.

I've also been recommending your channel to everyone. I've been a True Crime BUFF since I was 11 yrs old (I'll be 54 in September). I've met professionals in the field and even took a day to myself.. away from Disney World to meet Dr. William Maples (R.I.P.), a very famous Forensic Anthropologist & Author, in Gainesville, FL in April, 1996. It was def one of the best days of my life. We specifically spent a lot of time talking about The Gainesville Ripper, Danny Rolling. And for whatever reason, that day, he happened to have the actual knife that was used in those murders. I know this will sound terrible to most people, but, wearing special gloves, I was allowed to hold it. I don't Brat why. The Brat Pack feels like family now and I'm so happy to feel like a part of this community! I've also lost a bf/best friend to murder in 2000, and in a strange " 1 to 2 degree of separation" type of thing, I've also lost another 3 people to murder... one of them being an 11 year old boy who happened to be my youngest daughter's best friend. If you want to know more let me know. Because NO ONE has covered any of them on ANY True Crime channel. Thank you for all of your hard work !
This is just a side note- but I hate when people judge someone’s guilt based off how they react/grieve. My mother is one of the best humans on this planet, however she never got emotional when she lost either parent. Or good friends etc. if my dad were to be murdered she’d become suspect #1 just bc she didn’t break down and cry but rather baked cookies & cleaned. Bc that’s how my mom processes emotions- she bakes.

I've done chemotherapy & idk, when you're living that life & constantly doing infusions... The world gets back to normal eventually & expecting your significant other to be by your side 24.7 is annoying & unreasonabe. Especially if this was her 2nd run at it. He went once a week always & I would also expect/would want him to go if it was my partner.

This case is diabolical. Who does something like that? I absolutely positively think the right person is behind bars for this crime. Money does crazy things to people sometimes. I still really wonder what actually did make Betsy decide to make Pam Hupp the beneficiary of her life insurance because obviously we can't trust anything Pam Hupp has to say and I don't think Betsy was going to leave her husband. I can perfectly understand how Betsy's husband thought this was a suicide at first because he had absolutely no reason to suspect murder right off the bat. I'm just glad they finally figured it out and put Pam Hupp behind bars but it's a shame it didn't happen before she claimed a second victim. I'd love to see you cover the case of Lindsay Buziak, it's a case out of Canada and still unsolved.
I understand why the husband thought it was suicide. I've seen someone who commited suicide by cutting. And there is a lot of blood. Like, a shitton, more than you would imagine. Maybe not with everyone, but the way this person I knew had done it, there was a really big amount of blood everywhere. The scene looked extremely violent. If the husband didn't see the specific wounds but saw all that blood, it's possible to think it was suicide. Most people have never dealt with a murder. He would've been in shock, he would've been overwhelmed and his brain would've tried to protect him. Betsy was also dealing with a very aggressive, terminal cancer. She had done this huge cruise with all her loved ones, and she'd lives one last Christmas. I have seen people go through cancer including losing the most important person in my life to cancer. It's terrible. It's torture. It often isn't a quick, painless death. Chemo, the other treatments, being delirious from pain, relying on others to keep you clean and fed. All that knowing you will die. I can understand why people choose to end it on their terms, even people who, without that terminal diagnosis, would never be suicidal, or depressed. Yea, Betsy never would've killed herself healthy, but her husband isn't a terrible person for thinking that maybe, with her cancer, there's a possibility. And maybe he didn't even think it was a possibility until he saw her dead. I think it's wrong that the police immediately focused solely on him.
This is not a complaint at ALL, it just so happens that some of my "favorite" cases end up being your short version cases! I would have loved to hear your more "deep dive" opinions of this case, but totally understand the point of shorter cases are to cater to people who aren't like me && the fact that you also kind of have to be a mom every day of the week! 😂😂 Just goes to show the talent that you have even being ABLE to get basically everything in THIS crazy case into 30 mins...it took Hulu like 6 hours. 😂😊 I certainly can't complain about getting a second video each week, in whatever fashion that comes in.
