    i find it easier just to pull the front knuckles and pull out the front driveshafts unbolt the front differental and just pull the whole thing out the front.. propshaft and all rebuild the propshaft bolt it back on the diff and shove the whole thing back in very fast as long as front axles pull out and they should be greased in the sockets anyway

    Easier way to access the roll pin up front is from the passenger side wheel well, remove wheel, and lower a arm, turn prop shaft to position the pin sideways and drive it out from the side instead from underneath of vehicle.

    Just did my 2012 800. sprayed pin the night before, knocked it out with heavy hammer and punch (tough job but got it done) Things you have to do: this year has the air pipe, you'll need to remove it to pull prop out the front. Came right out when I got pipe out of the way. Putting things back together was another job, toughest part here was putting the plastic pipe back in. Don't waste your time trying to pull over the frame.

      800s are a totally different beast than these 570s

      @@OldGlory1776what 570s? Your title says it's an 800. I have a 2010 800xp and wonder if the shaft can come out the front or the back, or which is easier.

    Best way to do it is take the front bumper off take the Gary case off take everything off and put a rope on the u-joint at the back pull through from the front end and then you don't have to remove the skid pan even even that air box hose I've done it twice several years apart of course

    If you remove front diff won't the shaft pull out front?

    Noticed on the new shaft the yokes are welded on wrong. Probably just like the old one. Too bad Polaris is still having their parts built wrong. The welded on yokes should be in line with each other. I have watched many videos on how every one has worn splines and/or bad u-joints and complained of vibration issues or leaking seals. The real issue is the yokes are not in line. Take it to a machine shop that builds driveshafts and have it fixed right. Problems will go away. Shame on you Polaris!!
    This video is 2 years old but the newer Rangers have Drive shafts issues because of the yokes not in phase with each other. Know of ones taken to machine shop and had yokes cut off, and re welded on. vibration and u-joint problems ended. Some say they are not balanced.....that isn't the problem, it's the yokes not be welded on the shaft in phase with each other, common driveshaft knowledge......

      I didn't realize they are welded 90* out of phase, thanks for pointing that out. That is a stupid blunder on Polaris's part!

      SuperATV makes a really good prop shaft for rangers and RZRs that will outlast the rest of the machine. They are quite spendy though, but may be worth considering instead of going with OEM.

    How about cutting the shaft right in the middle and just pulling it out? Would that be more trouble than it was worth?

    I'm doing this on a 2009 700 xp ranger, I'm at the point where u use a pretty bar to pry it down and back but I just can't seem to get it. What do u mean u out the front time over the front pinion? U mean the front time over the spline it came off of? Cause my direct seen to be able to go on top of the spline. I'm tempted to cut the cross member and re weeks it when I am done.... Suggestions? Thank you

    • @OldGlory1776
      @OldGlory1776  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve- May be too little to late here, but the 700 ranger in the 800 chassis I believe may be a different chassis/cross member setup than the 800s I'm showing in this video. To my knowledge polaris generally recommends removing the front diff and taking the propshafts strait out the front. I just cand say for sure on that model since it was a transition year.

    Nice video.. will let method also work for a 2013 XP 900 ranger?

    • @OldGlory1776
      @OldGlory1776  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, completely different machine. Propshaft has to come out the front

    • @kingdiamondbanger
      @kingdiamondbanger 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OldGlory1776 I still hope it's doable I'm a little bit nervous about getting it halfway done and then running into some unforeseen problems.. after watching your video I was totally confident but now I'm back to fretting about it..lol

    • @kingdiamondbanger
      @kingdiamondbanger 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay I think I found it are you saying everything is the same as on the 570 except for notching that brace out in the front?

    • @OldGlory1776
      @OldGlory1776  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kingdiamondbanger sort of similar, you wont have to notch the front end if you loosen the mounting bolts on the steering rack. The 900 is the most labor intensive machine to remove the propshaft on, but I think you can do it

    • @jeremiahlf
      @jeremiahlf 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      1dads life No. Remove the front gear case and service it on the bench. Once it's out you can pull that prop shaft right out the front much easier than this also.

      I have not, I don't know what's needed to get the jobs done on the crew. I know they're a 2 piece driveshaft with a bearing in the middle. Sorry I can't help!

      Ok just curious my pinion seal on the front keeps leaking ...seal number 4 .... thinking my prop is bent but I haven't heard of many people having this issue

    • @OldGlory1776
      @OldGlory1776  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ethan Duell very common problem. either the pinion seal can be bad, or the square shouldered seal on the housing.use silicone on that one. never seen a bent prop shaft. but they all seem to wobble.

  • @pommier921
    @pommier921 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This will most definitely bend a prop shaft. I have a bent one to prove it. Just pull the front diff and it slides right out the front of the bike ez pz if you know what you’re doing it takes 20-30 minutes to have out.

    • @pommier921
      @pommier921 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Micklin Windham Remove the diff it’s a pretty easy process honestly.
