Wow, Love this one. Okoume is an excellent choice for a neck because it's so very light yet stable. Helps the balance when you use geared tuners . . . as does that mostly empty, high style, Flukey peghead. The aesthetics are perfect IMHO, subtle with a unique and a lovely motif. And I can tell by your enthusiasm that it sounds wonderful. Wish we could get them in the States.

When great ukuleles like this come along, then people learn not to get to hung up on top brand names. You just really can’t go wrong with this one! Beautiful all solid Koa except for the neck, very high quality build and this thing sustains for days! Not like my Martin S1K that has more of a staccato sound when plucked. This thing is very impressive overall and it even has koa buttons on the tuners and that excellent hard case thrown in for good measure: Then top it all off for under $500.00. What’s not to like?
Indeed a beautyful piece of instrument, but the head stock disturb a little. I'm a sucker for slotted headstock but I want them to be "in two pieces" if you know what I mean. Not just a big hole. Thanks for a good review ❤
I’m looking at the Mr Mai MC-60 as it gorgeous to me and made from koa. It’s $530 on there website and I’m just so confused to if it’s a good decision? Looks wise I love it. Materials i love too. I’m just not sure of the quality of the instrument. Any advice would be fantastic!
It's pretty for sure. When you say it's not got the tone of one of the K brands, what's your opinion on why that is? I'm curious what the actual construction differences are between that and say, a Koaloha that affect tone.
Multiple ones really - the quality of the wood to start with (i'm not fully convinced this IS genuine Hawaiian Koa looking back, and for the price it's certainly not been seasoned for years like the K brands are), the thin-ness of the boards, the bracing pattern and bracing material. I suspect the outer finish is more 'industrial' too. The Hawaiian brand ukes just feel alive when you pick them up. All about resonance and quality of tone. You'd need to play one side by side to see what I mean.

Great stuff again sir. One day, one day I will splash out on a SERIOUS instrument. Once my appalling playing gets better so I can do it justice. Wish the top was flamed but a lot for the money there!

Looks like a nice one. I always hated those Fluke head stocks (they look have an 1960s "space age" toy look), but I like the head stock on this.
