Just last week I went in blind and watched Eraserhead, never seeing Lynch before. I had no words, had to text my friend because I was just so.....fascinated.
This was the first film I recommended to my now girlfriend when we first started dating 🤣
Glad you liked it. Lynch is definitely an acquired taste. "Eraserhead" is like a nightmare where you're not scared.
LOVE THIS VIDEO! I’m super jealous of that koker trilogy!! You’re very entertaining and insightful to listen to! Keep it up!
Means a lot coming from the Kino-Lord🙏 thank you for the kind words.
David Lynch! My favorite director!
Great haul! You could've purchased the movies online and pick up in store, That's what i did when the glitch was still available. I pick up the Wong kar wai set too.
If you love Toshiro Mifune then I guess it's good you got Yojimbo and Sanjuro.
"Memories of Murder" is amazing and I am not surprised that it's included in every B&N haul I've seen this year.
I am located in Europe, so our Criterion range is very limited, but I hope "High and Low" will get to us one day, cause I would love to have it. The same with "Hausu". We have Eureka edition, but daymn, that Criterion cover is a joy to look at.
Love this video
Great haul and all the commentary throughout the whole video 😂
Please keep making more vids about Criterions 🤓
i, love your background music
Good job on the video! That’s a sick haul!
I did the same thing as you man! Went into the local B&N because the sale had started online, got all my films together, ready to check out…. no discount applied yet..??? the guy informed me that it won’t start in-store until the next day, so I just put them all on hold and picked them up the next morning.
1. Wong Kar Wai boxset (of course)
2. The Elephant Man
3. Night on Earth
4. Sex, Lies & Videotape (blind buy)
5. Taste of Cherry (blind buy)
6. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (blind buy)
Great haul dude!!
Been ordering some online recently. These are all the ones I have so far:
Hausu
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Cure
Memories of Murder
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
The Piano Teacher
Funny Games
Videodrome
Naked Lunch
Fantastic Planet
Cure
Paris, Texas
Also got the Shinya Tsukamoto collection from Arrow which is worth every penny, Kotoko in particular is a masterpiece
Lol the first one made me laugh because I too got the Wong Kar Wai box set. I also picked up the Eclipse Nikkatsu Noir box set, Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Ace In The Hole, They Live By Night, Kiss Me Deadly, Memories Of Murder, Detour, and Rififi.
The Human Condition is good, the first part of it stands alone really well as its own movie IMO. Fires On The Plain has a similar vibe and a more condensed runtime, its about Japanese soldiers in the last days of the Japanese military being in the Philippines.
Great haul bro. I’ve been meaning to get The Koker Trilogy.
Thank you. You can definitely not go wrong with Kiarostami.
"Ride with the Devil" is another excellent Ang Lee film. And, of course, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".
I had a $600 haul as well recently
Rip our wallets 😔
Great haul! I can't wait to hit up B&N this month!
I got Being There, John Cassavetes: Five Films, and The Asphalt Jungle.
Love ur videos man
_Mishima_ is a visual masterpiece. On Kiarostami, _Certified Copy_ is another great one.
The Shining song for the final part in the video, really cool man, really cool!
Did you pick up Deep Cover? I'd love to hear your thoughts on these movies.
A really great haul! I just picked up Paris, Texas; The Before Trilogy, Antichrist, Gimme Shelter, Blood Simple, and Jackie Chan’s Police Stories 1&2
Nice haul.
Love the song playing in the background.. What is it?
30 % off sale I recently got from my trips and I surprises everyone
I watched Koyaanisqatsi for my film class and fell in love with it
Memories of Murder!! Pairs very well with another Bong film, Mother (and even I Saw The Devil, IMO).
House is great and I'm glad you got it for your friend. I'm sure he'll enjoy it. Suspiria meets Scooby Doo meets Spookies!
Eraserhead seems like essential/starter pack Criterion. haha
Are you gonna get any of the October releases? I'm stoked for The Incredible Shrinking Man. I wish they (or any other company) would release more classic sci-fi. Invaders from Mars (1953) still needs a Blu-ray release, damn it!
I didn’t know there was an Election Criterion, I really need that now
Have you seen Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams?
Soooo....you like Asian cinema. Great haul!
You have very eclectic taste :-)
You picked up some good. titles there my friend good job , particularly liked Crash 💥 I'm sure you will enjoy it ⭐👍🏼
How much did you pay for The World of Wong Kar Wai ?
Check out Cronenberg's first film Rabid as well as Shivers.
But now I'm stock with Korean movies damn they are so good:
I Saw The Devil
The Man From Nowhere
Steel Rain
No Tears For The Dead
Old Boy
Forgotten
The Call
Mother
The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil
Train To Busan
The Wailing
The Outlaws
The Witch Part 1: Subversion
The Chase
Cold Eyes
Parasite
And many many more 😆 I just forgot the names there's to many
Nice! The Wailing…👍🏻!
The half off sale at Barnes & Noble is not really a sale since their Criterion selections are priced double what they are sold on Amazon.
For a great Tony Leung (pronounced "Long"") performance, see Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution".
And Tony is MY guy, NOT yours.
Haven't seen any of these movies bc I'm more into arthouse films like Marvel and DC superhero stuff 😌
Is now a good time to say how the barnes & noble website glitched for a few hours on July 1st, which allowed people to order 50% off online?
Yeah.
I too also drove 2 hours to get it a day early and walked away with it 😂
...
Walked away with: World of Wong Kar Wai, Memories of Murder, and The Human Condition.
Parasite
Memories of murder
The devil’s backbone
The grand Budapest hotel
The tree of life
Wildlife
Ghost world
Europa Europa
Should've gotten THE PARALLAX VIEW and TOOTSIE

I think "2046" is superior to "In the Mood for Love".
Very Good Haul I have a similar haul haha!
All That Jazz is loosely based on the life of famous dancer/choreographer Bob Fosse.
I wish I knew about this sale 🤦♂️
First 🔥
IMO - and I’ll understand if you feel differently - Crash has not held up well. It’s almost laughable.
It's supposed to be laughable and always was.
@@stimpy2695 I beg to differ. It was intended to be provocative and shocking.
@@davidsudak5114 That also, but it was always tongue in cheek in the movie. Listen to Cronenberg talk about it now, he calls it a comedy basically. The book mainly intended on being provocative and shocking, Cronenberg knew he was making a dark comedy even back in 96.
@@stimpy2695 Ok, fair enough. Aside from the intended humor …. the would-be shocking subversion falls flat for me these decades later (the sex scenes especially).
@@davidsudak5114 Understood. But, part of me feels like anyone whose shocked by an excessive sex scene is setting themselves up for misinterpretation anyways. Esp. when it's in a Cronenberg film.
