- In this video you will get to see exactly how to do the V/C code swap and height gain measurements of a V and C code spring swap on a Ford Excursion 4x4. Plus other helpful tips to installing these springs. If you are looking to upgrade the leaf springs in your Excursion check out the whole playlist. The Excursion stock springs sag out over the years and really affect how your ford excursion drives and tows. By doing the excursion- superduty spring swap you get a little bit of lift and a way better driving truck. This Swap is effectively making your Excursion an F250 and is know also as the F250 spring swap.
Do you self a favor and buy one of these blades to help you cut the bolts: amzn.to/3BopD4q

I need to do this to mine. The front ones on my 7.3 are flat as my a**. . Also I somehow killed my 7.3 engine gonna go Cummins swap and eat ramen noodles the rest of my life ill be so dang broke 😂
oh man, no fun! Yes spring swap is worth doing for sure!
@@Joe-hu7diwill do. I'm having it done at a shop called Titan Diesel Motorsports in Texas as they live by me. I'm bringing it to them next Friday the 19th and we're planning for a 24v head, VE pumped with a compound turbo setup. They are near where I live so I am gonna try to get some update videos going on my channel
Great video! I may have missed it but what rear springs did you use? Are they straight out of a F250 from a comparable year with no changes? Don’t suppose you have a part number?
They are f250 C code springs, any new ones should be coded like that🤙
How long did it take you roughly
It really depends on your comfort level, I have done it with a helper in like 6 hours. But if your by yourself and its rusty it will take you longer.
Since it's been awhile, how's the ride comfort?
No complaints, its stiffer in a way that makes it feel smoother if that makes sense. Still happy with them, 3 years later.
For the front springs, front bolts, were you able to squeeze a sawzall blade in there to cut the bolts, or did you remove the front bumper? None of the above?
I’ve done it twice without removing the bumper and once with. Doable both ways but the access is much better with it off. But very doable with it on if that makes sense.
@@Geeks4x4 makes sense. I’ve got a ranch hand on the front and was thinking it might be more trouble than it’s worth to try to take the bumper off. But have heard it recommended to remove the bumper. I think I’ll try leaving it on.
Yup, can alway go further if you need to
@@brandonyaw2007if you haven’t done this yet I just put a ranch hand on my 2004 and feel like it makes for way more access than the stock bumper. I’m looking into doing spring swaps now.
About to get the same set up on mine
awesome!
If I do a coil swap on my 2001 excursion do I need to change the rear end as well?
Technically no if your okay with the track width being different or running spacers in the rear. The newer axle is 4 inches wider.
Did you order a normal rear C code spring, or was it "modded"?
These are the normal non modded c codes, modded will put you a bit higher.
Got a link to parts? Need to do my 2001 Ex
shoot jr at ATS (www.autoandtrucksprings.com/) a call, he can get you exactly what you need. I ran bilstein shocks for a long time, but am currently switching to skyjacker for a smoother ride. Use code geeks4x410 at skyjacker for 10% off
What size tires are you running with this combo?
285/75/16
How much more towing capacity do you think you added 🤔
In a legal sense none… but the springs can handle a lot more weight without sagging.
@Geeks4x4 didn't know you where a lawyer too 😄 i'm looking into doing some of the upgrades you have done to have a safer towing truck ,doing some reading and some TH-cam university thanks for the videos 🫡
Ha no but some folks have asked and I sure don’t want to be leading anyone astray. Overall the truck is much more stable with a trailer. If your towing more I’d think the modded c code springs and maybe c code in the front. Best guy to talk to is JR at Auto and truck spring he can tell you exact capacity gains with certain spring codes
@Geeks4x4 yes I have read on a few forums Jr in ATS being mentioned a few times already , he must be THAT GUY 😄, thanks I'll be keeping up with your videos for tips for my excursion.
@@irvinsalazar4477 Awesome! thanks for stopping by, best of luck to ya with the swap and glad to have another excursion fan around the channel!
