How To fit a Penn Fathom Casting Special custom mag control

🎣🎣 heres a quick video for anyone interested on how to change the mag control on the penn fathom casting specials. For some the size and location of the mag control was one of the biggest downfalls with the reel but a small modification like this can make the world of difference and make the reel far more comfortable to use. @@jimmyredfern413 hi mate the way the mag system works it only goes back one way. Anticlockwise is ‘mag off’ clockwise ‘mag on ‘ 👍👍

Nice Video. I did this to four reels a year ago. Why didn't you take O-Ring off of the old knob, and put it on the new one?

I just got my new reel and rod in. The part I received looks exactly like yours. I noticed when you removed the old knob it had a brass or metal thing, whereas the new one is plastic....??? Is that part of the clicker?

Hi mate. That little cog on there is so it make a ‘click’ when you change the mag settings. Mine was like a brass material 👍👍

On both, it was a brass material? I noticed in the video that the one that was removed appears to have a gold color. The new one you placed appears just black. I had to check my part, but I'm in bed. Lol. Thank you, though. Much better video than the 22 mins version. Cheers

I’ve done this on all my fathom cs…however do you know if there is a counterweight handle made for them? Handle flips around when casting…

Thanks mate 👍 i tend to keep all the magnets in and come off 4 clicks on the knob. I also have a little movement in the spool float but i tend to run my fishing reels safe purely so that im not re spooling them all the time. Hope this is what you mean if not let me know and il get a video together 👍

@@w33ksy only a little movement i use on my fishing reels and a little more on my casting reels. I used to run my fishing reels fast but almost guarantee i would birdie at least 1 reel up after a session and i found it it tedious re spooling reels so i slowed them down still hitting a good distance with them and virtually never re spool them now
