INFJ/IEI here (unless I'm a mistype :P) - You took the words right out of my mouth. I've actually left social media groups due to accusations of me being a mistype. I'm generally alright with people suggesting that I might be mistyped if they know me well and their motives are to help me understand myself better. However, sometimes groups seem to devolve into witch hunts to find the INFJ "imposters." Thanks for posting this!
INFJ is the rarest type, so there are a lot of people out there that have mistyped. INFP is rare too (im an INFP) and IMHO people mistype INFP all the time as well. I see it like this if you have taken the test, and have answered the question not as how you imagine yourself, but as you really are then in all probability you are an INFJ. It could just be that some of your prefrences are more or less developed then others.
I've seen your other video on 'my story as an INFJ' and I could relate on pretty much everything you said. I am an INFJ too and just by the way you speak and your use of hand gestures its pretty evident that you are probably an INFJ :)
cont. Personally, what made me the most certain about my type was when I started realizing how behavior patterns that defined me in my childhood was so clearly related to the INFJ function stack. A tip for people is to consider what your family usually to say about you as a child and growing up. Chances are these characteristics will very much align with some of the stereotypes of your MBTI type. Especially the first and second function as you spend most of your childhood in that headspace.
My advice would be to be opened minded about it. I think it's wiser to suspend judgment and forming an opinion when we haven't researched something sufficiently (or at least this is what I try to do and am trying to do). I think a lot of people are rejecting it just because it's new (and sometimes/a lot of the time also due to the way the info is being presented - but less because of the info itself).
There are two groups right now (at least that I know of) that are spearheading this kind of thing. I think it comes from Socionics originally - cause in Socionics there is that aspect of how types look different (but admittedly, I really don't know much about Socionics, I've just perused it a bit to know some of the general stuff about it). But this new methodology is.. well.. new. I think time will test it well and I'm looking forward to that (and I hope to test it personally as I can).
Hey you're that person from Twitter! :). This issue is very complex - and I really didn't even get to present my full thoughts on it in this video. The tough thing is, is that there are probably, in truth I believe, a lot of people who are mistyped. However, the way people are going about it is very counter-productive and not even very accurate. Like, people just end up accusing based on their experiences (e.g. the nose picking). Like, if in their heads they knew an INFJ irl but then they come
What's up dude? If you mistyped as an INFJ then I certainly have as well and, what I mean by this is your way of thinking and personal expression are so similar to my own, we must at the very least have an identical personality type. It is actually quite obvious to me that you are an INFJ. Taking the MBTI was stressful for me. I spent a great deal of time mulling over the answer to each question and whenever I felt uncertain I would ask for my friend's opinion. I originally thought I was an INTJ. This video is a little old, but I will treat it as though it came out recently.
(cont.) across a person who doesn't seem to act the same way as their "confirmed example" of an INFJ, then they are prone to knee-jerk reactions of saying "hey, you look nothing like an INFJ" when they really mean, "you don't seem like the INFJ I [think I] know." But it comes down to a question of what are we really basing our methods of typing on? Hence, my closing thoughts about being in between several paradigms/methodologies and this kind of stuff being the result.
Many great points. And I recognize myself a lot in your manners and the way you talk and reason - You're definitely and INFJ and the haters that posted on you channel clearly have their head firmly stuffed up their asses.
Thanks, I really appreciate that. I have actually made another video but have been procrastinating uploading for whatever reason. Maybe I will do it soon now.
I'm from Twitter too, but I'm actually from Facebook originally (I was in the Socionics group where you posted this video, but I left the group). I noticed many of the issues that you mentioned. Also, some of the reasoning behind typing seems tautological to me. "That person isn't an INFJ." "Why not?" "He picked his nose, and INFJs don't pick their noses." "What's an INFJ, then?" "A person who doesn't pick his or her nose."
I have a little bit. I've taken several tests and have gotten different tritypes and subtypes etc. (and I don't even understand what those mean completely) but all I know is that my main type in the Enneagram is 4.
Oh haha. Lol, like I said (I think at the start), I'm just a terrible procrastinator (as well as very busy w/ college and soccer usually). I tend to procrastinate on things I am more serious about too (which is ironic) - but that's cause I want to do them "right" - hence, perfectionism and procrastination. But I have actually also changed my views a lot on the MBTI, personality theory, Jung etc. since I made that first video. Are *you* still doing MBTI? :)
I am INFJ I know not from just stupid tests but from the description of INFJ. Tests have said I am INFJ but I don't think they are accurate. Doesn't really fk'in matter what type we are but I am a real INFJ if the description of INFJ is even true' but it sounds just like me every time I read the description it sounds me so I have that much faith in MBTI Enneagram well if there is such thing as INFJ since no one is like me I have met. I am impressed though that the INFJ description in 95% me.
That's cool and what are you trying to major in in college? And yes I am, though I am not interested in enneagram. I want to learn more about how Fe and Ti work, (functions I don't have). It's really interesting. Im pretty sure everyone got into MBTI on accident which is kinda funny to me.
I'm focusing on both psychology and humanities :) What type are you? Yeah, well like most things, you just come across them one day or through a random occurrence in life right?
Lol.. I recently just a got a bit of that on my main video. I'm losing the ability to tolerate it. I think I will leave that Socionics group soon for that reason. I can't even have an intelligent conversation about these things if ppl are still insisting on their assumptions. If you are interested in actually going to the next level & getting beyond these things & learning how to actually figure out a person's type, msg me or add on FB & there are some groups/resources I could show you.

"a cynic or a critic"... Amen! I love the way your mind looks at this :) Well explained!
Also, the idea of typing people by their physical appearances and mannerisms was new to me, and I'm still not sure how accurate that is.

LOL It does seem to be the thing. You are definitely and INFJ, like I am.
Oh, yes, the whole INFJ controversy is so dumb as you explained.

Thanks Fay.
Very thoughtful video

You were ahead of your time with these MBTI thoughts

Hmm I don't know what you're basing that off of. I would need some context to that comment in order to respond accurately.
omg your soooo right you

btw. have you looked into the Enneagram and found your type there?
