The apostle Paul assured the Thessalonians that they'd learned how to walk pleasing before the Lord. He told them, "Ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God" (1 Thessalonians 4:1). Paul then added this exhortation: "So ye would abound more and more" (4:1).
To abound means to increase. Paul was saying, "You've been sitting under sound gospel preaching. So now you have a solid foundation beneath you. Therefore, you ought to be increasing in grace in all ways -- in your faith, your knowledge, your love."
Paul also spoke of such abounding to the Corinthians: "As ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also" (2 Corinthians 8:7). He said, in other words, "God's Spirit has wrought major changes in your life. Therefore, you ought to be giving more of yourself in all ways -- in your time, your finances, your talents."
These passages make it clear: everyone who's been fed God's word is expected to grow in grace. God has endowed gifts to pastors, teachers, prophets and evangelists for this express purpose: to cause his church to grow. No believer is to remain a babe in Christ. We're expected to grow in him so that we're not carried away by any false thing.
Jesus himself speaks of a constant increase in our lives: "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Christ commended the church at Thyatira for having grown in grace: "I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first" (Revelation 2:19). Jesus was saying, in essence, "You're more intense now than when you started out. You've allowed my life in you to grow more abundant."
Proverbs echoes this: "The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Proverbs 4:18). And Job declares, "The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger" (Job 17:9).
We see there is no place for sloth, laziness or stunted growth in the body of Christ. So, how do you feel about your growth in the Lord? Do you see a constant increase of faith, hope, love, giving? If so, how can you measure your growth?

Pastor's sermons are timeless. I needed this. This past week I woke up every morning not feeling like praying or reading my Bible at all. I had to push myself. I was questioning my faith feeling so guilty. Add in the lies of the enemy condemning me. I felt overwhelmed. As soon as I heard this message, a weight lifted off of me. I thank God for Pastor's teachings. Still touching thousands.
Yes I have been up and down emotional since 2021. I am holy spirit filled Christian but have been bombarded with attack after attack from the enemy in my emotions. Let God's Word be true and Every man a liar! 🙏

@@davidpowell9629 to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. The dead do not go to heaven, the go to paradise. Paradise and hell are side-by-side. Jesus speaks of this during The story of Lazarus and the rich man.
@@CrazyDeeDee I believe that they are in heaven now. My understanding is that the Old Testament believers went to Paradise at that time. After the resurrection, they moved to heaven and now abide there. I could be wrong, of course.
@@429np that does sound plausible. Lazarus and the rich man took place before the first resurrection so it does show him going to Paradise. That doesn't necessarily mean we do. In fact maybe Jesus was showing us how it used to be because it wouldn't be that way anymore.
So yes, you're interpretation could be correct. it's something that I'll continue to look into and hope that I gained Revelation about. One thing I know for sure is that to be absent in the body is to be present in the spirit with the Lord. The Bible tells us so.

Please have Mercy on me a lonely 62 year old sick person who had a husband shock me with no warning and walked out one day on me and divorced me for a much younger, prettier person. I am so lonely. I love Christ so much and have been so blessed but I am wicked, lazy, depressed and not progressing. I am so sad that I am not living like and more for Christ. Will someone please pray for mercy that God will forgive me, help me be Holy and obedient. Pray please Christ will let me know and feel His love. Literally last night I was upset with myself, the biggest discouragement for me in my walk is how little I can focus while reading and how little I retain. And as usual the Lord knew what I needed. He knows this because he's a living God and is always with us, that's why he knows what we need and when we need it. He's with us in real time, and it's such a blessing that I'm becoming aware of that.

Brandon, if you are having trouble focusing ready. It's possible that you're unaware that the Holy Bible is God's story which if you look at history it's derived from His story. Our flesh can't abide in the presence of God because our flesh is weak. Instead of remembering how hard it is to read instead focus on what Jesus went through to purge us and wash all humanity of our sins and Go To God in prayer to help you be still before you to read God's word in the Bible. Start with Genesis 1:1. The great thing about the bible is you don't need to rush it you can keep reading the same verse over and over and over again until God has given you the wisdom of the meaning of the verse if there's a meaning that the spirit has put in the verse and verses before and after the verse you read. If you still are unable to focus keep praying that God helps you be still so you can seek his wisdom. God has more strength then we do. Go to Him always at the start of the day and at the end and during the hours in-between go to Him by reading His word by having the bible app on your phone and remember what verse you ended on. With God all things are possible Matthew 19:26

It’s 2023 and this sermon is so rich in the Spirit of Christ and I have received an enlightenment that has answered my own need for my Christian walk. PTL Thank you God for using Pastor Wilkerson all those many years ago and still your spirit is felt through his word today🙏🏻
I read the cross and the switch blade in the 70’s and loved it. Unfortunately, as a teen with no real guidance, I strayed and listened to the lies of the enemy. I thank the good Lord that he didn’t let me die a sinner and im back to listening to one of my favorite preachers. 🙏🙏
This Holy annointed man was set apart to be the greatest end times Pastor. He possessed all the characteristics of Jesus Christ. He was so humble. He knew the heart of God. I can imagine that small children were drawn to him, such a beautiful soul.

I attended Times Square Church for 10 years. What a privilege to be under such good word.
Grace has been the key for me in the last 3 years. The strange times have made fellowship become limited severely. Work became doubly difficult..my teenage son was under strain with school...without friends.
I was saddened that many church members didn't go to church. Fear of covid...I couldn't agree. I kept hoping and encouraging myself...neighbors. The Lord gave me rest when many had avoided discomfort. I am enduring many things...I have gone to a new church. There is a kindness and warmth I have missed. It is evident they welcome people as they are. I don't desire to be part of the world. My son finished school. He s working. He doesn't want to hear about the Lord. Is with his father. Praying for those who desire what this world offers. I have worries...yet I am more child like...released from the cares of life. I've been led to assist seniors in isolation. Thank God for grace.

truth be said, many are deceived as they believe they are correct. John 5:44 is about the liars who all claim God loves them the sinner, while their sins saved them, they persecute the others sinners who are condemned because of their sin. Such are the beliefs of the vain worshipers.
I’m glad he did eventually get to it. To not focus on ourselves but set your heart and eyes on the Lord. If you always turn inward you’ll always find some failure. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith

The ministries of Pastors David Wilkerson, Carter Conlon, Derek Prince, and Rabbi Kurt Schneider, preach anointed sermons touched by the Holy Spirit of God. The Word preached in its purity, and according to written scripture; not changed and diluted to be palatable to the tastes of modern society, or sugarcoated to tickle the ears of the politically correct that many have become. Be sure you listen to the sermons of all of these men of God. We need truth, something no longer told these days. Praise the Lord Jesus forever and ever.
I don't think i can survive without their teachings, they answers all my concerns about my spiritual concerns as soon as I start whining to Abba that I feel that I am not moving forward Abba sends a relevant teaching to reassure me thru these teachers. Oh bless abba Father and bless these great men of God. Two truly men who preach Jesus is Paul Washer and most assuredly John Paul Jackson. Was most anointed Prophet God spoke thru Him. Wow. He coming Storm in which he prophesied what is happening to day. Went to Glory in 2015, although not before Abba gave him some profound messages for us. Praise God. Everyone should listen to his teachings they are very much current and also for the future.

I sooo needed to hear this!! I cried for days when I had just received a visitation & vision with Jesus of future events n weeks later to wake up feeling completely naked n void of the Holy Spirit. This was 3 years ago. I am so inlove with Jesus, it felt as if I was left at the altar by the one I loved. I asked in prayer what had I done to quench His Spirit. I could no longer here His voice or know His choice. Until just recently I began to notice the Holy Spirit was leading me, tho I couldn't pray in the Spirit cause I didn't want to speak gibberish. The other night I felt the Holy Spirit trying to come thru. I fear not being caught up with the Bride of Christ. I refuse to give up. There's nothing that matters to me but my Lord, my God. 😢 I need prayer, I am not able to leave my home, for shortness of breath. Please pray for me. I remember praying in the Spirit with tears n wailing. Recently, I began to cry for others again ...instead of myself. If we had teachers of the Word one of them surely was David. No sugercoating or anything just showing us truth through the Word. And I'm watching this sermon in a time where I've been struggling and FEELING like I'm not being Christian enough or my Faith is failing...But thank God for bringing David Wilkerson to mind and I have been playing his sermons all night while asleep. When I woke up I found this one and it has truly blessed me & encouraged me. I'm so blessed and I'm thankful for his ministry. I'm not sure if he ever came to Africa but I think he'd have impacted so many people with his teachings. And maybe people wouldn't be obsessed with fake prophets & teachers of prosperity gospel instead of unfiltered truth. Not that they're all fake but there are so many of them deceiving people. Thank God for giving the world David. May He continue to rest in Peace until we meet!

I don't go chasing after prophesies but one time a prophet came up to me and knew the secrets of my heart, and I never met the guy...Paul said the gift of prophesy will uncover or reveal the hidden secrets of the heart and unbelievers will fall on their face and exclaim "God is truly among you"! I didn't go looking for a word but God gave me one. And the prophet brought up my hidden sin and so I repented and he encouraged me ... When God speaks thru His still small voice, that is very good and biblical . God speaks in many ways. He speaks thru His Word, The Bible, and they visions and dreams and they other people and thru circumstances and thru His Still Small Voice. However God speaks to you, obey AND Surrender. Anywho God put a Word in my heart and that word is Surrender!!
I have experienced Gods still small voice too, God has helped me out with small things and big things by speaking to me through His still small voice. It has also helped other people when I waited on the Lord with other people and we would both hear Gods still small voice to help them out especially when it comes to big decisions. God will help us grow by any means and we have the Holy spirit who is our helper and counselor. The bible is great because the Holy Spirit will bring up the right scripture for us to retain at the right moment in order to bring life to a person or situation.

I feel good, rarely. But in my recovery, I ask the Holy Spirit to govern over my feelings, even when I am off the charts in emotions. To thank Him while I am low is my aim. It is a discipline. Yes I fall, but hopefully get back up quickly by His grace.
I struggle just like you and understand. Please people who comment..pray that God has mercy on me and changes me for I am so file and wicked with no self control and despise myself and am terrified of God. Please pray God will manifest himself to me once again like he did 21 years ago. I want Jesus Christ more than life itself and am terrified I might not make heaven. God has blessed me so very much and I still suffer with extreme, deep major depressive disorder. I am afraid gone has gone weary and had enough of my sin. He is so good to me . I yearn to feel that peace that passes all human understanding and a joy I can never express in words the day He manifested himself to me 22 years ago and I was on fire for him. To feel that joy and peace and love of God for 2 minutes is worth everything. Please pray God helps me and forgives me and changes me. I hate myself and do not want to live without Jesus and knowing He forgives me and believing He will change me and bring him joy and complete obedience. I want to please Him and continue to fail.

This is such an amazing message! I think about those times when I notice the smallest of tiny plants, growing up through tight cracks in the concrete. They find the light and push through that hard substance to the surface. We are like those tiny plants, pushing through the hard obstacles of spiritual warfare, life, sin, etc. We reach for Jesus Christ, the Light of life, as we grow and mature into the likeness of His image. How are you sure that the "still small voice" you are hearing is from God? The Pastor did not say that God doesn't speak to us. He is emphasising the importance of being rooted in the Word of God. I understand him perfectly because I have been where he spoke against. I have been seduced by satan thinking I was hearing from God. When I realized what was going on, I chose not to listen to the still small voice anymore but to place my trust in God's word alone. Satan cannot quicken God's word. He cannot lead you to do God's will. That's against his rebellious nature. So, my friend, stand firm and rooted in the word of God. Don't put your confidence in what you hear in your spirit. That's the surest way to be deceived by satan and his demons.
