On behalf of all newbies to Inkscape that have ripped their hair out and said every curse word ....thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this video. ❤️❤️❤️ Such a big help xoxoox
Thank you!!!! I’ve been a design space user for years and thought the glowforge interface would be comparable. Not.. I’ve been really struggling with text in it. You are helping me immensely.
Thank you! I am starting from scratch here- new to Glowforge and no knowledge of any of these programs (I’ve only ever used AutoCAD suite). So going step by step of basics is SO helpful.
Thanks for watching! I struggled a lot at first too. I find going slowly step by step was something a lot of other videos lacked so I wanted to produce something that is similar to the way that I learn 😊
THANK YOU!!!! Got my glowforge 4 weeks ago and stalled making stuff because I needed the basics of inkscape before being able to use project specific videos!!
Thank YOU! I have been looking EVERYWHERE for how-to videos, and yours has helped me the most!!!! So clear and straight to the point! Thank you so so much!
I struggled with just the same problem. I am a new glowforge owner and Inkscape user. I was trying to make some business cards on cherry veneer pieces. Finally I used the glowforge user interface to produce the product but I was having issues with text size and placement. I did find the solution after many failed attempts. I will look at all your other posts. Thanks for your presentation.
Thanks so much for watching. Inkscape is SO hard to use and I had to figure out so much by trial and error. Thanks why I made these videos. Let me know if you have other questions!
Thank you soo so much for these videos! This is the first I've watch so far but I just got a glowforge and watched a different youtuber and she made it look so difficult! You're making my anxiety disappear, phew!
@@LaserAndLearn Hi! ☺️ I have a question I'm really hoping you can answer.. so I'm working on an earring that has a couple very fine details for engraving. I don't use Glowforge proof acrylic so I'm having a hard time making the engraving smooth and the detail as good as the drawing.. I've tried a technique from another TH-camr using defocus of .2" and 170 LPI, while in most areas the engrave was nice but the fine details were no good :( I tried reaching out to Glowforge support but they said since the acrylic isn't proofgrade they can't help me 😩
Hello Rachel...and thanks for the video...I'm struggling with my glowforge especially now that they removed the fonts and designs. Can you please show me how to copy and paste a design. So, that glowforge can do several design cuts at one time!!
I do ctrl c then crtl v. Then I might drag the mouse and highlight everything and do the same steps if I want it all with more copies and then drag to organize. Let me know if you have other questions!
Hey RaChel, I'm having an issue with Inkscape. I have lines showing up on my cut file, but not showing on what I saved Inkscape. How do you get rid of line without starting over? Its a line I accidently drew with the line icon. I thought I erased with the eraser, but it still showed up in the Glowforge software, please help.
thanks for watching! So once you object to path, go to the nodes button (second button on the left, below the pointer clicker button), and it will highlight the path. Then make sure the whole word is highlighted, then click path to union and they will all unite! :)
Not quite. Combine is where separate shapes are not put together as one image. Union is where they are welded together. I know that sounds confusing, but for example, if you were to combine letters that were cursive, it would be like if each individual letter were still distinct, but you could move it as one piece. Union is where you connect the letters so they run together like regular cursive without gaps in between. There are different uses for each. Combine I use when I don't want my 2 shapes (like a circle and square that I put on top of each other) to go together, but want them to move at the same time. Union I would use when I want to weld the two together and make the square and circle come together to make a new shape. Does that make sense? Let me know if you need additional clarification.

thank you this was perfect
New to the ink scape design space. How do I combine cursive letters so they don’t get cut individually?

Combine and union are the same?
