Devadasi (Documentary)

“Devadasi” means servant of god. In modern India, the women of lower caste are subjected to the treatment, dedicated to the goddess are nothing other than a child prostitutes or a sex slave who are dedicated in the age 10 to 16 years.
We took a trip from Bangalore to kudligi in Ballari dist, which is 340kms and stayed there for a week to conduct this documentary, also to understand the lifestyle. This journey has opened my eyes on many topics and the awareness of this situation can help the status of these women which can get them facilities for their life.
The Caste system still prevails, unfairly. Many young girls of the lower caste still face the burdens of the age-old traditions that tie them down to the Devadasi Way. To this day, many girls still get initiated into this atrocious system without choice and as a source of income for their families, bearing the burdens of infection, starvation and in some cases, Death.

Remove the caste system, if the govt really wants to help people, they should give reservations based on socioeconomic status not caste. And then they complain why the caste system still exists.
