Love your videos Frank! I think Big Lots played a part in their own demise. I went there pre-pandemic and was shocked at the high prices of the “discount” goods, even back then. Some things (like particle board furniture) were pricier than Target or Walmart. I’m a fan of Ollie’s where stuff is actually cheap. I do feel so bad for the employees of these companies… sounds like they were mismanaged for a long time. The teensy discounts during a literal store closing sale (only 10%!!!) show just how greedy these companies are.

Big Lots said last week, that all stores in our San Diego area are closing by the end of the year. We only have 2 left.

I used to go to the price chopper all the time. Especially the Plaza. It's been over 30 years.

I think especially with party city, covid just showed that internet shopping was both easier and cheaper to many who were not using it.

most recent, with Big Lots claiming bankruptcy, the new owner that they sold their assets and such to, they MAY stay in the area with a new owner.

The advantage of of having a physical store, like party city, is that you see all that's available and you can get ideas you may have not thought of. How can you look it up on-line if you didn't know it existed? I shop in person, not on-line. I want to see something in person before buying it. More victims of the pandemic.

these days I would think most people would learn something’s available by seeing it online or seeing it used in a social media post or youtube video.

@fgpalm - I'm not on social media, on purpose. I'm one of those that like to shop in person. I have to see everything available in person and try it on or try it out before buying. I still like window shopping too. I used to work at a card and gift shop and it was packed every day as we had some of the most unique gifts and games that nobody else had. There's no way it would've done great, like it did, if it was on-online. Plus, we had specialty candies, truffles and made our own fudge and molded fudge products for the special days and all kinds of unique things you couldn't get anywhere else. We even had an adult section that was very popular and wouldn't be allowed online. Thankfully, we still have many malls here to go to.

Now the question is will the Vestal Big Lots be saved. Its kind of a crappy store but they do have good candy and snacks that you cant find other places 🤣
