It might be a bit if a stretch but what about the Comfortably Numb solo from the Pulse tour? That was the one that was voted the best solo ever, and there's no channel that has broken it down yet (there are covers with tabs, but not a full lesson on it), which is really surprising.
John's picking hand during the intro (the one while he is sitting on the couch) looks so out of control yet he plays it clean and perfect! Changing subject a little, I'm soooo glad he rejoined the band! The whole band is better when John is there, kind of an entourage effect! They were clearly meant to make music together!
0:27 The amount of space John gives to the pick is insane! Even hitting the pick guard with it. Maybe that's due to him chilling which may throw off his hand position, as I can't see that heavy picking style in the live version at all. Just amazed he still went through that riff with that "pick depth".
This lesson was great. It took me a long time to learn this song, and play it at speed, but something aways felt slightly off, and it was down to the picking on the last 2 notes. After the trill, I was going up then down and it's really surprising down that little distinction can make a massive difference. I've played it like that so many times it's became robotically automatic, and I think it'll take a bit of playing before it becomes habit to play down, up, down up, down, down, up. Thank aglain, Gary. This channel is by far the best on TH-cam for guitar lessons (or the best for the level I'm at). The epitome of quality over quantity.
Hey Gary really enjoyed this lesson , , I'm currently doing a Frusciante players study here in the UK , I'm looking at your Frusciante videos for further learning and instruction , again brilliant instruction Gary, and I do remember those Sunday evenings with the group , this is tricky but it sounds great, down up , at the down up , your right Gary is brilliant practice routine for your picking slowing building on it working on the first section mastering as best I can then go to next
Hey does the Patreon video go over how @soucuz's prechorus seems kind of different from what John does? btw the fingering for C#m9 with John chord is off, you've got the pinky and ring finger reverse, yours says pinky on high E, and ring on B, but it's the reverse.
This motivated me to pick up the guitar as well! Its a tough one but I got a decent bit down in a day. I posted a video with progression throughout the day
"It's been done before Jimi Hendrix style, so I decided to turn my most annoying arpeggio exercise into to the main riff for one of our guarantied hit singles on this album, that I'll have to play in every concert from here on out" - John Frusciante. I guess that's why he needed a break from the chilis after the stadium arcadium tour :D
Don´t try to play with others styles like finger picking or whatever. It only works well with alternate picking. It´s strange in the beginning, but it rocks as this video!!
I posted a video of me trying to learn it in a day as a complete beginner. I recommend getting the hand positions down as chords and moving between them comfortably before even attempting the picking and pull offs
if you keep learning you generate more questions and if you know the right questions to ask, you can learn so much from a google search and youtube.. and the cycle repeats
This is some of the most confusing shit i've ever seen and I actually know how to play the song. Please include this feedback on your "testimonials". I think you might make more money by saying, "try to learn this by ear, then try this method and see which one wins out.

@@raoulduke344 great suggestion!
One of the best Jimi Hendrix techniques used for a 21st century music hit.
John gives the credit to Jimi, but it's not really a Hendrix technique. It's just arpeggios with hammer-ons.
The whole is much bigger than the sum of the parts here!

Totally, I talk about that later on in the video- how in the intro he’s really stabbing at the strings, but when he plays it live, it’s very flowing

What a great lesson. Very detailed. MUCH appreciated man. GREAT video.
Thank you!
I love how he refers to Jimi Hendrix. Standing on the shoulders of giants. Always developing further. Great.

That's probably the best lesson for this song, thanks for doing all the work
Wow what an amazingly detailed lesson, honestly one of the best lesson presentations I've seen
You are in good and great teacher my friend from Switzerland
John is my one main guitarist.
That lick always sounds as it should have been on an Axis:Bold as Love outtake. John is a genius and the heir apparent to Jimi.
I love these videos, one of my favorite channels. Thank you!
Thank you Pow san,
Good and beautiful chords works.
👍😎🙏
Браво Маэстро! Отличная работа и шикарная песня ! Однозначно Лайк! Берегите себя! 🎸🎸🎸💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
This is great. Thinking about your classes after this! Curious, how do you do the animations for the notes? Any software in particular? Looks great!
Fantastic lesson for a challenging song.

John was the heart of the Chilli Peppers
Pow, You are the best, thank you so much!

This amazing guitarriskiz skills are beautiful and very hard to play.
Question....So basically they are using the caged method?
Will Farrell?
It did so sound like Jimi Hendrix still 😅
I’ll need a run through a 5 bpm.
😂 use that playback speed control at 25%!!
