The best part of all of this is spending time with Dad. That part is priceless. (He looked happy too).

Your decision was based on need and better outcomes, rather than just gathering toys to look at, therefore you did yourself and the farm a legitimate upgrade, congratulations Pete. I suppose Hillary will now have to do more chores and clean more eggs to pay back the "Farm kittey" (ha ha).

Pete: Thanks for sharing this video. I can feel your excitement at bidding on the 756 and winning the bid. Good for you. I have followed your channel for some time and I enjoy your work. I loved the MD rebuild series as I collect tractors myself and always look to gain more information for fixing and repairing old tractors. Sorry to hear that you won't be doing any more, but I understand. There are a lot of "experts" out there who can't wait to correct others. I look at this hobby as a fun enterprise, but sometimes it is hard to have fun when I am being reminded of how little I know. While your tractor related videos are my favorites, I enjoy all of your work. Your videos are (to my mind) typical of how farm life was back when I was a child. A farmer had to be able to do many types of work and fix almost anything. There was not money to hire someone to repair things in most cases. I think that you come very close to that idea. In this video you explain your thought process for buying the 756, which I thank you for. I sometimes want to look at my memory of farm experiences when I was young as a stable time. Of course, as you explained so well, even back then tings changed and the equipment on the farm had to change with it. As you say, your enterprise is a living breathing thing and need to adapt over time. It is a business and you have to look at it as a business, not a hobby. Thanks again for all that you do.

That 756 is a nice tractor. Sounds and looks great. The way auction prices have been going lately I’m honestly surprised that you got it for under 15K. One minor correction (and that’s why I’m here!) the starting fluid prohibition isn’t necessarily for pre-combustion chamber engines but for glow plug engines. My old D7s will run happily on ether spray - but they don’t have glow plugs.
Great video. Congrats on your purchase.

I bought my first diesel tractor when I was 18.
    It was a Massey F.
My dad was always critical of my purchases & this was no exception.
It set up high when the trend was the opposite..
But, I bought it to run row crops..
And setting up high , it did that very well..
Soon my dad was using the diesel 90% of the time.
It had tons of power .
Bush Hog , bailer, spreader, planter , discing.
    It did it all...
Im sure you're excited with your new tractor & spreader...
I was more excited about my tractor than when I bought my 1st truck...

The logic of this purchase was explained factually and well thought out. In 1988 I purchased a used 1466 with duals, cab and air. It was a great tractor for me and served my farm well. I sold the tractor to my neighbour in 1996 and 26 years later the tractor still serves him well. I hope your 756 serves you well for many years to come. Love your videos.

The notification for this video came across the top of my screen at the exact moment I was watching you introduce the tractor in your previous video, which made me laugh out loud! What an absolute blessing you have in your father to advise you and encourage you at these moments. I lost my Dad 10 years ago and I so miss him for that very thing, among others. I’m feeling today the same feeling you expressed in this video. Yesterday I drove an hour and bought a used enclosed utility trailer for my farmer’s market hauling. I literally paid almost what a 2023 model sells for (sheesh!) but the older models are better built and I’ve been looking for 6 months for one and they are like a hen’s tooth around here. But, I rationalize it by saying I just bought myself savings in “time and effort” and those things are really priceless at my age. Bootstrapping…just learned a new term that I will be using! I don’t know tractors, but I recognize and really appreciate your passion and knowledge that you show when you tell all about the engines and PTO and the like. Happy poop spreading!

I was born in 1948, so I guess that I am in your Dad's generation. I have a a JD 3020, that had a reconditioned engine, about 15 years ago, with the hp boosted to 75 hp. I don't need the additional income, from the farm anymore, but like to continue farming, for the fun of it. I am still learning, and I gain a lot of knowledge, from your videos. I live in South East Nebraska and we bought a 756 D in 1969. I really loved it. It had the original round muffler on it, and it really had distinct sound to it. After about 10 years we out grew it even as a second tractor. So I traded it for 856 with a M&W turbo, which I still have today with about 9000 hrs on it. In my opion, 56 series was one of great series. By the way you have great videos, keep up the good work.

That tractor is 100% worth what you paid. The neuss 310 is amazing. All the neuss engines were just wonderful. They all smoke on start up. Even my 4cyl 239. Well done. Cant wait to see what’s in store for the 756.

Yes, these german engines are hard to beat.
I own a ih 833 with about 13000h on it without an engine rebuilt, still runs strong and a case ih 840 with 8000h also not rebuilt yet both use the 239

We had a 856 on our farm years back. 14,000 hours before it first major. It just spun a lower end bearing, but dad decided to do a major. I think you will be happy with the 56 series. Make sure you change fuel filters on a regular basis. Great video, farm safe!👍

Yippeeeee! You got the tractor! :) Congratulations, I'm so happy for you! :)) Yeah, I hear ya about how hard it is to make the decision to fork over a large chunk of money for something. But when the reasonings are so clear and it's something you've been wanting for a long time, it was easy to see that it was the right thing to do. Thank you for all the details you went into for making your decision and for the thorough descriptions of what you love about it and why you wanted and needed it. It just made perfect sense. But you know what the best part of your video was? Getting a glimpse of your father and the sweet and loving connection you have with him. He is so proud of you and loves you so very much. It was so clear to see and it even made me well up. I rewound that part of your video several times, I enjoyed it so much. You are blessed Pete. You are blessed. Family is everything.

10gs is a bargan when you consider the headache and cost of a new computerized tractor.

Another cool winter project... down the road!
But then I'm a International fan...
My 71 Travelall was one of my favorite vehicles ever!.. 1210, 4x4 w/392.
Would go anywhere except passed a gas station..
But, fully loaded (camping gear for four + dogs) & pulling a 28' deck boat up to Flagstaff Az. from "the valley" it got the same bad gas mileage.
But never let me down in 15 years.

There has always been something cool to me about having a vehicle or tractor that's the same age as the owner. Looks great! I hope it gives you many hours of work and fun. Also, lovely to see your Dad just wanting to spend time with you. That is priceless! All the best from the UK

I've got a '67 706 with the D310 - This engine is an absolute gem! Parts can be a tad pricey, particularly the injection pump, but it's a great tractor. Also, this engine and all IH Neuss (commonly known as "German diesel") engines have a different start procedure: The fuel pump has a start position. You utilize the same lever you do to shut if off, but for starting, you pull it out ~3/4 of the way; you'll feel it become tough to pull past that 3/4 spot. Once you pull it out, leave the throttle at idle, and press start button - it will start pretty quick and putter for a few seconds - once it stops puttering, push the fuel control lever back in and your good to go. You shouldn't need ether. This is all assuming the pump is in good shape and the settings are correct.

Glad you got what you were looking for. Enjoy using them and hope there not too many repairs required. It's nice too see your dad enjoys his time as well. A 756 is a rare find and 3 point even better.
