afte reevaluating i think fred would be passively but still very clearly homophobic toward shaggy but it would be because he’s insecure in his own sexuality, but that’s the Freddy that was created in the 70’s. I think a more current Freddy would be a really good ally and support the gang in an older brother/father way that he never received from his own father (and he might possibily identify as bi-curious or a demiboy)
Depending on which version of Scooby Doo you're talking about, Fred and Shaggy being friends makes sense. Fred likes solving mysteries and traps, and can drive. In a lot of versions, the mystery machine is originally Shaggy's van. Shaggy likes food, and traveling to find new food, but is usually too turnt to drive. Shaggy needs a driver, Fred needs something to drive. Fred needs someone to be bait for his traps, and Shaggy is willing to do morally questionable things for food. It's a symbiotic relationship.

I'm 27, and didn't come out until 24 but I've known for as long as I remember that I wasn't cis.

I've been pretty sure I'm genderfluid for the past month or so, just cause I tried a bunch of labels and that was what just felt... right, but they explained it SO well and now I'm really sure I'm genderfluid! I originally thought I was because I felt a disconnect from the idea of "female" (I'm AFAB) and the pronouns "she/her", and wanted to try out other pronouns/do research on what I could be. This was super helpful and really helped me figure it out! :)

He is correct, Velma and Daphne are two totally different people but it’s believable that they’d be friends. They’re different in a way that compliments each other. But Shaggy and Fred feel more like they’re friends with Daphne and Velma who just got brought along for the ride because they’re friends with Daphne and Velma. Outside of those two bringing them together, they probably wouldn’t hang out because their personalities are different in a way that just... doesn’t vibe. It’s not like they’d hate each other, they just wouldn’t hang out. They don’t travel in the same circles
I would argue that they are in fact gay but Fred thinks that Daphne and Velma would be weird about it if they told them so they haven't. In one of the shows Fred angrily says that only his "girlfriends" can call him Freddie to someone, and in the same series Shaggy calls him Freddie.
