- In this episode, we're back at Mitch and Taylor's house to complete a Lawn Renovation. This lawn had a major Lawn Grub infestation shortly after installation and they have battled Couch Mite and Weed outbreaks throughout the year also. So, it's time to press restart and give this lawn a new lease on life.
Keen to see the recovery and how its going in the coming weeks!
Good advice on the top soil.
Thin and often works good throughout the season 👌.
Gives you a bit more time with green lawn also. I went super thick with my reno last year just to use up the material more than anything. Will be going a lot lighter this year
Soil looked hard for the aerator
Yeah, it struggled more than I anticipated in some sections. I think we probably should’ve watered it a bit more in preparation but it still pulled decent sized plugs
Just did my first reno on my little 6x2m pool section. Been driving me nuts for 2 years. Went very hard on the scarifier. Cored and gave it a good top dressing. Probably a little to much but im okay with that as i needed it to come up a bit higher. Cant wait to see it in a few weeks time.
It’s a lot of hard work, but so good to see it all come back through. This one has definitely been worth the effort
@lawncareaustralia8796 hired the same corer to do the rest of my yard omg. Whole place done in 20mins. Ended up buying one!!
A good reminder to get the reno planned, looking for a good quality top dressing.
Still can't decide between the Tiff Tuff and the Tahoma31 to replace the front and side.
I am interested in your opinion with the negative vs positive.
We’re pretty lucky up here with a number of quality suppliers. It really depends what you want to get out of your lawn in my opinion. What one person would see as an advantage might be a disadvantage to someone else.
11:12 is that leveller ok? I bought a similar one with round bars underneath and haven’t used it yet. I’ve seen another type that has a flat bottom which might be better.
Will that pre emergent not slow down the recovery that soon after a reno? I read they can cause root pruning
You’re correct, Prodiamine can cause root pruning. It’s okay to apply to turf that has full coverage and roots to a depth of 3cm which this lawn now has though. The only concern here is applying it to turf under stress. However, they were on a great watering schedule helping to bring it back. It’s almost fully recovered now about 3 weeks later, so it didn’t seem to slow it in any way. If I went any harder on it with scalping/scarifying and a thicker topdress, then I probably would have waited.
You're 100% correct. Every renovation you do, you should only ever put pre-emergent down after the lawn is well & truly re-established
Great reno video, that lawn will come up amazing. Random, but i really like the fence. Lush green lawn against the beautiful white fence will look fantastic.
Hahaha that’s why I film there - such good contrast. Yeah, they sent me some photos yesterday of how it’s looking and I’m excited to get back and film the update!
