ME AND MY SISTER CASEY LYNN RAFFERTY AND MY MOM THERESA RAFFERTY USED TO GO TO THE OAKDALE MALL WHEN ME AND MY SISTER CASEY LYNN RAFFERTY WERE YOUNG THERE FRANK.
The new Supercharger at the Beer Tree end makes a lot of sense now. (If that ever gets finished... slated for "2024") This is going to be a big destination once everything is completed at the Commons.
There are no Dave & Busters where I live, and I always thought they were just a restaurant and bar. They kind of seem like a Chuckie Cheese except without pizza. That mall would be considered transitional since there are new stores coming in the same time as some going out.
Judging from your video the Oakdale Mall/Commons is way too crowded for me to feel comfortable. Seems like people were shoulder to shoulder in the hallways.
@@sendculture someone told me that back in the 1970s on a weekday around noon the line at Burger King went right out into the mall. And they had 10 cash registers. That’s how busy the mall was all the time. The guy told me that he was walking past there and he heard a father with a seven-year-old daughter in tow say, “Well, having it my way doesn’t include waiting in line for 30 minutes.” You know, I can’t imagine being at the mall so long that you’d need a meal. An hour, tops, and you should be out of there.
How does a Dave & Busters end up in Johnson City NY in the old Oakdale Mall? I've been in much larger cities that didn't get one or closed due to lack of business. It's wild that Dick's House of Sport and D&B is there. I hope they do well and survive. I'm getting the impression they are trying to make Oakdale Commons a destination location for southern NY.
The parking lot on the west side is still torn up pretty good… Seems like they're replacing some infrastructure before they repave it or whatever they're going to do with it.
The McDonalds was there in the 80's, I doubt there was anything before it? I guess there could have been but that would before my time. I saw Star Wars the first one in this mall so it's pretty old. Not sure when it was originally built?
I question whether there are enough people to support D&B's? It's drinking age people who want to play games, video and other wise. That's how that place makes it's money.
Totally enjoy these
Thanks Frank. I think you'd have a lot of fun working there. Find out what's available.
I NEVER BEEN TO THE DAVE AND BUSTERS BEFORE THERE FRANK.
NOW THAT IS GOING TO LOOK NICE WHEN THE DAVE AND BUSTERS IS FINISHED.

In the '80's they had an Aladdin's Castle arcade there. Fun times!
See? What was old is new again!

I remember the Arby's in the mall. That's when I used to work at Macy's.
The new Dave & Busters is doing well. But I worry about the arcade across the hall. Can't imagine the arcade will survive with D&B there.
It's awesome
I was there today! Looked in the windows. How fun!
They sure are putting a lot into revitalizing that mall.
I can't wait to play some skiball
This is where I live
Okdale Common updates are the best!
IS FYE STILL AROUND AT THE OAKDALE COMMONS THERE FRANK?

@@fgpalm MY MENTOR NICK LAPALLO USED TO TAKE ME AT THE OAKDALE MALL AND GO TO FYE SO I CAN MAKE SOME MUSIC CDS THERE FRANK.

DO OAKDALE COMMONS HAVE A GAMESTOP THERE FRANK?
closed
@@fgpalm I BET THERE IS ONE GAMESTOP ON THE VESTAL PARKWAY THERE FRANK.
I was literally there yesterday 6/24 visiting Binghamton after about 30+ years.
Wow welcome back!

Yea Oakdale mall is always bussin all hours of the day. As you can see people are packed like sardines the second he walks in

They made a "package deal" with a mall group-- so they took large locations and small locations with the deal.
BJ’s not having a mall entry is a wierd move
Probably a loss prevention issue
Haven't been there in a while, but hopefully they have improved the parking lot on the west side of the mall. It was horrible.

no piercing Pagoda?
I think there is one or something like it between the south wing and center court. You can see it in one of the old tours
I think because BJ's is a member only store, they strive to make you feel like a member
From Corning, thought the mall closed. And they turned it into senior apartments?? Just part of it?
Noah apartments at the mall yet and it’s actually doing pretty well now that they’ve invested a lot of money in it
Anything going in the former Burlington store
Guthrie owns it
