Outside shot given the area, but we've been doing controlled burns in our small fields in the Ozarks and are starting to restore glades, hoping that it will help at least turkey, and just maybe get a covey or two on our property.
I think that, although habitat is key, Missouri expanding trapping season might help a little.

I gotta say, 35yr missouri resident, spent first 8years of my life in IA, which has some great upland bird, waterfowl, and deer hunting. I was introduced to waterfowl hunting very early (6yrs old) and have been hooked my whole life, never tried upland birds til about 2020 in ND/SD, got hooked on that as well, just went to KS last year for a 3 day hunt, it was fun, but a 4hr drive from KC and the NR tags has me really wanting to see quail and pheasant numbers back up in MO, I have actively trying to find places to hunt upland birds in NW and Northern MO, so would love to see this project take off!!

I've seen there are a few "quail restoration landscapes" in northern MO. Im from PA but we own a parcel near Kirksville for whitetails that has a handful of bobs on it. Really trying to diversify our habitat to benefit them as well.

Too many raptors and predators for quail grouse and prairie chickens. Missouri needs a hawk season

I've always wanted to hunt Bobwhites, sucks that the #'s are dropping. California has been seeing a large drop in pheasant #'s mainly due to farming practices from what I gather. Happy there are plenty of valley quail for me to chase.

They might never be as good as they were, but the quail is not gone for good, not yet at least in Missouri. Heck, even the prairie chicken is lingering in small numbers.

I recommend everyone hwo upland hunts look in to clubs like quail forever and pheasant forever for conservation efforts.
