  • Part 2 is all about the agility techniques in Muay Boran. Many of the agility moves such as the jumping, climbing and rolling moves have usually been featured in public celebrations all over Thailand. This can include events such as the king's birthday, festivals and national holidays. These agility or performance techniques are meant to impress the public with an exaggerated version of Muay Boran techniques.
While these performances are a normal part of Thai culture, many outsiders view these fancy techniques as being ineffective and unrealistic for fighting. Indeed, many moves are stylized for performance purposes, but there are also inherent benefits in doing agility techniques which will be highlighted in this episode.

It's not useless 😞 it's useful when you have to fight bigger opponents. There's no rule in war and Burmese is usually way bigger than Thai. You lose in reach and weight 😭 so how can you fight them ? How can you knock them down or kill them ? The taller they're the easier to climb their limbs and attack their head!

Muaythai Boran was developed in war time where we don't have steel weapon for every single foot soldier so we've to used unarmed martial art instead.

when we refer to these techniques, we are talking about today's fighting environment, not the past. and we also take into account different types of opponents, not just Burmese. in any case, the agility techniques that are more for show can still work but they must be modified for contemporary fighting.
