- Cheetah decides he is going to go nuts when I give him a bath. He has had baths before and never acted like this. He has his claws. I would never consider declawing a cat. I got alot of comments saying I shouldnt have given him a bath.... but im betting alot of the people saying that also have their cats declawed. Also I use shampoo specifically made for cats. Its not like im using regular shampoo. For those of you that think im mean to my cat ..... thats fine thats your opinion. I have spent over $1000 dollars on this cat not including food, litter etc... I really dont care about your opinion of me giving my cat a bath.

yeah 😂 my cat will let me clean his wounds without flinching but if i bathe him in any way shape or form (ive tried many methods) he turns me into a 5y/o scratch post.

@@thegreatdelusion You're obviously lying then. Cats sometimes need baths because of idk, fleas, open wounds, or they get so dirty that they can't completely clean themselves without a proper bath. And some cats dislike it, but THEY NEED TO BE BATHED. Some people give their cats monthly baths. Plus, you can SEE this guy is trying his best to be gentle and calm. You need to realize that sometimes cats get FLEAS and no amount of grooming is going to get them out. So keep your mouth shut.

A little tip for when you are bathing your cat, put a towel in the bottom of the bath so Cheetah has something to grip onto it'll help keep him calm in the bath as he won't slip around as much.

it's not serious abuse but he didn't give a reason for bathing his cat and it's not necessary to give them baths so I think just doing it for no reason is mean if the cat doesn't like it.

By your logic, instead of washing the petrol off so the cat didn't ingest it while trying to groom and clean itself, she should have let the cat just clean off the petrol by itself right? So, SO silly, no sense whatsoever in people that say you shouldn't bathe your cats. Cats (especially kittens who get into everything) sometimes have some truly horrendous stuff getting into their fur either during play time or by accident, and sometimes it isn't safe to let them take care of it themselves, we need to step in and wash it off properly. I give my kittens a bath weekly so that when they get older, if any such thing should happen and they get a dangerous substance on their fur that needs to be washed out they won't be so afraid while having their bath. Baths can even be quite therapeutic for some cats, it's clearly YOU who knows nothing about cats,

Emma Belle though you do have a point with the bathing technique, and there are actual bathing techniques to help with this, I don't think the cat was screaming bloody murder. Cats hate their fur getting wet because the fur then sticks to their body. Also, about "animal in the wild", yes, they have natural instinct, but that doesn't make the bathroom the wild. Also, I don't know if you've ever noticed this, but cats can get smelly, kinda like how our breath stink after a while. Sometimes, it's good to kill the bacteria that their mouths don't really kill. Cats can easily get into garbage, feces, etc, so it might be a good idea to take care of that. And I've seen what bad hygiene can do to a cat. I had an old cat for eight months, and he was abandoned, as far as I know, and he was so dirty. When I gave the poor little guy baths, the water coming out of his fur was brown, and I am happy that he at least felt cleaner before he passed on. The poor guy was so sweet and loving, but being an outdoor cat meant that he was vulnerable to many diseases and such.

People who call this abuse don’t know what abuse means. Just because a cat is being forced to do something that it doesn’t *want* does NOT make it abuse. This would’ve only been abuse if he was pressing the cat onto the bathtub walls or literally drowning the cat and if it was abuse, I highly doubt that he’d be calling his cat “baby” and instead he’d be calling his cat “you piece of shit” or something similar.

Some cats do not adequately clean themselves. It is perfectly fine to give a cat a bath with shampoo for cats. For those saying that you are putting the cat under too much stress are misinformed. Most of this "crying" is just complaining. People who don't give their animals baths when they NEED them are the same people who refuse to enforce their toddlers to use a toilet. If your kid can walk and talk, they most definitely can use the restroom. Tough love is something no one knows how to use anymore....

It's not animal abuse, but making sure the water levels are low enough in means to not stress the cat out honestly wouldn't kill. Seriously, it's not a broad concept to consider an animals feelings.

you guys need to stop with the “HES ABUSING THE CAT!!” comments, cats aren’t meant to love baths but Cheetah could’ve been really, really dirty, and the owner obviously wasn’t gonna let his cat roam the house with dirt in his fur. I know from personal experience.
My lovely girl (nugget) was really dirty from playing outside & I was responsible of keeping her clean. She had the same reactions, clinging onto the faucet and kicking, screaming. Some cats react differently to baths, some just are pretty vocal and overreactive & some are chill.
listen . animals don't know what's best for them. even if the cat doesn't like being bathed, in the end it gets cleaned and it'll not only smell better but also probably feel better, too.

Tips for bathing cats:
Leave the water running with them nearby so they can get familiar with the sound and wont be startled by it
Use a wet rag (not soaked) to gently rub the water on your cat, get them used to being wet and make them feel more comfortable. Kinda like their mom giving them a bath or soothing them by licking them, itll feel similar with warm water and a rag
After your cat is calmed down and is adjusting, gently wrap them in damp towel (not swaddle, more drape it over them) and grab the scruff of their neck (where their mom held them as kittens) as thats a pressure point that will prevent them from flailing too much and makes them feel at least a little calmer
Carefully lower them into the water and hopefully they wont flip tf out. They might meow or walk around a bit to express discomfort, but hopefully if all goes to plan, they end up trusting you and trusting the water and may even grow to like baths.
This will add a lot of time and energy spent on bath time but it really does build trust and a bond with your cat when you let them gage the situation and give them someone to trust.

Well, I own a cat as well, but we never let it outside, so we just let our cat bathe itself and not worry about it, so there has been a way to prevent it.
