Great review John! I am believing more and more, buying an adjustable, either a dial-in or plate change is not better, and not worth the extra built-in engineering and manufacturing cost, than finding the right razor with one exposure and gap that is right for the individual.
@rayban-usa5482 I agree with you. Most adjustables never seem to have that perfect setting that a non adjustable often seems to hit. I’ve found adjustables I like but I find a non adjustable more often suits my needs.
Great comparison. Hopefully the neck recovers quick. You had a great lather with McDuff. It seems you mostly got weepers around the Adam's apple, so perhaps it's just an isolated mistake (wrong move).
@saguarosmart4100 yes I should have not gotten so close to that area after catching it the day before. That is my problem /caution area 😂 I’ll be ok. Maybe take a day off shaving or use a mild razor. Thanks for watching.
I've used my Sabre on 3, 2 and 1 plates. I find 2 the best for me, with 3 being a little on the aggressive side, but still pretty comfortable. I think I'll try 4 if I have a few day's growth, but I know that in my usual shaving routine it would likely be a little too much. It's a lovely razor though. I do enjoy using it (although today was my Brass Micromatic).
@lawrencewhitaker wow! Can’t believe you can use the 3 plate 😂I think I tried like 2 strokes with it and said NOPE 😂 Overall the featherweight or Treet is my favorite “Gem”
@@Stubblemeetssteel not only used the 3 plate, but used it for a head-shave too. It was a little scary. Plate 2 is, I think the most comfortable out of the options I've tried.
Might have to take out the stainless shield 🛡️ Gem back out lol. I have the shield 🛡️ half ac/ half de blade razor in titanium on the way, hoping it has a little more heft with the full head. For black Friday I bought a cerekote stainless steel razor from Oliworks, kinda fits the Gibbs / Rex ambassador category, hear they are revamping their adjustable razor. Seems like a new kid in the block, not many reviews out there.
@gotobecrazy lol I forgot how aggressive this shield Gem was 🫣 Mike @shield said the SE head is his most mild so I was unsure if I would like it or not. I would think you are right. Should be a heavier head to accommodate the larger AC blade on the other side. Oliworks had drama around them that’s why most wetshavers including myself don’t review their products.
@@Stubblemeetssteel I had no idea. The razor itself very similar to the Rex ambassador / envoy, but not as blade forward. I'm still trying to justify my purchase. If that's the case, I will stay away from that company.

Nice shave, little🩸but sometimes it happens. Both razors have a nice looking head.
@lawrence1md thanks Matthew. I haven’t gotten that cut up yet I don’t think 🤣🤣. Are you doing the advent calendar again this year?
@@Stubblemeetssteel yes I am. It will be here before you know it. I can’t wait to see what it holds
@lawrence1md I’ll love vicariously through your videos than.

@lawrencewhitaker interesting! 1 plate was definitely my speed for face shaving.
