Ok but true, because we go from sepia tones to color in the Wizard or Oz so we’re gonna have a brown and white Velcro dress over Dorothy’s main dress so she can just rip it off
The, “We’re theater kids, of course we break out into song randomly!” was so real to me. (I’ve never done a bit of theater) Omg, thanks for the likes! I’m in theatre now btw
There’s a kid in my class that’s like this and when he sings in class (I mean belting out broadway and Eurovision tunes) the next day he’s just like “ sry in on vocal rest so u won’t hear me singing today” and we are all like “THANK GOD!”
2:07 is too real! I was Storyteller and Teen Fiona in Shrek Jr and since I walked in a bit later for my line, I teamed up with an ensemble member to help with turning our Fiona green! We were PANICKED to say the least! We had some stage crew be prepared with the ogre ears and gloves, it was stressful and of course we got green on Fiona’s dress and our own costumes but hey, we made it in time always!

OK that is true but our school has done Shrek before and there is actually a LONG time from the end of the Duloc song to the start of the Fiona song. After the dancers exit Shrek and Donkey come in and do a whole conversation. And Teen Fiona isn’t on stage until a third of the way in the FIona song. So that is why they didn’t make a those costumes that could be changed in seconds.
fr!! And they were louder than Elsa… I could barely hear her compared to the harmonies!! They definitely needed to work on balancing or tell ensemble to tone it down.
@@0.-.0 no, the choreo could’ve just been a lot more interesting. Possibly some kind of lyrical/contemporary style dance with jumps on the cymbal crashes? It would create a much more dynamic scene than five people waving their arms around. Then you could place some ensemble in the background so they can do vocals
“We’re theater kids, of course we break into song randomly” that’s so relatable😭I was in Moana the musical and we broke into song like 6 times backstage
Once backstage for our middle school musical my friend was talking to me but the mic was on so Matilda was singing naughty and you could hear the wormwoods laughing and saying “hah no she is so good!”
2:39 we once went too a backstage tour at our local theater and they told us the story that during a performance of "Cat's" a dancer got sick and snuck of stage. But unfortunately he was so sneaky that nobody noticed, so the entire theatre got to hear him throwing up.
25:16 is so underrated, I feel like no one’s talking about it. Like- How?! Her vocal range is amazing 💜 I love her voice sm. Jane Doe is my fav character 🫶
I was in Shrek the musical at my school a few years back and for the fiona transition they used the other fiona (we were double casted) for the before part. The issue was there was about a 1'2" difference in height between the two so when the first cast would go, fiona would go from really tall to really short and vise versa for the other cast
on our second night of matilda jr, we were in the middle of when i grow up when ms honey and matilda sings. ig the kid who plays nigel didn’t know his mic was on, and he yelled “MICHAEL JACKSON” IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG EVERYONE WAS SO CONFUSED 😭😭💀
21:08 this is my best friend Anya every single time we finish a show. I remember once we did the show “Narnia, Voyage of the dawn treader” and she played reepicheep. After her big death scene she would come back stage and literally collapse onto us and be like “never stop acting never stop” while crying, KNOWING we had scenes coming up, which would make US cry because we are all depressed anxiety ridden teenagers and her crying makes us all cry because she is like the baby of every show we do.
The fast change with only 43 seconds is sooooo true when I did Charlie in Willy Wonka I had to do a fast change with 28 SECONDS I had to wear the pants the ENTIRE SHOW bc it would be easier to bring the overalls down then bring the pants up and let me tell u my legs were DYING
3:44 in the mic check you have these people: “Our god is an awesome god” “Abcdefg gummy bears are chasing me” “Sticking out your gyatt for the rizzler-“
So I noticed you guys call it hell week. At my theater we call it tech week which I think is it’s technical name. We might just call it that because we have some really young kids
4:28 I learned how to kiss from watching closely in Broadway shows. My hack when “kissing” is to go right below the lips, kinda on the chin and the other person goes right above ur lips, under the nose.
“Broadway Mic Technicians are so good at their job!” Can they work at local school theatrical projects cause half the time at my school yoh enter with a line and your mics not on till the next line to the point where they have to teach projection within our program and you have to wait till the transition to the next scene is over so your okay to talk backstage cause if not your mic might still be on
the one “how different actors leave the stage” i had a musical and i went terrible. The tv for something didn’t work, violet (willy wonka musical) couldn’t quick change, and mike Tv couldn’t get on stage because he wasn’t feeling well. Mike TV missed his main song and made it so his “mom” and the interview girl couldn’t have their sing too because they had solos in it. Those two girls went off the stage crying
One time when I was in theater, doing descendants versus zombies, and when nightfall started playing breaking into dance, especially in the part where mal says”AAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAA”
so random story. last January I was in a production of fiddler on the roof, and during the crucial wedding scene midway through the show I managed to keep the actress plying Hodel (a lovely sixteen year old girl named Hannah) from getting to her mark to help her boyfriend Perchick on around TEN SEPERATE OCCASIONS everywhere we both went we always met in the middle. two noteworthy occasions are the time that I turned around and accidentally slammed my elbow into her chest with a considerable ammount of force. and the other time I (not recognizing her) grabbed her by the shoulders swinging her behind me and placing myself directly in between her and the Russian soldier (a good friend of mine named Luke) who was about to punch her.
"how do they change so fast?"
"By literally ripping their clothes off"

The elsa bit was so painful, why was ensemble just *there* ? Like they could have done something creative with the bridge but noooooo

Yeah Ike was was a snowflake for my frozen so unescarry
Because they're focused on Elsa. It's like half a moment in the show but you're able to see it 100x times so it looks awkward to you. Jfc
