Maharishi mahesh yogis Transcendental meditation technique and the TM movement exploded as did Yogananda s SRF .meher BAbas myrtle beach ashram. Suzuki Rossi zen center , chogam trungpa. Tibetan Buddhism all exploded on the scene
Prabhupad was a great bhakta, no doubt but his mind could not hold any space to realize different people are born of different natures .some are drawn to devotion and some to knowledge sme are born in countries with rich spiritual traditions that do not believe in Krishna yet all seekers of all paths have an opportunity to reach the highest levels of God consciousness through the sadhana they practice,the gurus they follow etc

He talked with him very cordially and later told one disciple that he is an advanced yogi. So any authority on Vedic faith wont deny other authentic paths. The point is when you add your own cheap concoctions. Many 'yogis' came to the West with their cheap, watered down philosophy. Srila Prabhupada only attacked those.

I remember hearing once that Srila Prabhupada said in response to an environment where there is nothing but meat that yes you then eat it (para-phrased). In his 1936 Vyasa Puja address to his spiritual master, one verse reads: "Absolute sentient thou hast proved, impersonal calamity thou hast moved". This was a big part of what he was trying to achieve - war on impersonalism. Impersonalism probably has affected society as a whole in a major way, hence the need. However saying this, it is required to understand exactly what impersonalism is first hence why people tend to feel aggrieved when Prabhupada is attacking it 'from the off'!
all great answers. SP was practical man, and surely he didnt condoned those who eat meat there where was no other possibility. Those people are born there because of their sinful karma or some others karmic reasons. He was speaking about those who did have option to not eat meat and intellect to understand why not to eat and kill unnecessary.
Such a sweet devotee. I remember as a young bramachari seeing him at Krishna Balaram temple Vrindavan 1990 and being in awe 😊

same ship not be possible because SP ship was cargo ship. They didnt take passagers
