If they do their overhead melee (1 in a million chance), they track with it, so even if you try and get behind them you can't. If by some miracle you get behind them, they still turn around instantly. Shit design all the way down.
I agree. They pivot and turn to you way too quick. It's exacerbated by the fact that they're already in pairs so you're leaving yourself exposed when trying to deal with one. Myriad is the hardest high value target and I have yet to beat them, even on normal lol
The only real piece of advice when going for legendary difficulty; while all these advice are solid, I will emphasize to cover as much as you can for hit-and-run shots. If you're lucky, you'll have alot of cover on some open landscapes. If you're unlucky, you gotta swing that grappleshot like a titanfall spiderman.

There's two red hunters in one of the last missions inside a room on legendary can be a real pain if you don't have a sufficient power weapon or spidey skills. I tossed so many grenades.
I love that there's a tutorial from IGN about this. As there's probably a LOT of players joining the Halo franchise via Halo Infinite, Hunters are probably WRECKING them and those of us who've played all the other games would NEVER know they're having a hard time against them. Oh, and the Needler is essentially the best weapon against most bosses or tanky enemies in the game. It's intentionally kept nearby in boss fights, and can dish a LOT of damage really quickly against slow lumbering enemies, aka most bosses. Only downfall is they can run out of ammo fairly quickly if you're missing shots or spraying and praying with them. Solid tut btw.
Needlers wreck hunters. The arcane sentinel beam does too, but only on the weakspots. Cloak thruster or a marine distraction, as mentioned here, is a good way of getting behind them.

One thing not mentioned, trying to deal damage to each evenly instead of 1 at a time then try and finish them off at the same time so that the rage from remaining one doesn’t kill you

Well hey then all that practice shooting them there which you eventually will improve your accuracy enough to do will only help you more throughout the campaign and multi-player it will be worth all the deaths before you become more accurate
This just reminded me how annoying it is that the companion AI isn't programmed to take advantage of the dropwall. They ran right through it into danger like lemmings. Disappointed in 343 for not accounting for that.
I think the marine ai is disappointingly terrible in infinite. Sometimes you can't get them to get in your vehicle, they won't follow you, they won't shoot at an enemy 20 feet in front of them, etc. It's very frustrating that a good game could have been so much better.
Spamming sticky grenades is a viable approach. I’ve taken down a lot of them throughout the legendary campaign easily utilizing them. And a Needler is an unsung hero. Go and unlock the HVT Needler as soon as you can and it’s easy peezy.
@@aaronsweitzer4483 only against hunters. It really wasn't that good in the campaign (multiplayer it was meta though) due to it's stupid spread making it really inaccurate and hard to hit headshots with.

What also helps is if you progress through the entire Infinite story campaign and unlock the bandana skull so that you'll never run completely out of ammo, one of the power weapons of choice for me is the Flexible variant of The new S7 Sniper because it's more suited for close to mid range engagements plus having a 10 round magazine is way better than just the traditional 4 round capacity
Watching him drop the needler for a skewer was just painful. The needler damages them regardless of where you shoot them. The skewer needs to hit them in the worms.
Only on lower difficulties. I’ve seen a single marine take down a banished hunter by himself on legendary with a skewer. I was taking most of their fire so he just kept shooting and all of a sudden one of them dropped. I look at him with all the joy and pride of a parent before he was obliterated by the other hunter.

I’ve been through in Heroic and will be back for Legendary. These Hunters are definitely are another level from previous games. Getting behind them is tough! And that rapid fire will torch a Wasp pretty quick and has ridiculous range.
Agree with the advice. Also, you have to cover most of the time because they can lock their explosive rounds on you. It’s annoying and fun at the same time. Furthermore, if you kill one out of the pair they start full on sprinting for you and use their automatic plasma weapon, which can kill you in a instant. You just have to keep using explosives on them and have as much ammo as possible because it takes more than maximum ammo capacity to kill them with a assault or battle rifle alone.
Flexfire Sniper Rifle vs Cindershot? What to choose between the two? I'm currently on a Nexus mission in the campaign and I brought a Flexfire Sniper with me (I know it's weaker than the S7, but it has more ammo), and in the section before the Hunters I also found a Cindershot, so I'm undecided. Both are power weapons, and I didn't bring the M41 SPNKR because it's low on ammo. Cindershot seemed stronger than Hydra to me, so I was choosing between it and Flexfire Sniper.
My loadout against hunters would usually be a gravity hammer and energy sword, but if I don't have those 2, it would be a needle and any weapon and a bunch of nades and coils. This loading helped me a lot in heroic and legendary
I used the grapple when facing a Hunter to fly past them and turn to fire on their backs. Not the easiest way but it works. Also, I've just about completed it and only just found out there's a torch!

which makes them feel like actual mini bosses, so despite my distaste towards a few aspects (the fact they can turn mid melee, the fact the minigun attack FUCKING TRACKS and does an insane amount of damage, and they rather run backwards and shoot at you than go for a melee) I prefer them, as they are actually challenging.

Was just doing the myriad brothers on legendary. I used all of my skewer on one, but thankfully i had the shock rounds barrier and was able to use my br to finish the other one.
Just finished the two in silent auditorium on legendary- they’re really something. Might actually be the hardest encounter in the game because you can’t really cheese them well.
I beat the game on legendary for some context. Use shock pistol it’ll slow down their attacks and do some decent damage. The needler is pretty decent too. The skewer is great against them. One of the final mission you’ll be in a room with two of them. There should be a skewer and use the fusion coils to weaken both of them when they’re close together. Use the skewer to finish them off. Wait until their backplates blow off from the coils before u shoot them.
I'm a madman that's playing my first playthrough on legendary and I've been finding it decently manageable so far but I can't get near those red hunters.
Here's the thing, none, and I mean NONE, of the weapons that are supposed to "wreck" hunters do anything for me. It shows that hits are happening, damage and stuff. But its not hurting them anymore than if I had shot them with an assault rifle. Basically I'm literally using EVERY last bit of ammo I have and grenades just to kill one hunter. Everything I've watched videos of these weapons/strategies working but they literally don't work in mine. And since they travel in pairs, well then I have nothing to do enough damage to the 2nd one at that point. Its an insane chore. Edit:Yes I'm shooting the weak points. The back as well as the new weak spots like the knees. It legitimately is like they forgot to code in all the hunter specs for my game or something.
Is it just me, or did everyone here forget about or not play against Halo 5 Hunters? These Infinite hunters are definitely hard but the Halo 5 ones were the hardest by far imo. Much faster, more aggressive and insane firepower. Cant even get behind them with a shotgun without being insta-killed by the shield (something that doesnt happen in Infinite) or even its aoe damage. And you could get insta-killed by their fuel rod cannons as well, which were very precisely fire. Even with the teammate system allowing for being brought back to life, it was a supreme challenge. I feel like if anything, the Halo Infinite hunter is a response to this and is somewhat nerfed (which is fine IMO, although I do wish it was the toughest unit outside of main bosses, which it is not imo). Playing PC Halo for the first time, I always hid from hunters... Very far away... And PISTOL. Yes, the pistol was my most powerful weapon to use and chicken behind stuff while shooting through tiny holes.
Well there's also another method on killing hunters what you have to do is to do enough damage and then you use the grapple hook and punch them repeatedly I hope this helped.
Hunters haven’t been tough for me honestly. Beat the game on heroic first, and I’m now nearing the end of a legendary run. That damn brute chieftain with the hammer at the harbinger tho, fuck that guy, not looking forward to that encounter again.
I dislike how they shoot point blank rather than swing at you I used to love jumping around them and boxing with them in previous games they barley use melee.

Shooting them in the leg with a skewer is a very satisfying 4 shot kill

Needler is super op against hunters. You don't even have to aim and full needler ammo easily does the job on lower difficulties.

Another tip is getting all the marines in the razorback WITH skewers. I did this and destroyed the myriad brothers under 10 seconds there.

I don't know about the worms part, I've never had to really aim the skewer and I find it does the modt consistent damage

What i did to kill them before i saw this video was: I literally just got up close and went ham with melee.
And it worked.. somehow..
As a first time halo player, the way I won in the first hunter fight was:
1. Find coil
2. Use coil
3. Find coil
4. Use coil
Repeat

Infinite’s Hunters are the deadliest of all time. Their AI, armour, health and speed is another level compared to previous games.

I fought and beat the Myriad pair of hunters on Heroic difficulty. That shock pistol weapon and the needler did the most damage.

Shooting the exposed kneecap with a sniper or skewer does a lot of damage, but probably not as much damage as shooting the exposed neck
Far cry from Halo CE where you can just walk up to them, spin around and kill them in one hit with the pistol.

Hunters haven’t been tough for me honestly. Beat the game on heroic first, and I’m now nearing the end of a legendary run. That damn brute chieftain with the hammer at the harbinger tho, fuck that guy, not looking forward to that encounter again.

I dislike how they shoot point blank rather than swing at you I used to love jumping around them and boxing with them in previous games they barley use melee.
