it's not just people who are in wheelchairs that feel invisible. I am an elderly woman and I often feel invisible - even sometimes when I try to engage in conversation and am completely ignored.
100% I live with my 80 year old mum. She suffers from long term anxiety and depression, but she is still quite physically fit at the moment, thank goodness, so she gets out and about when I'm at work. She often tells me that she feels ignored when she is out on her own. Society is generally dismissive of our older citizens. Technology is going to make life near impossible, for anyone who is unable to use the internet. It's a disgrace.
Thank you for sharing that. I make a point of speaking to everyone I see on their own when I’m out and about. I like people and if I can bring a smile to their face, that’s my privilege.
@@isobellickes8543 I do the same here in the Netherlands, I give compliments and make a small talk to any one, young, old, any gender or colour and it makes my heart smile and sometimes the talks are much longer and I ask if they have time to take a cup of coffee or tea. The smile on their face is worth more than all the money in the world ❤ So glad you are loving people too 🥰
This man made me realize that there have been many times when I haven't "seen" someone because they were in a wheel chair. I will NEVER allow myself to "not see" anyone again. Thank you.
@@DaliwolfBacon may i ask what that would be? in my country we give only a certain attention to strangers, so it just never occurred to me to chat with someone on a wheelchair for example, i barely see any in the places i visit. But if i'd be in a situation in which, idk, i'd be a barista (like the gentleman's example) and someone on a wheelchair would come thru the door i'd treat them like the normal person they are.

I know Ray personally . He is truly the kindest, most positive person. Nothing gets him down and he radiates hope. He has been through so much in his life and he still believes every day is a new wonderful day.
I had to use a wheelchair to navigate an airport while recovering from an injury, the person pushing the chair left me at the gate, but then the gate number changed and I was left trying to use the chair on my own - in the crowded airport I got hit in the face by so many people's backpacks and handbags because the bags were at my eye level from the chair - and the physical effort it took to move through a crowd was arduous. It was such a wakeup call for me to 'see' people in wheelchairs - we should all spend a day navigating life from a wheelchair so we can understand how hard it is and be more patient and compassionate toward people who have to move through life this way.
Hat Tip to "The Invisibles"! We learned an important lesson in medical school.( Maybe it's done in more places but I have never had anyone tell me the story.) The day of a huge pharmacology test, there was a bonus question worth 20%. Once you finished the exam, and handed it in, the bonus question was provided. You answered it on the spot and then left the room. "What is the name of the woman who cleans this auditorium every day after class?" That taught ALL of us to see the unacknowledged, the invisible, the quiet, the silently suffering. That one lesson has been worth more than any other education I have ever been provided.

I was at the mall and was waiting at the entrance of a shop for someone else. I was standing and people watching. Eventually, I could see that a person in a wheelchair was approaching the area that I was watching. I turned my head as to not stare. "Life isn't out there, that's not life, life is what you do in here with what's out there, it's what I do in here with what's out there that is my life" amazing quote. Our guide was sulking, there was a kayak race on the same stretch of water he wanted to be involved in, but couldn't get the time off of 'work'. At first I used to ask mum who the person was, but soon got used to the fact that she attracted people. I also had to get used to the fact that if I was pushing mum, I was invisible.
Kudos to this gentleman for ensuring that the chair does not define who he is.
Oh this man is awesome.....I want to be his friend!!What a beautiful soul.😊
I'm 61, viewing this gentleman and how he interacts and has a positive attitude towards life and people; gives me hope of not becoming invisible and if so dealing with it with dignity. Thank you.
Great man, love his attitude towards life 😊.
"Life isn't out there, that's not life, life is what you do in here with what's out there, it's what I do in here with what's out there that is my life" amazing quote. It made me think of the time I was white water rafting with my family in New Zealand, which was a fantastic experience. Our guide was sulking, there was a kayak race on the same stretch of water he wanted to be involved in, but couldn't get the time off of 'work'. As a window cleaner at the time, I couldn't fathom how he could possibly be annoyed to be at work as his 'work' was one of the highlights of my year
What an amazing human being!!!
He's stylish and active.Stay unique and true to yourself, even if you're not generic and conforming.
Stylish, wise, witty. Lovely man.
Plus class & dignity
I love that you start with style and move into deeper stuff. It's fascinating to get glimpses into the whole person like this.
He is lovely in every way--the kind of positive, loving person I like to surround myself with.
Thank them algorithm for putting this video in my feed. That was amazing! What an amazing person! Thank you for approaching him!
