  • My review of the 2020 Canyon Grail AL 7.0 gravel bike. It was supposed to come with me on the Ride Flanders sportive a day before the Tour of Flanders in April, which was supposed to form the basis for a magazine review. The sportive and the race didn't happen and thanks to the coronavirus lockdown the magazine in question folded. So instead, here's a quick, non-technical review on TH-cam - hope it's useful.

    The most useful bike review i've seen to date. I am gonna order this bike, and wait until Feb next year until it arrives!

    You have installed 32c Tire. If I want, can i install 28c tire or 25c tire on those stock DT Swiss Spline DB rims?

    • @thetankrides9710
      @thetankrides9710  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have thought 28mm was fine. 25mm probably too but not sure why you would want to!

      @@thetankrides9710 , I want a bike that would not be harmed by gravel road but has slick tire to get speed in on-road. Can you tell me one thing, Can "Endurace AL Disc 7.0" take me to broken, uneven road?

    • @Nibes000
      @Nibes000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@md.arifulamin8537 I ride a old aluminium road bike with 700x23c tires on gravel. It rides. is it comfortable? not really. you get all vibrations, any sand will make you skid around corners, any bigger rock might mean a flat. I've tested with 700x28c tires and it goes smoothly, like night and day difference. So answering your question, yes the Endurace will take you through broken, uneven road, you just need to go a little bit slower and with care.

    Did they change the seat on their setup? Mine came with a seat that was open in the middle. I just got mine yesterday and ive barely tested it out but i like it so far.

    How is the sizing? Canyon has me fitted for a Large while other brands have me at an XL. If I raise my height by one inch, then Canyon says I should get an XL. Having a hard time deciding, so I'm wondering how the fit was for you? I'm about 6'2" btw. Thank you!

    • @LeeJonesNPT
      @LeeJonesNPT 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am 6.2” and I have a Canyon Endurace and Roadlite in a L and it’s perfect size, I think they are just a bigger frame than many other manufacturers.

    • @BluGiant14
      @BluGiant14 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m 6’7” and every resource I find (other than just getting a custom make) claims that Canyons run larger and their site claims a XXL would fit me. Still…got a Grail sitting in my cart for weeks

    What size did you get the bike in? I am about 6'0/180cm tall, and the Canyon website puts me at a Medium for the grail. But I've read about many people opting to size up to a Large who had also been put at Medium.

    • @thetankrides9710
      @thetankrides9710  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very much a matter of choice. I was on a size L which was a great fit but I am a bit taller than you at 188cm. I'd check all your measurements again and if Canyon still says M then go with it. Always think it is better to have a frame slightly too small than too big. Easier to make adjustments in the former case.

    • @thorestey
      @thorestey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was deliberating the exact same issue two weeks ago. I'm also at exactly 6'0/183cm. But since Canyon has exorbitantly long delivery times at the moment, I looked around for other options, including the Stevens Vapor Force. The Stevens Calculator puts me right between a 56 and 58cm frame. Looking at the reach of the frames it is quite obvious, that the Canyon is *significantly* longer, thus your position will most likely be more race-oriented.
      My local Stevens dealer had a 58cm frame on hand so I tried it, but it was just too long. I ordered the 56cm version and it fits like a glove (and is btw the lightest Aluminum Gravel bike I could find at 8.7kgs).
      So the conclusion would be: go for the smaller size. Adjustments are easier and you have a little bit more comfortable seating position.

    i originally ordered this bike and was going to wait 5 months to receive It. I was browsing the canyon website two days ago and saw they had a green one in my size that said delivery was 9nov-13nov. I called customer service, canceled my order of the silver color and replaced It with the green color and two days later the bike was at my door. unbelievable but continue to check the website. I guess people cancel orders and stocks change!

    This review is probably as good as I could hope for: exact color I wanted, solves the mystery of wondering how much the weight and ride quality if fitted with 32mm GP5000TL and best of all, few gentlemen here discussed the right frame size of my exact height of 183cm. Wow!

    This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
