I love the half tone transposition from the original key. It fits their voices well.

Next time I am giving a talk on driving rovers on Mars and get asked for the umpteenth time why space exploration is important, I will show them this. Excellent performance, and even the selection of images especially in the final part are a perfect combination. Thank you.

I was in the Pacific Youth Choir when we premiered this piece with Chor Leoni. It was truly a life-changing experience. Thank you for allowing us to share that experience with you.

Hi Will! Thank you for message. That concert was pretty amazing, and getting to sing the premiere of the male voice version of this work - and be directed by Ēriks Ešenvalds himself - was a highlight for all of us. We hope you're still singing!

I'm absolutely in love with this piece, and the male choir version lives up to it in every way. Congratulations on a stunning performance!

This is AMAZING- all the voice parts fit together so beautifully and every chord has such a wondrous, full tone. This is one of the best performances of this piece that I’ve heard; Well done!! ✨

This recording was the first piece I ever heard by Ešenvalds, and I liked it so much that I promptly ordered three CDs of his music, including yours - which is much too hard to find on Amazon; I had to order a copy from England! The video really does it justice.
I also love the recording, for mixed voices, by the Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, and I'd hate to choose between them; but I think the Chor Leoni performance, because it uses only lower (male) voices, allows the unearthly sound of the water-tuned wine glasses to come through much more clearly.
Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful music!

Thank you for your message, Barry, and thank you for the kind words about this recording. (We're sorry you were unable to find us on Amazon!)

Ooo, sounds excellent. On a tangent I love Stars, the men's choir version @ th-cam.com/video/BKVV6Q3er7U/w-d-xo.html

YES AGREED. My choir teacher showed me this version in my senior year and it's so beautiful. The original is too but something about this one is gorgeous

Absolutely gorgeous! How was this arrangement prepared/written for the men's voices?

Hi Zaim - thank you! Our director is good friends with Ēriks Ešenvalds and asked him to arrange it for TTBB. We ended up taking it up a semi-tone from its original key, and recorded it on our Wandering Heart album.

@@chorleoni So wonderful! I am usually an SATB person but Choir Leoni is always an exception. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tempo you took. The depth and rich resonance of the low voices give it a grounded, stable feeling of solemn wonder, but that, matched with the slowness of the tempo, is exactly what it feels like to have time stop when one gazes upwards at the night sky and is frozen and humbled in awe of the beauty of stars. The grand, majestic sound is a vivid reflection of the divine and celestial star-lit sky. This just wonderfully arranged and sung.
I was wondering, any way we could access the sheets?

What's the source of the video (as opposed to the audio)?

The video is a combination of licensed stock footage and time-lapses assembled from public domain NASA images.
