haven’t watched your channel for a while. impressed by your sense of humour, thoroughness & mechanical preparation. “the engine & undercarriage of more concern than the frame”. really liked the plug cleaner/tester demo. “your concern about cylinder temperatures during takeoff.” what a way to end with solo test flight & 90deg bank!

21:13 to 21:42 - sounded like it was the stall warning was going off, but I think it was electrical interference into his radio... might want to see if a radio wire is routed with a power wire or the shielding is damaged.

    G'day,
Regarding the Headphone Noise while idling and Preflight Checklisting...; my speculation is that you're maybe hearing Radio Frequency Interference emanating from the Alternator's Regulator - as you sit there at low RPM, Radios on, Ignition consuming Current but the Alternator turning almost too slowly to make sufficient Current to run it's own Field Exciter Circuit...
So as the Battery Voltage drops the Regulator is pumping as many Amps as it can feed into the Stator Coils, trying to produce a Field sufficiently strong as to generate Current anyway..., because that's what the (Voltage) Regulator on an Alternator is built to do.
And my guess is that somewhere in that Circuit there's some Sparkage occurring which produces a bit of Radio Frequency Interferance which somehow avoids the Ignition-Noise Suppression Technology built into other parts of the Electrical, Radio, and Intercom Systems.
It's a complicated guess, but it might perhaps possibly be not entirely wrong (?) !
    Such is life,
    Have a good one...
    Stay safe.
    ;-p
    Ciao !

Went to Fantasy of Flight today, lived in Winter Haven for over 5 years yet it was the first time I visited the Museum. Kermit Weeks owns 180 aircraft, we got to see maybe 15. It is about as close to you as it is to me. I really appreciate all that you are doing to bring so many planes back to life. I flew for over 40 years but did not have the desire you have to bring back the abandon. Keep up th good work so we may live the adventure you are creating.

Ok Jimmy, I have an idea. Find a piece of property of course to stage the plane. Get it all repainted and updated inside. Then do electronics to make it the largest simulator in the world. Have the windows turned into tv screens that would make it appear you are in the air. Maybe even have the plane on a platform that would coincide with simulator to recreate taking off, landings, turbulence, etc... Make it one of the coolest airbnb’s (pun intentional) ever created. I’d pay to experience it. My imagination would run wild with it.

You have a noise, remove everything that is not part of the aircraft, test run it if the noise is gone, you need to pack the things you carry better. If it is still present, you need to look for things that mite be getting loose, control rodes , hinges , interior trim panels, wiring harness , battery box and covers , or just wait until whatever it is falls off.

18:19 - More fuel does indeed cause an engine to run cooler but this is called a rich mixture rather than a lean mixture which is what you stated. If you lean the mixture of fuel vs air this causes an engine to run hotter. The best way to go about making changes to the air fuel mixture would be trying to aim for the ideal stoichiometry for the fuel you use in relation to the forever changing atmospheric air density i.e. the higher you clime the less air there is to combust with the fuel.

I'll mention it again. Get one of those scrap jet fuselages, and auto body it into a party bus. A guy did a Lear jet, you can see it on youtube, he's asking $5,000,000 for it. He put way too much in it with disco lighted floor, and ceiling no less. You put $50,000-$75,000 into it, get it good looking, and street legal you'd easy get$500,000-$1000,000 from a limo company. If I had the money I'd do it just to sell it to buy one of those under a million dollar jets to donate to that flight school that helps military pilots get their civilian rating. This is a straight forward "get 'er done" project.

I've always been in love with the Lancair, especially the four-bangers, as they seem the most reasonable and good bang for the buck. Not saying, that a a couple of wings strapped to a TSIO-550 wouldn't have its own appeal. But then, one can always go full Garrett 😂

Sparkplug sand blasters can cause sparkplugs to foul quicker than normal. The abrasive etches the porcelain and carbon deposits quickly adhere to the etched part. I would recommend you use a chemical cleaner that removes carbon.. Use a product called "Carbon-Off" If you insist on blasting the plugs heat them thoroughly with a propane torch. This will burn off any oil deposits and help prevent the abrasive from sticking deep down in the plug.

If you will grind down the closed side of side cutter plyers until the bevel disappears, you will be able to eliminate the razor-sharp edge of a tiewrap that is cut with side cutters that have a beveled cutting surface. Cutting hard materials may roll the cutting edge so make the modified tool a dedicated tiewrap cutter.

I know of a decent 175 with a prop strike 0300 on it. Guy ran out of money. You could do the o-360 STC on it and sell, or something. Maybe update interior.

Jimmy, I love your channel and your content. I do have to ask........Why the crazy sketchy floor jack set-up when a heavy duty bottle jack can be had for under a hundo??? Keep up the great work and stay safe.

They are fast, economical. The only thing is I have trouble fitting in those little airplanes, I don't find them very comfortable.

I’ve sent a couple leads for project planes that look like they could fly with minimal reassembly. I never hear back so I don’t know if they aren’t what you’re looking for or if you don’t have time to see all of the messages. I sent a couple emails and one Facebook message on the merch page.

I used to work for Lancair, there was a poster of a 320/360 with a lovely brunette leaning on it that said "Until Ferrari builds an airplane, this is it."

Along with all the new fancy flashy upgrades planned, maybe an electric constant speed prop is on that list? Lovin what you do, good sir. Keep 'em coming! 🤙🏽

Happy New Year hope 23 is great for you and family.. If you ever are looking for something to get more viewers. If you had MFS2020 and Discord you might consider a group flight depending on time of day.. As I am in the UK but would be interesting to see how many of your You Tube followers would like to do a special flight with you from Plant City....Just a suggestion.?

Nice dry engine... I'm guessing he means there is no or very little oil spotting around flanges and seals.

Yes... You’re spot on! Perhaps I could have been more clear on my reference.
