I would NOT adopt an Alaskan Malamute, UNLESS, it needed to be rescued. I own three ( first born in 2011), and you have to consider that they need a lot of exercise, ( running, biking 2 or three times a week, ), AND a good PROPER brushing every two weeks. Additionally, their food intake has to be VERY strict. My 108lb boy gets 120mg (one cup) twicw a day. It depends on the typs of food that they are fed. All of that being said, I wouldn't have any other dog!. They are an absolutely beautiful, energetic and VERY PACK orientated breed. Best of luck.
