To be able to watch this video is a gift. I never even considered The Dells of the 30s before. And the letter boards spliced in to label the scenes add to the charm.

Wow, what a find. I appreciate this. That was the good old days when the Wisconsin Dells was visited for it's nature instead of all the waterparks.

My great grandfather during his lifetime worked on that river.

Grew up across the road from the stand rock indian ceremonial & participated in the show from youth until it closed. Great memories 👍🏽‼️

How wonderful! I was born and grew up near the Dells. Took those boat trips many times, even last summer. Very enjoyable. Thanks.

The film was probably shot in the 1920's, as the name of the town ("Kilbourn") was changed to "Wisconsin Dells" in 1931.

Sad. Everyone in this video has passed away by now.

Steve, was this a family member's work? I used to work on the boat tours and am fascinated by this. I see it says continued from reel 1. Do you have that too?

Corinne M ....not a family member's work. My uncle was cleaning out a house somewhere around Baraboo and found this one reel. I took it to a video processor company and had it transferred to a digital format. No sign of the first reel, unfortunately.

Steve Zunker thanks for the info. I shared it online with some dells folks and people are so thankful for this. It seems like it could have been some type of promotional material or perhaps someone that just took great pride in his home movies. Do you have any others from the area?

Also have you contacted anyone in the Dells? I am sure the stewards of the dells or the hh bennet museum would love a copy of this.
