At age 10 I had a teacher who set a weekly afternoon debate with us based on a fictional but totally plausible scenario, each one different from the last. The class were separated out around different tables and we played different agencies, departments, countries or whatever the scenario called for, it was really good. A class like that could certainly run things better than this lot, no doubt about it.

At the start of the video BBB uses the words "summon" which he is using as a hypothetical question where he goes on to discuss whether the British Government has the power to summon a foreign national. He then talks at length about the concept of jurisdiction. Summoning someone is a legal process. He's discussing a hypothetical situation. But later he reads out the content of the actual letter sent out by the DCMS to Musk and the actual letter is NOT a legal summons, it's simply a polite invitation which he is able to decline. You don't have the right to decline a summons. That's the point. It's effectively a court order requiring you to attend. And failure to attend is contempt of court. And contempt of court carries a prison sentence. So before correcting someone, go and check you have actually listened to the video fully and carefully and understand what a summons is. There is a form used in civil courts called "a witness summons". You can even download a copy of it.

I believe the way forward would be for a certain number of MPs would have to call for a vote of no confidence, and then the king would be asked to dissolve Parliament. However, as most of the MPs are Labour - and the bunch of chicken lovers voted to rob pensioners of their winter fuel payments, under the threat of being kicked out of the Labour Party - that's unlikely to happen. I think what the farmers are doing now is possibly the only answer, except on a bigger scale.

At the start of the video BBB uses the words "summon" which he is using as a hypothetical question where he goes on to discuss whether the British Government has the power to summon a foreign national. He then talks at length about the concept of jurisdiction.
Summoning someone is a legal process.
He's discussing a hypothetical situation.
But later he reads out the content of the actual letter sent out by the DCMS to Musk and the actual letter is NOT a legal summons, it's simply a polite invitation which he is able to decline.
You don't have the right to decline a summons. That's the point. It's effectively a court order requiring you to attend. And failure to attend is contempt of court. And contempt of court carries a prison sentence.
So before correcting someone, go and check you have actually listened to the video fully and carefully and understand what a summons is.
There is a form used in civil courts called "a witness summons".
You can even download a copy of it.

I believe the way forward would be for a certain number of MPs would have to call for a vote of no confidence, and then the king would be asked to dissolve Parliament.
However, as most of the MPs are Labour - and the bunch of chicken lovers voted to rob pensioners of their winter fuel payments, under the threat of being kicked out of the Labour Party - that's unlikely to happen.
I think what the farmers are doing now is possibly the only answer, except on a bigger scale.
