- It's our first time diving in Australia in almost 4 years and of course it's our 9 year wedding anniversary. We take my boat offshore and dive a bunch of different wrecks I'd never speared before. They are loaded with fish and a select few are coming home with us to feed the family.

@@DanielMann Just came back from Iceland a few weeks ago. 2 layovers and a combined 28 hour trip, Iceland was amazing but damn the flight was brutal.
Beautiful country. Been there for work quite a bit. Beauty of living in the U.K. is I can fly there in the morning, shoot the interview and be home that night… was a long day though I just admit 😂

Casually spearfishing with whale sounds in the background, could travel to AUS for that reason alone. A well spent anniversary;)
All I think of is all the great white sharks following the whales so not super comforting for me 🤣

I managed to get my wife on a fishing trip during our honeymoon but she has never fallen for that again, you must be pretty good at sugar coating. Surely trout is in the top 5 so versatile, crumbed, baked, numus, curries. Each to there own i guess, keep up the great videos.
No sugar coating necessary 😎 To me trout is just quite bland, loads of things I prefer to eat.
Can we get a top 5 best eating fish video Dan? For trout not to be in top 5 there must be some real tasty fish I don't know about
I just think they are a bit overrated as a fish when everyone says they are the best in the world. Any day of the week I'd rather eat a red emperor, Venus tusk fish, large mouth nannygai, threadfin salmon or goldspot wrasse.

I love diving wrecks! Im real interested in how you made your homemade carbon guns, I always thought those things looked sick.
The carbon guns were made with lots of foam, resin, fibreglass, carbon fibre and plenty of swearing. Essentially you make your core, then using vacuum bagging, add your composite layers on top of that.

I laughed at the proposal thing....because it drew many parallels. Our family was flying out to meet my brother who was on his uni gap year in Australia, and to meet in Sydney for his 21st birthday. Short story was, I'd decided to propose when we did the Harbour bridge climb. I'd managed to get this ring half way across the world and to the top of Sydney Harbour bridge, without being busted. Down on one knee at the top, asking the question, to be met with 'are you joking....?'

What are your top 5 eating fish Daniel? Coral trout definitely makes it into my top 3
I find coral trout a bit bland to be honest. The best part of them for me is the skin. In Australia I'd rather eat red emperor, snapper, grassy emperor, Venus tusk fish or scorpion fish.
5:37 am I crazy or is there some sort of very camouflaged fish on the wreck? Looks like a scorpion fish but too big! I'm not familiar with Australian fish :D
It must be a bit different diving in a Australia after diving around the world for a while
Definitely, fish are much easier to spear and plenty more of them.

I thought it was some sort of mollusc but ended up being empty when I checked it in the boat.

I’ve not given up on it. Still a great mask just very hard to find new at a reasonable price so testing alternatives. Omer is owned by Aqualung so naturally the design of the wolf mask is a similar fit. For me it has the same or slightly wider view than the micro. The lenses are polarised just a coating that adds a bit of contrast to the view. I quite like it and doesn’t darken the view much at all.

11:25 just hold you hold that fish that is not the right way to haul it because it could slide off of the spear gun if the flange is not pierce to the other side of the fish🫡🙏🏾🙏🏾🤙🏾🤿
I could see the barb out the other side of the fish so no problems.
How long you last under water ..in around 15 meters deep??
Depends on the conditions but sometimes long enough to shoot a fish.
What sort of mask are you using ?
I find the C4 falcon leaks with my big Maori nose

Here in the Florida,there is a huge superstition about having bananas on the boat while spearfishing. I’m curious how that got started and why people believe in it.
I think historically if you had bananas on long voyages it would ripen other fruits prematurely and was deemed bad luck as your fruit would go rotten. That’s what I’ve heard at least anyways. Very bad luck in Australian fishing circles too!

Tipp by Dejan Sverko:
Better wear mask over GoPro. This way the mask will lock the strap plastic on the back underneath it and it's practicaly impossible to loose the GoPro.
also, this way, the GoPro feels less "fluttery" and doesn't need to be worn so tight. Changed after Dejan's Tipp, never did GoPro over Mask again.
