I wish Zero Gravity had the same mechanics as the first game, or at the very least kept the boost. Making the boost an item was very stupid. But the game had Blaze and Silver so I'm grateful for that.

I love the first Riders and Zero Gravity equally. They're both really fun racers and I love how characters like Nights and Ulala from other Sega franchises appear in those games. I hope Sonic Team makes another Riders game in the future.
This was one of the first games I wanted to buy after I got my PS2 (yes, I was an Xbox kid for the longest time and got the Sony masterpiece well after its prime) so it's always had a special place in my heart. I think a way to make egg man more threatening is to make him have characteristics similar to Kingpin. He’d be like Kingpin, but with the added smarts of his genius intellect complimenting it.

A lot of people believe that the Sonic Riders games take place in the somewhat distant future, where Eggman is less like a villain and is trying to be a business owner. That would explain why tails can drive, and why everything is more advance than the other games. Also you never see the Babylon Rogues in any other games, so maybe this is the future. Or am I just over thinking this?
You're overthinking it. There are plenty of vary advanced things in the Sonic world besides the stuff in Riders. Like Grand Metropolis or the Ark. Eggman secretly owning businesses actually makes the games make more sense since it explains where he gets the money for his armies, and Tails can fly plane.
