Upgrade a VW Bus wiper motor to 12volt and add Safari drop outs.

This week we upgrade the stock 6volt wiper motor with a 12volt drop in armature. We also add a set of drop outs for safari windows. We struggle with a few parts, including the original wiper motor, but we overcome all obstacles and get the job done. It's a long one, but it's realistic in the automotive tech world.

I've had the same issue with the armature on a 12V conversion. I took the magnetic assembly off and had to file down the small cylinders that index the upper part with the lower part, it seemed as if the magnet was not sitting flat, ended up with the armature more centred similar to yours. Also worth noting that the armature is specific to the brand of wiper motor (bosch etc). 👍

I didn’t want to remove the indexing pins on the outer housing. Saw a thread on the samba where they “adjusted “ the center pin. Worked out in the end. There are always multiple ways to do a job. Appreciate your input. 👊🏽
