30 years in Dc-10s and 747s. Jimmy you just made the ultimate discovery! Higher and faster can be funner. Especially if your not paying for it! I’m 70 hrs old and still flying a DC-10 fire tanker and trying to save my 340. Jimmy you are an aviation inspiration to thousands of people discovering the joy of working on and flying planes. Rock on Jimmy!!!

      Mark,
I spent 20 years working on DC-10s as an A&P, and built CF-6s for a while. I miss that airplane. Good luck with your 340.
When you guys started with that 10-10, I was hoping you would get some -30s in your fleet.
The CF6-50 is a much better engine than the CF6-6, and both of those run better than the JT9-20 and -20J.

    • @markbaird4924

@@rudedog302 Love the CF6-50. Great engines….we had them on the World Airways 10-30s. We had Pratts on the B-744. Never had to shot one of those down either!

Jimmy, you know you hit it big time when flying an airplane, you're sitting in-front of the nose wheel.
A friend owned a Lear 35 and up graded to a Challenger 604 a few years later. That aircraft burned 1700 lbs/hr under 18,000 feet, and under 900 lbs/hr between FL22 and FL45.

Jimmy, this is so funny. My dad was a Capt. in the Civil Air Patrol and he was in his 70's and did the same thing. He would walk around civil aviation in Medford, OR. and see if anyone had a seat that he could ride along. back then (early 80-90's) he would give them a twenty and thank them for the ride. He loved aircraft but never could afford to own one. great videos

Great viewing Jimmy! With the severe supercell thunderstorms even a Citation CJ-3 at FL450 can’t climb above the anvil cloud… such CBs can rapidly convect way beyond FL550 and demand respect, producing destructive winds horizontally and vertically, microbursts, plane-busting turbulence, gigantic hail, thousands of lightning⚡️ strikes, tornados and massive rates of precip.

Those avionics looked awesome, oh look, puppies! The jet I have a thing for is the Pilatus PC-24, if you ever get a chance to fly one I'd like to see the video. Always remember if your head is stuck in the clouds that means you're flying, ah ...with zero visibility, but at least you'll have your sweet avionics. Love all the little details you bring, keep it up!

Jimmy, quite frankly I have never understood the economics and cashflow of operating a private jet. Your explanation was perfect. Finally I understand from your explanation of how money/cash is put into the front of the converter and "passes" through the converter, you called it an "engine" I think, and then there is no need to worry about that money anymore since the converter/engine simply turns it into noise. Now I understand. Great video, Jimmy!

Super job Jimmy getting a ride on a jet like that. Wow, was that a beautiful aircraft or what. Must have been a wonderful time for you. Wow.
I know on a lot of trips in the Air Force got to visit the cockpit on many different aircraft and that was awesome. As well as watch a tanker refueling another jet. Once in a lifetime experience.
Glad for you that you got to do this. Kind of spoils you I think. Remember this ride forever.

I have to drop a quick shout out to your sponsor Flying Eyes. I finally got to use them in the air on wed. OMG they are life changing! I put the headset on and felt nothing. Didn't loose any passive or electronic noise reduction. Not an itch or sore, nothing, just pure comfort. Spotting traffic was wayyyy better. Maybe because I have flown with polarized lenses in the past and these aren't polarized. But my friend even said something as he was impressed at how well I was spotting traffic. I felt like I had special radar vision. It was incredible. Every pilot should have them. I purchased the progressive lenses and I love them. THANK YOU for the 10% off and thank you Flying Eyes for such an awesome product. This comment not sponsored lol.

Gaaaaaahhhhh!!!! Jimmy! Ya Killin me bro!! Every video you produce, makes me more n more frustrated that I'm not a pilot[yet]! Lol [but in a good way]... love the hustle, love the motivation, and it helps me in my own motivation to get my license [finally] as well. I started way back in my early 20's, but as you are well aware, life happens, and certain things take a back seat (life, marriage, kids, careers, businesses, etc.) Man... keep on putting out this content brotha.
Side note.... I was driving home the other night, and we saw a private jet flying pretty low, and I said to the kids(I have 4) I think that jet is landing at our local Airport( here in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma). Well it was and it is based here! What is it? Only a Cessna Citation duh! Hahahaha...
Maybe one day if I hang around the airport long enough, I'll become friends with the pilot, and can get a ride on it...
    #clearprop!!!

Jim, you say how it flew just like a small plane. I know what you mean. Many years ago when I was a relatively new light single PPL having trained on Cessna 150s and 172s I was privileged to fly the British Caledonian (a UK airline now long gone so it shows the era) DC10 full motion simulator that the airline pilots train on. I did pretty well and the instructor in charge asked how I'd like to try to hand fly a landing into Kai Tak. I jumped at the chance just as you would have done. It was just the same as flying a small plane and I made it - you have to control airspeed and rate of descent just the same then cut the power and brake on landing (OK I was shown how the thrust reversers work but that was no big deal). I would love to have been a heavy iron pilot but there weren't the opportunities around then that there are now, so to my eternal regret my career took a completely different path. But at least after more than 50 years (my first training flight was 29 minutes in an Ercoupe or Aircoupe as it was called in the UK in 1968) I'm still flying. Any young people now who have a hankering to fly I say just go for it.

Hey Jimmy, sounds like a great plan! I myself would also love to fly a private jet one day. And it doesn't necessarily have to bankrupt you, you can start a company and become sort of a high profile taxi driver (for lack of a better word) and fly costumers to other places or rent it out entirely and let other pilots fly (that's how the rich pay for their jets ;) ). Good luck and keep up the great videos!

The opportunities that come up when you are just hanging around the airport are amazing. Got a ride in a Goodyear Blimp one evening. Even got to fly it for a few minutes.

That was great. Very glad you are working out the 310. It would be a real shame to see it go down.

Nice to see you kept quiet during the flight... a lot of TH-camrs forget when to stop talking (most have verbal diarrhea). Love the channel!

Hey brother, no joke, keep that reciept on you. You might get arrested for stealing the car you returned. Hertz is now infamous for it. On a side note heck of a Rockstar ride you took

Hi again Jimmy, good going, up up and away. Glad you're going to finally get your jet! Please keep a hold of that 3 10 also. 9 mi up wow. Wouldn't it be great to get up to 18 miles and do 600 mph. Well thanks and keep them coming. Adios for now
