Hello from Charlotte NC.. ..You mentioned LuLaRoe. I was actually in a Goodwill Store near the NC/SC state line just a couple of days ago. Omg Hannah - quick LuLaRoe story. A friend of mine gave me some bags of clothes that her rich sister was going to drop off at Goodwill, to see if any of it would be usable as inventory for me on Poshmark. I actually got a really nice North Face jacket out of it that sold within an hour of listing. But I also got A LOT of LuLaRoe Tall & Curvy Leggings, shirts & a cardigan. Then I happened to watch LuLaRich, so instead I listed them all as a bundle for dirt cheap. When I tell you they sold FAST. 😐 At least I got them for free, so what I made was all profit. But the amount of LuLaRoe I see at thrift stores is shocking. People are just giving it away now.

I'm just like the girl who immediately saw that MLMs we're pyramid schemes. A friend of mine was in Mary Kay and she got me to sign up. I did it after attending one of her parties and since it was my first time ever putting on makeup, and I liked it (probably because I never wore makeup before lol), I decided to sign up to get the kit and the 50% off all products. Of course they told me that this was fine, but then her upline kept showing up on campus to meet with me about why I wasn't having a party. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I was an 18 year old in college. I literally kept telling her, "because I don't want to that's not why I signed up, and I told you that." But I kept getting pressure to come to their meetings, have parties, see if friends were interested etc. And then I was like, oh my god this is a pyramid scheme. And I've been mad that other people don't see this so clearly. The anti MLM movement has been my validation for years and years of frustration 🤣.
I was in Mary Kay for a minute. They call people like you PUs (personal users) and they literally say it like pew/peugh, you stink. So rude. PUs don’t make their upline any money and don’t recruit so they don’t like them.
My little Newton loves Zeke and completely agrees with the passionate speech that Kitty King shares with you and us!! Newton will start his song at bedtime. He goes into each room to tuck us all in, give his opinion of the day, then picks his human of the night to sleep on our necks. Mine waits until my husband walks out the door for work at 7am and the obnoxiously demands to be fed until I get up and lock him in the bathroom for another hour or two so I can get a decent sleep 🥲
Thank you for explaining undue influence. I once had someone show up at my door basically doing door to door sales for a water heater. He would not leave no matter what I said. Another one of the salesmen showed up at my door and helped him push this on me. I ended up crying and just saying yes because I didn't know what else to do. I felt so stupid. Now I understand more 😪
Isn’t it convenient that no matter who you speak to in an MLM they have a friend or a relative that can relate to your exact situation, no matter how specific and unlikely it is? 🤔
As someone who was addicted to anti-MLM content last year, I was surprised that I didn't come across your channel until now. And as a cat dad of 2, I'll admit that Zeke sealed the deal to me subscribing just now, lol Also, I really appreciate sharing the story of the lady who was essentially bullied into buying products just to leave her alone. As I'm someone who tends to have issues being assertive myself, I found that it helped to play through my head what I'd say while watching these videos in case I come across such situations. I'm currently thinking of a polite and assertive "thank you so much, but this isn't for me," and if they keep pushing, I'm currently thinking through a more compassionate, "thank you so much again, and I totally understand how it feels to be in your current position of [excitement; being forced into desperation]. I've felt trapped in such a situation before, and I hope you won't have feel that way as well. I hope you understand my unwillingness and can respect that."
You are the sweetest face of the anti mlm movement! I love your calm and considerate commentary and information sharing. I already know how bad mlms are so I just come back for the horror stories and your awesome content! Would love to see a collab with you Savannah Marie and mack attack! And Chelsea ✌
One thing that struck me about Story #2 was the emphasis the reps placed on earning money/becoming a millionaire over all else. Obviously I completely understand wanting to make a ton of money, especially if you are currently not making enough to live comfortably! I’m attempting a career change myself in the hopes of being able to make 6 figures and often daydream about all the things I could buy with that salary. But telling someone their architect career is worthless is so beyond the pale. Money is not THE deciding factor in a career, there’s also work-life balance to consider, as well as the job responsibilities. Not everyone wants to be hustling 24/7 and a lot of people need to be in a career that is rewarding and fulfilling in addition to being paid well. Just a gross mindset to have in my opinion, don’t put down others for not being in your MLM.
Yes!! I'm a nurse- the kind of job you don't do for the money because what's required of you isn't worth the pay unless you absolutely love doing this job.
I love hearing Zeke in the background. Several years ago we had a cat we had to rehome and she “talked” just like Zeke. Hearing him reminds me of our girl & it warms my heart every time. 😻
What gets me is primerica claims they aren’t an MLM when I called them out on it. I was on a call and hadn’t heard of the company but within the first few minutes of their pitch it screamed MLM ! I said no thanks.
I know a girl in hs that started in her senior year I checked her insta recently and it said “no offering ur shitty mlm” I was so happy she got out lol
When my mom was looking for a job she applied to a company thru indeed. It was mancan. She would of had to pay for training, and had to go to meetings in Vegas several times a year. Im so happy I looked into it and found it was a finance/accounting MLM. Its disgusting that they were posting in job sites like a legitimate job.
I find LuLaRoe stuff at Goodwill all the time. One time I found a whole stock. You know some poor distributor finally gave up and donated all her stock.
We love the Zeke appearances! Don’t feel bad for his meowing and desire for attention. I like how you gave him what he wanted and then he regretted his decisions immediately
They all say they aren’t an MLM anymore. I have a friend deep in Amway and she claims they aren’t an MLM because she doesn’t make any money off her downlines’ sales, but instead receives a “mentoring bonus.” *Insert Jim Halpert meme of the two pictures but it’s the same thing*
Years ago, my ex was approach by a man in the parking lot of a major store. It's been so long that I forget the details, but the Amway story reminded me. I thought it was super weird but didn't know what it was. I remember trying to order toilet paper for a discount and my order had to go through this guy. I was done right then and thre.
My kids are well prepared with you in the background. They'd even spotted one & stopped their friends from joining one. I have a story being recruited in an sa support group. Please help me be those people voice because they have none.
I just realised, I may have avoided an MLM when I wa sunemplyed for the first time! I got a call of someone who told me I could make money sellign insurances, to my family and friends, and I could start after an orientation meeting. Luckily for me, I was REALLY weirded out by the fact that they wanted to train me in just one evening! Who knows what I might have run into otherwise!
Hannah… I just unfollowed anti MLM hosts I have been following before I found you! Why?! Because you are the BEST! I especially love your honest, down to earth, factual commentaries immensely! But what I love and respect about you the most is you never drop the F-bomb or any foul language ever! So dignified you are! So many anti MLM, as well as every host on any subject for that matter, seem to think that word is going out of style and use it in every single sentence. Now trust me, I’m no prude as the mother of 7 children, but come on… do they truly think that’s entertaining?! Do they think they sound “tough”?! Personally, I think you are the most intelligent, well informed, well spoken, & beautiful soul on you tube!! Kudos to you Hannah! Keep on keeping on!! Love watching your content!! I'm based in Australia and my mum definitely sold LR when I was younger. I remember being surprised as they had Heidi Klum and Michael Schumacher in their catalogues. My mum seemingly was the perfect victim as I remember her doing Avon, LR and Amway at some point in time. Quite surprising as she is usually very investment and money savvy and has worked full-time for as long as I remember. Even then I remember thinking the aforementioned all kinda felt pyramid scheme-y.
I just wrote a story about LR here in Denmark and I also remember them having perfumes with Heidi Klum and Schumacher and a lot of famous people's names. For what I can see they do not have that anymore and now it's called LR health & beauty. I can not remember if that was the name that long ago but it's definitely the same company
Love your content... I have a friend who's hypnotized in a MLM scheme at the moment and this helps me to see things clearer... I love cats BTW... so cute
Trick when you’re asked to give numbers of friends - use pizza shops and adult bookstores. (As long as your host is in on it!) I was in an MLM called “Your Inspiration at Home” which sold spices, vinegars and oils. It shut down when the top rep in Australia took off with all the money. Workers showed up at the factory, to find it was shut down and the doors were locked. Staff left without jobs, consultants and customers left with unfulfilled orders and no refunds. I was lucky, didn’t have any orders outstanding. A few months later I went through my inventory and realised I’d paid way more money on inventory than I ever made on sales. Took a couple more years to realise that MLMs are unethical.
The closest I got to any mlm was Avon or Mary Kay, some sort of training class. I don't remember, my friend brought me because she thought she was going to join, but the meeting felt extraordinarily culty and we both felt very uncomfortable.
my cat is a social cat and loves being around other cats. the poor baby is confused whenever he hears your cat screaming and goes around the apartment looking for him. he’s been sitting by the door waiting for me to let the stray cats in because he thinks your cat is one of the strays outside.
Omg this is giving me so many flashbacks! Mary Kay is like this story! They sit you down and make you write out how many people are in your contact list and who'd be great at the business.
I know this is an older video, but I have just begun binge watching your videos. I have been using LipSense for about 6 years now and I love it. I have been buying it from the same person for this entire time and have never been approached to sell it. I never knew it was an MLM. I really don't know if I can give it up, nothing else stays on my lips.
Hello! New to your channel (whoop whoop). Great videos :) I’m a bit disappointed to hear so many people say ‘we were too nice/ didn’t want to be rude/ were polite’ when someone is badgering them for an hour… you are the only person who can put a stop to the interaction, though. Telling someone directly or being assertive doesn’t make you a bad person lol you have to advocate for yourself, which can be done respectfully and firmly. I implore all the ladies who are writing in to find their inner advocate! Stick up for yourself and give up trying to be ‘nice’ if it’s not how you really feel! Its self love to say no, especially if they’re harassing/ disrespecting you. You’re not powerless 💜
So glad you covered this company, my experience with them was back in 2008-10? I’m that time frame and they did not tell you it was auto ship and I only found out when they began taking $75-$100 a month outta my account.
Hello Hannah! The second story about LR is mine, thanks for sharing! I wanted to clarify that LR stands for LR Health & Beauty Systems. It's a German company. Except from aloe vera mania they are also crazy about their cars (they give away BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc. mainly German cars). I think they claim they have the best car gifting system in the world of MLM. I think they give cars even to the very low ranks. TBH I find this even more manipulative because they are connected to the company via car contract even before they have made any money and this makes them stay even longer. Unfortunately, all of their info about the car system is in German. I can translate them and send them to you if you're interested in digging deeper into this company. Let me know if you're interested in more information about this. Sending love! :)
One thing I've always told my kids is that your opportunities will be things you seek out. When you want to spend your time and your money, you will go looking for it. It will never come looking for you. Anything that chases you down, and offers you the "opportunity" to spend your time or your money is a trap. That's why advertising has zero effect on me and mine. When we are ready to buy something, we chase it down. We NEVER take the click bait. My kids have never bothered with any MLM or such "opportunities".
The MLM I was involved with was Kleeneze based in the UK, selling cleaning products. This was back in 2001. I was forced to work along my mum going from door to door in the freezing cold evenings placing catalogues which aren’t free. I warned my mum that this isn’t a viable business. She believed she could earn a good living as a side hustle. In the end she spent so much money on stock, catalogues and internet fees. She came to realise it was all a scam. People threw away the catalogues while only few placed orders. The reps lied about it. I saw through the lies they told to get us as their customers
I've been binging your videos for a few weeks now and always enjoy the sporadic interactions between you and Zeke and Cooper ❤ Zeke's persistence in this particular video is so similar to one of my cats, Penny. She hates closed doors because I'm sure she's convinced that the room on the other side has turned into Narnia but no sweetie, sorry, it's still just the bathroom lol
@@FragJamsey thank Amway. They pretty obviously bribed politicians back in the 80s(?) to make a loophole they could hop right into. The founding family is related to Betsy deVos, the former Secretary of Education.
Local(ish) credit unions often have life insurance that you can get if you become a credit union member. Banking through credit unions can be great bc they are smaller and often give more back to the community. Also fines/fees are different from the “big banks”.
Okay I’ve been binging your videos for like 3 days and they’re fantastic, but can we talk about the more important thing in this exact moment: your hair looks AMAZING.
I wonder if a list could be curated of all the MLM's. And list them in order from the worst/most predatory to least bad/least predatory. And start by trying to advocate getting the worst ones dealt with first
Omg I love Zeke screaming in the back. That’s my Leo. He does the same thing but then you smother him with love and he wants to leave. As soon as I shut the door he wants back in haha. Please never cut those moments out!
I fell for it and it ruined my lips. It took me so long for them to get over the products. This was my last straw as an mlm rep then I found your content.
I am baffled by this practice of listing numbers. I was taught, and it might be a cultural thing, that I cannot give out numbers without their consent...easy peasy. A phone number is a personal thing and I am not giving out easily what is personal to the people I care without them knowing. In special situations I can take the number of the person who wants my friend's number and i will text my friend with the number and explaining who this number belongs to and why they want friend's number so that friend can decide whether they want to contact this person.
Responding to story 4, i was in a similar situation where I was asked to give 10 numbers after getting a tour of a gym that I was looking to join. I was taken aback by this request that I just gave them 10 fake names and phone numbers and left.
I use to buy from people selling Mary Kay and Avon. We didn’t know what pyramid schemes were back then in the 80s and 90s. There were just a bunch of ladies at church selling it all the time. My mom was in Avon. I vaguely remember her complaining about being pressured to sell more when she just wanted to get a discount on products. I had a co-worker sell me $100+ of Mary Kay, and I remember there was some other lady there at her makeup party trying to get us to sell it too. I also once bought Shakeology after seeing it advertised on a workout video. I thought it was weird that I had to talk to a person selling it instead of just buying it on a website. I remember them pressuring me to sell it myself, and I didn’t understand why they even asked me to. I just thought it was weird. They gave me this whole pitch on selling for Beach Body I think, and I was all “I just wanted to buy a workout shake, when do I pay so I can get on with my life”. I had no clue. My sister-in-law was into Herbalife. She said she bought her car from sales. I have about $100 worth of Norwex. I like my cleaning stuff though and she never bugged me to sell it myself. It is horrible that we are surrounded by all these MLMs. I wish they were illegal.
Story 3 reminds me of The Body Shop at Home! I loved The Body Shop brick and mortar stores. I thought a “direct sales” was different than an MLM but nope same thing. Once I saw their compensation disclosure and started seeing TH-camrs talk about it I was so disappointed that I got duped.
It's not a Hannah video if there isn't a full speech from Zeke. I am glad this included a story from Europe. As a European, there's a lot of MLMs that aren't talked about much popping up around here. My local job search groups are full of huns pitching their business opportunities to people who don't know any better. Luckily, most people don't fall for these, as they're very overpriced, and, considering average salaries here, not affordable, but it's still an infestation. My jaw dropped when I saw a Lithuanian woman recently spam a Riga job search group (Latvia is Lithuania's neighbour) with, you guessed it, FUCKING MONAT. My Lithuanian is quite rusty, as I never formally studied it, but her text was the standard Monat nonsense pitch (and before anyone asks, yes, she posted her spam in Lithuanian, in a group where barely anyone speaks it. Make it make sense). They recently expanded to Spain and Lithuania, and I think it's very telling their huns have to invade random groups of neighbour countries to shill their shit. If that doesn't prove that nobody besides these huns are buying this product, I don't know what will.
Hi :) Yup, Monat openeded in Lithuania and one person I know has joined it. The posts encouraging to join as a VIP client or Market Partner are full of cringe. I saw even a pilot shilling Monat :D So it's not even that surprising that they spam Latvians. :(
I pulled up the MLM master list in an FB group I’m in and there’s quite a few that have LR as initials - LR Health and Beauty (beauty and health products based in Germany), Le Reve (perfume/aromatherapy/skincare), and Lilla Rose (hair accessories) I think people usually say LLR for LuLaRoe.
Cracks me up how talkative Zeke is! I had one that was very vocal but the 2 I have now are nearly silent! Poor Zeke just wants you to leave the door open so he can go inside or outside or inside or outside or inside or...
Mary Kay was very much like that first story. According to my old upline you had to purchase a inventory bundle of $600 to even sell on the site?? I told her as a stay at home mom with 2 kids I couldn’t afford it. So she told me to apply for the Mary Kay credit card. And when I told her I couldn’t qualify for that to look at credit karma. Which unless I had money to put down that wasn’t an option either so she would ask me on a SEMI DAILY basis to ask a family member to either give me the money or open a credit line for me and I would be able to pay them back easily. And if my family wouldn’t do that for me we’re they my family anyways. As long as I’m on my horror story this woman pushed god on me and said I couldn’t have a successful business without him. (I’m an atheist) These MLMs are wild to say the least.

Mine’s name is Pippin and he is also probably maybe 100% possessed by something, I think he chases ghosts around the house 😅
Sings the song of his people 😂😂 that’s so cute
@Betty Turcan best cat names ever. Can we be friends? I love cats and sometimes I bake!
Now I understand more 😪
Force cuddling my cats when they are being annoying is the best strategy!
And as a cat dad of 2, I'll admit that Zeke sealed the deal to me subscribing just now, lol
Also, I really appreciate sharing the story of the lady who was essentially bullied into buying products just to leave her alone.
I didn’t start making anti-MLM content until August 2021 so that might be why! Happy we’re both here now! ☺️
@@HannahAlonzo Haha, now that makes sense. Glad to be here and will probably binge the rest of your MLM horror stories the next time I get free time!
Zeke has some strong feelings about MLMs. I'm glad you include his insight in your videos
You are the sweetest face of the anti mlm movement! I love your calm and considerate commentary and information sharing. I already know how bad mlms are so I just come back for the horror stories and your awesome content! Would love to see a collab with you Savannah Marie and mack attack! And Chelsea ✌
I was actually recruited in a mostly male MLM for AT&T internet. It was a door to door sale thing and now they sale TVs which is wierd.
You don’t have a laugh track, you have a Zeke track at this point 😂❤️
How annoying to force people to buy stuff and scam them to be salesman
What gets me is primerica claims they aren’t an MLM when I called them out on it. I was on a call and hadn’t heard of the company but within the first few minutes of their pitch it screamed MLM ! I said no thanks.
I know a girl in hs that started in her senior year I checked her insta recently and it said “no offering ur shitty mlm” I was so happy she got out lol
You should sell merch that says "You Can Probably See Where This Is Going..." 😆
And then an arrow pointing to a triangle.
I think Zeke is saying, "you tell them mom! Tell them how bad those MLMs are!" 😂
And then he saying, "I need attention! Isn't everything about me?"
The guilt trip of some MLMs is straight out of the cult playbook, BITE model.
We love the Zeke appearances! Don’t feel bad for his meowing and desire for attention. I like how you gave him what he wanted and then he regretted his decisions immediately
They all say they aren’t an MLM anymore. I have a friend deep in Amway and she claims they aren’t an MLM because she doesn’t make any money off her downlines’ sales, but instead receives a “mentoring bonus.”
*Insert Jim Halpert meme of the two pictures but it’s the same thing*
Gut feelings tend to work!
Subscriber forever here!🙋🏻♀️
When zeke started yelling I always instinctively yell “whuUuUut” to my cats. 😂
I love cats BTW... so cute
these videos are making me realize just how many school fundraisers work on the ethics of a pyramid scheme.
Trick when you’re asked to give numbers of friends - use pizza shops and adult bookstores. (As long as your host is in on it!)
I was in an MLM called “Your Inspiration at Home” which sold spices, vinegars and oils.
I’m cracking up at your cat sounding like an entire human child in the background 🤣 so cute!!
The fact that I saw a primerica sign 7 minutes from where I live in my way home from work… my heart sunk..
My advocare up line triggered an eating disorder by trying to profit off of my insecurities…now that’s a story to tell
Great videos :)
I’m a bit disappointed to hear so many people say ‘we were too nice/ didn’t want to be rude/ were polite’ when someone is badgering them for an hour… you are the only person who can put a stop to the interaction, though.
I've been binging these. I was telling my husband about one of the stories. His response was I'm so glad you're smart enough to not fall for those.
So glad you covered this company, my experience with them was back in 2008-10? I’m that time frame and they did not tell you it was auto ship and I only found out when they began taking $75-$100 a month outta my account.
WOW!! My Chiropractor called me and texted me!! Dang pyramid schemes!! HOW DARE THEY!!
My sister got in to LR here in Denmark, luckily for what I remember she wasn't in it that long time and didn't recruit anyone
I really like your content and thoughts about this. Been binge-watching these. I hope you keep making these.
You inspired me to do my hair like yours, and I got a compliment on it today! ❤️
Zeke demands the abolishing of tyrannical closed doors
LuLaRoe now has a SECOND documentary condemning them on Hulu
It's not on Hulu. It's on Discovery+
Going through and catching up on the horror stories. I think I'm caught up now. These are my favorite.
I've been binging your videos for a few weeks now and always enjoy the sporadic interactions between you and Zeke and Cooper ❤
Zeke's persistence in this particular video is so similar to one of my cats, Penny. She hates closed doors because I'm sure she's convinced that the room on the other side has turned into Narnia but no sweetie, sorry, it's still just the bathroom lol
I’m not understanding how MLM are allowed to exist 😂
The Direct Marketing Association spends a ton of money on politicians.
EVERYTIME I watch an anti-mlm video and hear these stories I think the same thing. These should be illegal!
@@FragJamsey thank Amway. They pretty obviously bribed politicians back in the 80s(?) to make a loophole they could hop right into. The founding family is related to Betsy deVos, the former Secretary of Education.
@@haven311 wow! I had no idea! Go figure, right!
Came for the anti-mlm content.
Stayed for the cat interruptions.
(Although the content is great too I just love cats 😅)
Tell me you've watched Hannah forever without telling me you've watched Hannah forever ... .
..instantly recognising Zekes hellos.. 💕
Haha he’s really making himself known in my videos recently 😂
I wonder if a list could be curated of all the MLM's. And list them in order from the worst/most predatory to least bad/least predatory. And start by trying to advocate getting the worst ones dealt with first
Thanks for giving us something to watch while you're out living your best life at Disney!!! 💖
I just realized I watch your anti MLM videos and I used to watch your Poshmark videos! I had no idea until today that you made both!
Oh I have seen L+R ads in Germany!
They try to lure you in multiple platforms when you're searching for home office jobs.
Hi Hannah! Hope you've had a better day, today :)
I am, thank you!! At Disney today 🥰
Zeeke! He just wants to say hello to all of his fans! We love you, Zeeke!
I did not know Tupperware is a MLM company. Thank goodness for this videos
Omg I love Zeke screaming in the back. That’s my Leo. He does the same thing but then you smother him with love and he wants to leave. As soon as I shut the door he wants back in haha. Please never cut those moments out!
I think that we need to have a panel with Zeke and PopTart. 😁

As a tall woman, most clothing makers forget we need clothing too.
Why is church always involved? MLMs are literally merchants in the temple.
Loved seeing and hearing Zeke in this video. My cat started looking around trying to find the "intruder".
Oh my gosh Zeke trilling for attention in the background is adorable.
Church is a HUGE way that MLMs suck people in. The trust is the first hook.
I love the kitty merping in the background.
Oh GOD. My mother was also in LR, it's a horrible company and pretty big in Europa/Germany.
In Spain I ve seen a lot of Herbalife mainly
I pulled up the MLM master list in an FB group I’m in and there’s quite a few that have LR as initials - LR Health and Beauty (beauty and health products based in Germany), Le Reve (perfume/aromatherapy/skincare), and Lilla Rose (hair accessories)
I think people usually say LLR for LuLaRoe.
(I’m an atheist)
These MLMs are wild to say the least.
