    This is one of the great areas of MSFS and where it can truly shine.
    Not alone can people make and add accurate models, but also, bring craft alive that had never truly made it to the real world and/or had very little time in the real world. Very well done by the team 👌

    Anyone that has seen the movie The Aviator will remember this plane

    I love the detail of the engine start on this one. So many of the older planes out there being developed for the sim rarely simulate the smoke during start up when you know there should be. For me its part of the immersion and realism.

    Wow - this would be awesome as long as it doesn’t end the same way as in the movie

    The XF-11 is not really my cup of tea, but my goodness, this seems to be extremely well made. I can only marvel at the talent and dedication that was put into this plane.

    This is the first add-on to really interest me for several months. The team looks to have done a great job.
    These late war prototypes are fascinating and it would be cool to see more in MSFS.

    I have read a bit about this aircraft and I really think it will be coming to my hangar soon.

    Like the monster there will be some small problems, but they sorted them out and that aircraft is a delight to fly. I am sure this one will be as well.

    Wow! Some very impressive modelling from a small team. Loved watching those counter rotating props start up. Ambitious project handled really well. And then you have a group like DC (I think that's what they call themselves) turning out jets that I think aren't worth the money. Just my two cents. Great review as always.

    • @fighter_pilot_1698
      @fighter_pilot_1698 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be MSCENERY… and to call those things jets is a very generous statement.

      Thank you! If you would even know how many people were involved in the modeling and texturing of this plane ;)
      A little hint? Less than 2 people :)

    Thank-you Jonathan for your brief, yet comprehensive review of Flying Fries XF-11. For the longest time, I had been eyeing the P-38 as an addon, but the XF-11 seems to be a viable contender. To negotiate the mountainous regions in the world, I have been wanting a one man, long-range, high altitude, fast aircraft with remarkable visibility. Actually, when it comes to the XF-11, I should write “Fast” with a capital “F”. This is the first aircraft I have witnessed needing downward trim to land.
    The aircraft does need some tweaking when it comes to detailing and modifications. A taxi light that points straight down really doesn’t serve much purpose. Although poking holes in a design is easy, the most urgent modification I would like to see Flying Fries make is to find a place on the instrument panel for at least a GNS 530. Without an interacting navigator and flying at speeds exceeding 350 kn, a pilot would quickly overshoot VORTAC’s and NDB’s, and needing an extra set of arms for changing frequencies and operating the OBS knob.
    This is a bit off topic, but when you mentioned having to fly over the airfield to check the windsock, it reminded me of one thing I would like added to MSFS: chimneys producing smoke. While earning my private license for flying, I found smokestacks very valuable for getting an idea of wind speed and direction.
    Again, thank-you for your review. Please keep up the great work and service you do for us.

      I have seen landing lights (not taxi lights) point down until a toggle is given and extra flick, turning them forward. I remember seeing the reason for this two-stage operation many years ago, but can't remember what that was.

    • @flyingfries1027
      @flyingfries1027 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your comment. Actually you can chose if you want to use this era-correct instruments, or the GNS 530, or even the GTN 750 by PMS50 if you have any version of it (free or premium).
      You can also select the speed unit that suits you most: MPH or Knots.

      @@MegaPeedee: Thank-you for your reply. You are correct about the 2 stage lights. My attention was focused on the aircraft actually taxiing with no light pointing forward. Thank-you though for keeping me on my toes.

      @Guerry-3 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@flyingfries1027: Thank-you for your reply. By being given the choice of navigation systems, I am now very interested in this aircraft! If there was a way that a 2nd person could actually navigate for me as I flew (or vice versa), I would very much like to fly the "old school" method for authenticity. Until that capability is introduced into MSFS, I have to navigate alone with a system with an integrated flight plan, so I can focus on flying and not jumping into the back seat to change frequencies every 15 minutes
      I look forward to the aircraft coming on the market with great enthusiasm!

    Thanks for the video! I do believe I will be adding this to the stable. I'm a big fan of radial engines and history. If I remember correctly, the counter-rotating propeller scheme was abandoned and a more conventional configuration was adopted for the subsequent aircraft.

    You always do a great job on these videos. Love the WWII era planes, this in particular very smooth and well done. The reflection on the cockpit glass seems a little exaggerated. Nice plane averall

    The sound is not so great. No comparison to Flying Irons Hellcat or bf109 unfortunately. That's what most developers don't get right, it's the sound that brings the real thrill to the sim.....

    the prop and spinner animations definitely need work, the prop animation isn't great but isn't terrible either but the wobbly spinners look dreadful and unrealistic.

      It's a payware and it will be coming to Xbox as soon as Microsoft validates my partner submission. And this step takes a lot of time (I'm already in "pending" state for a few months, actually!)
